After everything that had happened recently something good needed to happen, something happy! Christmas had been and gone and the next holiday that some people loved going overboard on was Valentines Day and my god Harrison enjoyed this holiday. He would receive around 20 boxes of chocolates, around 10 teddy bears and far too many cards, however today the only person that mattered was a certain Hufflepuff.
He had talked some of his badger buddies and had been informed how to get into the Hufflepuff Common Room and there he now stood, in his smart casual attire. He wore dark jeans, with a dark blue shirt and a black dinner jacket and he had spent around an hour mucking around with hair but in the end it looked like he had done nothing.
Admittedly he was now getting some rather odd looks from the other members of the Hufflepuff house who were clearly wondering who the hell this Gryffindor was? Why the hell did he had a bunch of a dozen red roses? And why did he have a picnic basket? But for once Harrison did not care about other people’s opinions; all that mattered was the drop dead gorgeous woman who was going to be walking down those stairs any moment now.
He glanced down at his watch once more to see it tick over to 8 o’clock. It was show time and almost on cue his heart rate increased and the butterflies started. It was the first time on Valentines day that Harrison was on a date that he cared about the outcome, he just wanted to make Ellie happy…that was all that mattered to him!

It had only been a few weeks since what Ellie forced herself to remember as the "fire" in Hogsmeade. It had been fewer weeks since she had been allowed to leave the hospital wing. The cut Ellie had sustained on her face had been so deep that it had sliced through her cheek bone. It was not nearly as quick of a fix as Ellie had hoped. Even now as she painted her lips with bright red lipstick, Ellie could see the pink scar that reached from the tip of her nistril angled to the top of her ear. She had been reassured that the scar would fade with in a year, but now it was just a harsh reminder of that day.
However, nothing could bring down Ellie's mood. She would have to remember to thank Harrison for giving her time to get herself together. She had even gone out and bought a special outfit for the occasion, which was the first time she had ventured out of the castle since the "fire". She slipped on her red shoes and took the last minute glance in her full length mirror. Her pale skin was striking in the white dress and her hair was gentle curled over her shoulder. For the first time in a long time, she felt pretty, and proud to be herself. She also knew that Harrison might fall over as she walked down the stairs.
She decided to test her theory and she headed down the Hufflepuff stairs to the common room. She smiled when she saw him waiting there. It seemed as though more and more hufflepuff's had journeied ino the common room, no doubt from the gossip of Gryffindor in the room. Ellie's face pinkend as she saw the eyes all on her. She reached Harrison and managed a smile.
"Well, I guess its not secret you're taking me out." She said as she nervously glanced at the faces around the room.

The commonroom was getting busier and he could see that people were waiting to see what was going to happen. In all honesty it annoyed him slightly and he wanted to turn around and tell them all to scurry off to the hole they had come from but he knew that he should not be saying those sorts of things to Ellie’s fellow house mates, not when it would no doubt be re-laid back to her later. However it didn’t matter as low and behold there she came like an angel down the stairs. Harrison could not help but let his mouth hang slightly open as Ellie walked towards him. He saw her cheeks pinken as her eyes darted around at their audience.
His blue eyes darted all over her and lingered a little bit too long on the scar that was still visible of her face. He knew he should not be drawing attention to it, but to him it was a mark of their past, their bravery and their fight. A small smile tugged at the Gryffindor’s lips as he moved closer to Ellie and kissed her gently on the cheek.
“I brought these for you.” He offered her the roses; a sheepish little grin filled his face. He didn’t know what she would think about the flowers…he worried about everything he did around Ellie. Swallowing hard Harrison ran his hand through his hair and he finally couldn’t stop himself anymore. “Ellie, you look beautiful! I hope you’re ready for a night of fun!” He gave her a cheeky wink before bending down and swooping up the picnic basket that was beside him on the floor.
“Are you ready my lady?”

Ellie took the rose that were given to her, and despite everyone watching, she smiled brightly. She smelled the deep satisfying fragrance and smiled wider. "They are perfect." She said. She heard someone giggle over her shoulder and she sighed. "I'm ready to have fun, but let me be head girl for a second."
Ellie spun around on her heel and faced the common room. "If you all don't clear out in five seconds, you'll find yourself cleaning the entire Gryffindor common room in dentention." They all looked at each other and mentally decided that they didn't want to demean themselves to cleaning another houses common room like house elves, therefore, they all must have suddenly remember of an important date or homework assignment to get to.
Now that the prying eyes were gone, Ellie turned back to Harrison, smirking. "That's better." She said. "I felt way too much pressure with everyone watching." She said with a giggle. "Besides, now I can thank you." Ellie gently leaned in and kissed Harrison gently on the cheek.
"Yes. I am very ready." She said, noticing the picnic basket. "What do you have planned and should I be nervous?" Ellie said, mischievously smirking with anticipation.

All Harri could say was he was glad that he wasn’t the one who turned all serious and yelled at the Hufflepuff’s but in the end he was glad that Ellie did as it gave them that little bit more privacy. She was right, there was a lot of pressure with him doing this little scene in the middle of the Common Room, they would be the gossip at the breakfast table the next morning…or at least that’s what he hoped anyway.
As Ellie leaned in and kissed him on the cheek Harrison could feel his heart rate increase, it was banging faster then if he had run 100 meters in 10 seconds, in fact he was properly sweating like he had run the 100 meters too. He felt so nervous as he loved and hated the fact that Ellie made him feel that way, it almost proved to him that it was real rather then just his little flights of fancy.
“You’re very welcome.” He mumbled as she pulled away from him. However at the saying of her being ready Harrison’s one hand grip tightened around the picnic basket while the other reached out and gently took a hold of Ellie’s.
“I was going to suggest kicking back in front of the fire in here but…” He glanced over his shoulder and almost to prove his point a group of second years where peering around the wall. “but I don’t think it will be very private.” With a small chuckle Harrison strode towards the entrance to the common room with great purpose, a wide grin permanently on his face.
He silently led her down the corridors from the Hufflepuff Common Room, past the kitchens, up the steps towards the great hall and finally into the entrance hall. However he paused before pushing open the grand oak doors that led to the castle grounds.
“Here” Harrison slipped off his jacket and carefully draped it over Ellie’s shoulders. “It’s a bit chilly out there.” With a soft smile Harrison once again took a hold of the Hufflepuff’s hand and pushed open the doors. The bitter February air blew through his thin shirt but he didn’t care, all that mattered was the beautiful girl beside him.
However the Gryffindor knew he would not have to act brave for long as the closer they got to the lake the brighter the orange glow became. As there, beside the lake was a roaring camp fire next to a typical tartan blanket that was spread along the floor. Above the blanket hovered some (borrowed) floating candles from the great hall, filling the sky like little fireflies.
“Ta-da!” Harrison presented his little work of art happily to Ellie as he dropt the picnic blanket down on the floor, quickly flipping it open and pulling out a rather expensive looking bottle of champagne. With a pop from the bottle and a chuckle from Harri the cork flew out into the darkness of the lake and the young Romeo was desperately left trying to control the overflowing liquid and get it into a glass.
“Happy Valentines day Ellie.” Harrison muttered as he handed a glass over to Ellie. “I hope it will be your best yet.”
