Jimmy was seated peacefully at the Gryffindor table, of the marvelous Great Hall, whenever he entered here his breath was taken away by the ceiling and also the sheer size of the room. He was reminded of church with the numerous candles floating around and cavernous expanse of the Hall. Craning his neck to look up at the ceiling he saw the pathetic fallacy of the weather mirrowing his happy mood. Having been overcast earlier he brightened still further, on seeing a clear blue sky. the sun's powerful rays diminishing the clouds. Having arrived precisely on time to dinner he now looked curiously at the various students trailing in, their uniforms were a disgrace to the school thought Jimmy; student's robes looked like they hadn't been washed in weeks, let alone getting onto the important business of having them ironed and put away neatly. On arrival at the school he had been quite dismayed to have been allocated a chamber with a seemingly rather dispicable roommate, or would they be called a roomie here? Jimmy was new to this humble way of life and was already missing his humble abode; Robertson Manor, and to make matters entirely un-reasonable his books hadn't arrived on time, he would merelt have to suffice with his dreadful books How disagreeable thought Jimmy, but yet his mood was fine and he was starting to learn an entirely new skill; that of wondrous magic. But he had more pressing matters to attend to, filling his stomach to the brim, if the food was his usual top quality.

Jac proudly strode into the Great Hall, smiling widely at everyone who looked at her. She had her hair a neon blue tonight just to match her eyes. She walked through a group of ravenclaws and winked at a girl she recognised. She walked on up the table looking for anyone she knew. Miranda seemed to have vanished off the face of the earth. She spotted a delightfully full-of-himself gryffie who she decided to go pick on.
She sat across from the boy, her pony falling on her shoulders (she has thick hair), and grinned at him. When he looked at her, Jac said, enthusiastically, "evening! Lovely, isn't it?" She looked at the sky, then back at the boy. "People always think it mirrors not only the sky but also their moods. I figure the weather is mirrored in your mood." She slouched forwards slightly because she felt very tall between a third and fourth year. "I'm Jac, by the way," she said, smiling again, her blue eyes twinkling, and she held out her hand, "Jac Biggerstall!"

Raising his eyebrows as a fellow Gryffindor approached, he gave them a curt smile, rather prefering to eat his dinner alone. Though the conversation she had begun wasn't the worst so he cordially decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and give her a few moments of his precious time. Taking the young lady's hand he kissed it lightly, declaring "Miss Biggerstall, delighted to meet you. Let me introduce myself, I'm Jimmy Robertson, call me what you will." With the cordialites over, he gave her what he thought of as a winning smile, and agreed "I would most certainly acquiese with your deduction there" Jimmy was feeling slightly out of place here not knowing how to hold himself in this conversation. Overall he was finding it exceedingly difficult to adjust to this varying way of life and still hadn't found his sea legs. He nibbled at a slice of chicken deftly slicing it up where most would just throw it all in. His upbringing was definitely a major disadvantage here he surmised, though he wanted to change and become more relaxed, he couldn't see it happening anytime soon.

Jac blushed behind her newly appeared freckles as the boy took her hand and kissed it. Her hair turned a deep shade of red and she smile awkwardly. She took her hand back slowly, trying to figure out some things about this new face at her beloved house table. She could see he felt uneasy but though that his closed ways would keep him distant from the fantastic opportunities the school and the people here.
Then it dawned on her that he may just be shy, something that she could not really understand. Jac was a loud, friendly, cheerful, walk-up-to-you-and-say-hi kind of person and she could hardly wrap her head around how you can block what you think and feel away from people. If Jac liked you she would say so, and if she didn't she would show you in the nicest way she knows how. But besides all that, knowing what she knew, Jac persisted.
"So you enjoying your meal?" she asked conversationally. She took a chicken wing and laid it on her plate. Then she added other things to her plate, such as potato chips, carrots, beans, mash and a dash of sauce. She picked up her knife and fork and began to eat. She swallowed her mouthful and looked at the boy, smiling pleasantly.

Feeling uneasy under the young lady's powerful gaze which seemed to see straight through him, Jimmy's brow creased a fraction, a detail only those who knew him well would notice. He kept his emotions under control stopping himself from smiling when Miss Biggerstall blushed a deep crimson and smiled rather awkwardly. His deduction of her character thus far was a hyperactive and loud girl, but ultimately nice and cheerful, having made that diagnosis he relaxed, but his very nature still made him seem uptight and pretentious a lot of the time, a fact he wasn't really aware of. He answered her question curtly as he settled down into his seat "I've tasted far better," But seeing the reaction on her face and quickly realising he could have caused offence with such an alarming and smarmy comment he tried to right his wrongs by saying "I meant that ironically, it's really rather good," but in a low voice, designed for prying ears not to overhear, he couldn't help but add "considering the circumstances." he smiled rather shyly and wanted to gape as she piled her plate high in a preposterous manner and proceeded to gobble it down; filling her mouth to the very brim, entirely un-lady-like he thought. But at least she was using a knife and fork, that was a blessing otherwise he might of had to say something entirely rude but as it was he thought he ought to say something, though it would be rather un-polite he asked "are you rather ravenous? You're eating like a horse," but once again it seemed his manner and big mouth would get him into a pile of bother, or at the least a sticky situation.

At the mention of how she was eating, and the funny looks she was getting from Jimmy, Jac sat up straight and swallowed on her mouthful. She cleared her throat and smiled sheepishly. She set her knife and fork down and met his gaze. "Well," she said, locking her fingers together and resting her chin on her fingers, "if you've keep not eating like you are, I'm going to have to keep eating like I am."
She stared intensely at him, trying to make sense of his nonsensical ways. He was indeed intriguing. She smiled mischievously, then looked back to her food and continued eating. She did so more sedately then before, now self-conscious of her ways under Jimmy's scrutenous eyes.

His usual mannerisms had caused some discomfort to Jac it seemed to Jimmy. He gave a small smile almost feeling a sense of pride, quickly stifling such an unwelcome thought he smiled more re-asssuringly to her, hoping above all else that she wouldn't take offence. Having made her stop eating for a moment too had indeed confused Jimmy and the look she gave him almost sent a shiver of fear or excitement he could not tell.
Going more serenely back to her food Jimmy realised with some regret that he had succeeded in making her anxious and afeared of his ways. She was trying un-successfully to appear more lady-like, something which entirely didn't suit her in Jimmy's opinion, at the moment that was, maybe she wasn't used to such high society.
Having kept a keen eye contact up until now he then lowered his gaze to the his measly amount of food, but he was unfortunately now put off from eating further. Pushing his plate aside and deciding to instead just watch somebody enjoying their dinner his eyes settled once again upon Jac's face, a face whcih interested Jimmy immensely; it seemed to change, it must have been his imaginiation, he could think of naught else.
In simple answer to her observation he remarked but a simple uttereance of "indeed". Then realising that wouldn't be sufficient to strike up a true conversation he continued with a sharp question of "you enjoy the food here?"

Jac could feel Jimmy's gaze on her and it made her very nervous. She kept her gaze on her plate, pretending that their interaction was through. But he didn't seem to get the hint, he kept looking at her. Her hair changed from her warm red to a cool black. Her green eyes sparkled as she looked up at him and stopped eating. "Food is food!" she said curtly. Looking back to her plate and moving food around with her fork she added, "but at least here I get three cooked meals and no burnt toast!" She smiled at her plate at memories that whizzed through her head.

It dawned very slowly on Jimmy that he had caused Jac some distress his simply looking at her, indeed his gaze could be chilling at times he would willingly admit but to envoke such an outrageous change of tone and a curt response his mouth nearly dropped open, inside he felt outraged but of course he wouldn't show it on the outside. In fact if he hadn't been mistaken her hair had even changed colour, in case that had been his lively imagination he didn't dare mention it though. "Burnt toast," he repeated simply, "what on earth do you mean? I'm very much agrieved that I have caused you such distress my dear," But unbeknowest to Jimmy his stare had put off Jac and he had failed to notice such a simple notion.
"I beg for your forgiveness," he orated his faint smile now wiped from his handsome features (ooc couldn't resist that!) as he hoped his apology would be accepted. For a reason Jimmy couldn't fathom Jac had begun to smile down at her plate, perhaps this was all some sort of joke that these wizarding folk would find highly amusing. It didn't tickle Jimmy's fancy and he became slowly more agitated as he realised this conversation was getting him nowhere, in fact somehow he appeared to be digging himself a rather large hole.

Jac roughly dropped her knife and fork onto her plate and stared at Jimmy, shock all over her face. "When I go to my sisters for the holidays, I have to cook my own food coz she's just dreadful. Once we went to a party and the next morning she got the screwy idea to make breakfast. Burnt toast and cooked rotten eggs! Not so nice!"
She smirked at him. His negativity seemed to be rubbing off on her and she didn't like it much. She shot him a hard, dark look through dark green eyes then returned to her food. She angrily cut her food and no longer cared what he thought, he can stare all he wants, I don't care! With some after thought, she couldn't figure out why he was getting to her like this. He was rude, arrogant, conceited and he was getting to her. She chewed on it thoughtfully.

The girl had suddenly started blabbering, he rushed tone and mannerism made it difficult for Jimmy to catch and he rconversation seemed dull anyway. But he would give her a chance, she may porve more likeable, though he somewaht doubted such a hope. Watching her throw her cutlery he nearly gasped in disgust and outrage, gaping as the knife bounced nastily and landed sharply into the wood near his hand he tried hard to keep his emotions under control, this girl was nothing but a snivelling wretch he was beginning to think.
She gave him a long, cruel, hard look and she seemed extremly angry with him for some reason a raison d'etre he himself couldn't fathom; he'd even had the decency to apolgise profusely and still she was angry. He now averted his gaze and judged that her character was quite possibly altogether foul. But he didn't want to reach a hasty assumption so he resolved to give her a final chance to revert her bad ways.
"You seem upset, may I be so presumptious as to ask why? If it be a fault of mine I do apologise most profusely."

Jac very slowly looked up, dropping her hands like a sinking quaffle, till they landed gracefully on the table. She stared at Jimmy's face as though a light had just been switched on and she could finally see. The corner of her mouth twitched into a lob sided smile. Slowly she chuckled and shrugged, all past discrepancies forgotten. "Its alright!" she smiled and pushed away her plate.

Jimmy was flabbergasted, all of a sudden she had changed, her anger had melted like dew in the morning. He saw her in a different light now, she wasn't so angry or uptight; he just couldn't fathom her but he knew one thing was for certain; he'd never understand women, especially this one. She even had the sense to maintain eye contact now, a key formality in his opinion. He smiled thankfully though "I'm glad my apology has been accepted, shall we start afresh?" He paused a moment having forgotten his own food completely. "I say, are you in Glorious Gryffindor then?" he asked already knowing the answer but wanting to initiate a conversation, this was the first person who had really properly talked to him, though he admitted glumly it wasn't much of a sophisticated conversation and he doubted it ever would be.
