It had been a long time since Max had been down to Hogsmeade at all, least of all stepped foot in a bar. His first thoughts was to go to the Hogs Head but he only went there when he really needed to drown his sorrows, tonight however, he had decided he was going to all he could to have a little fun. He had split up with Laney, it had hurt sure but he wasn’t going to dwell on a love-lost. He had been down that rocky road before and it only led to trouble, his friends, tired of his moping, had abandoned him. Now, he wasn’t in a moping mood, oh no… he was ready for some fun.
Dressed simply in jeans and a t-shirt he made his way down to the Three Broomsticks. It was getting on for time, around eight or nine he wasn’t too sure, and already the bar hosted quite a number of faces. Smiling to himself he wound around the people and sat on one of the stools. The barman brought him a drink over which he brought lazily to his lips. There was music on but he wasn’t paying attention to it, all he cared about was the liquid which would, no doubt, have him completely intoxicated at some point.
Max left the bar and went and sat at a table while he watched people around him were dancing, laughing, joking… some were even arguing. There were couples in the corners doing couple things which Max blushed at when he saw. He quickly averted his eyes and concentrated on his drink. Sitting alone at the bar wasn’t exactly how he had planned to spend his evening but there was plenty of time yet. Afterall, he still had many more drinks to consume and get into a very intoxicated state.
Be worried.

Girty was slumped over in the library with her head buried in her arms as she tried to ignore the sound of a bickering pair of Ravenclaw’s that were sitting opposite her. The first part that annoyed her was she had purposely picked this table as there had been no one on it, second she would not have arguably minded to share the table if these students were working and third and perhaps the most important…they were talking utter rubbish!
“It is!” Stated the first of the female claws in such a determined way it was obvious she thought she was right. But by the furious shaking of her frizzy hair the other Ravenclaw did not believe her. “Naw, a bubotuber is red.” “It ain’t, itz green like all plants and it helps cure acne.” “You need it den.” “No I don’t!” “Yeah you do!”
Sense the pattern here? Girty had put up with this for an hour as the two of them argued over different types of plants and now on their seventh wrongly mistaken magical plant the Hufflepuff had lost her temper. Lifting her head and glaring over the Ravenclaw’s, her eyes fixed upon them with a look that a basilisk would be proud of.
“THAT IS IT!” All talking stopped and everyone glared at Girty. “A bubotuber is black and looks like a slug not red or green. And its puss is yellowey-green and causes rather painful boils if undiluted. If you use it correctly then yes, it will help cure acne and your friend is right spotty dotty you bloody well do need it!”
With a huff she collected up her book and stormed out of the library to the sniffles of the Ravenclaw and surprisingly a cheer from a group of Slytherin’s. That had toed the line and with instead of heading back to the commonroom Girty stormed off down to Hogsmeade and to the Three Broomsticks!
Pushing open the door Girty was hit by the sound of laughter, music and more importantly the smell of alcohol. That is what she needed a nice cool pint of cider (yes very lady like) and a sit down in silence away from annoying…”MAXI!” She shouted as she saw the Gryffindor sitting on his own in the pub, with an attempt of a wave seeing as her arms were still full of books Girty stumbled over towards his table and dropt them and her bag down. “What are you doing here? No exams to revise for?” Not even asking if the seat was taken Girty slid into the chair opposite the Gryffindor and stared at him, her face full of joy and thoughts of annoying Ravenclaw’s already flying out the window.

He would happily say it was quite entertaining watching those who were already drunk blunder their way through the pub. He wondered if this was what he looked like when he was intoxicated. More than likely. Max watched curiously as a couple sped-danced on the floor, completely out of sync with each other and in even less time with the actual song. If they believed they looked good dancing on like that then they were seriously mistaken.
Draining the remainder of his drink, he walked to the bar laughing at the people who tried to grab him to dance. He was not drunk enough to dance with a complete stranger. Getting himself another drink, he wound his way back through the mass of people and back to his seat. He never really sat and watched people before, never really had the time or the patience but now, being quite alone gave him the opportunity to study people in their more stupid states. He would admit, some were actually kind of amusing.
He was sat pretty much facing the bar and could see the door clear as day too. When he sat it open from the corner of his eye he didn’t really take much notice, more interested in the couple in the corner who were going a bit, well… too far in their kisses and groping. Raising his eyebrows slightly, the blonde looked away, preferring to turn to the bar and watch people fall off their stools because of how unsteady they were. Heaven knew he had done it himself many a time.
”MAXI!”
Turning his head ever so slightly he saw the figure of Girty, clad arms full of books. It made him smile seeing her in a pub with books. Not exactly something you would bring, but each to their own. She was soon perched in front of him, an irremovable smile was on his face. ”Im drinking, obviously. Plan on having a bit of fun tonight.” It wasn’t widely known about his and Laneys recent breakup. Yet some knew, he didn’t know if Girty was one of those few. ”Oh yeah, I have exams alright… and as Headboy I should really be studying rather than… well… this. Still, study or drink? No competition really just don’t tell off me”
”What are you doing here anyway?” Honestly and truthfully he hadn’t expected to see her here but he hadn’t seen her in ages so it made a welcome change. ”Not that I’m complaining!”

Carefully repositioning the location of her books on the table Girty kept on looking up with a wide grin at Maxi every time he spoke. It had been a while since she had last seen her Gryffindor friend and at times like these it was always good to find something to pick her up a bit. She could not help to think however, as she sat in the three broomsticks, her reading glasses still on, her hair in a very untidy ponytail that she did look a bit of a mess. Here was everyone out for a good night and she was sitting here looking more like a Ravenclaw then a Hufflepuff…it was no wonder she was getting odd looks.
At his statement about him drinking she could not help but laugh. “Well I can see that, but having fun sounds like a good idea. I might have to join you there.” Now that was a true Hubbles thing to do, just invite yourself along to the party and then while your there drink yourself stupid and most likely pick someone up along the way. She was single after all but the only problem was as she looked around the pub there was not really anyone that had potential. “Oh yeah, forgot you were head boy now how…actually hold that thought.”
Girty raised a finger up to him to signal shush as she stood up and hurried over to the bar, squeezing in between to middle age wizards giving each a polite smile and a small greeting. Manors got you everywhere in life and even further when in a pub and not only did the two very kind wizards let Girty get served first but one of them even brought her a drink in promise of a dance later, a promise which she was counting on him forgetting.
Wondering back to Maxi with her half a pint (she had to show some female decorum when trying to get a free drink) she sat back down opposite Maxi and sipped on the cold drink, slapping her lips together in satisfaction of the good tasting cider. “So anyway, how are you coping with the big responsibility of being my bro’s right hand man?” Girty was trying to focus the conversation fully on Maxi as she really did not want to delve into the whole ‘how are you’ question as there is only so many times she can say ’My boyfriend dumped me as I kissed my brothers best mate who also happens to be the potions master’ that story was getting old by now.

Max smiled when she put her books down on the table, personally he would have put them under it. More room then on the table for more drinks. It was good seeing Girty again, though he had no idea about her split from Alex, all he knew was that they had a fight but that was all Alex would say on the matter and Max preferred not to pry into it either. If either wanted him to know they would tell him, but really it was none of his business. Leaning over the table, he slid her glasses off, put them on top on her books, pulled out the bobble holding her hair in place and ran his hand through it to ruffle it out a little bit, making her look a little bit more like she was actually here for the beer rather than to study. ”That’s better, now we can see your pretty little face more!” He laughed and sat back down.
”You’re welcome to join me! Honestly I could use the company” Though he was always in high spirits, he couldn’t help feeling his split from Laney had somewhat calmed him down. Well, not for long, he planned on seeing to that tonight. ”Well, to be honest the only reason I took the place was so I could see Laney more but…” He shrugged, ”… well now she’s not head girl anymore and besides… it wouldn’t make a difference even if she was. To be honest, I don’t know what being Dan’s right hand man is like, I barely do anything. Just stand around and look important.” He laughed again. She got up and left. He watched her with quiet curiosity as she made her way back to the bar.
He smiled when he saw her squeeze in the middle of two men, obviously using her girlie charms to get a free drink. Too bad, being a guy, he couldn’t do the same. He had many charms but he didn’t think he’d get away with doing anything like that. He drained some more of his glass as his blue eyes watched her carefully and a little protectively. Afterall, she was now here with him tonight so he didn’t want any old geezer trying to pull a fast one on her.
Once she was back over at the table with him he relaxed slightly, but part of him kept his eyes on the two men at the bar. Afterall, if she was to be molested on his watch Alex would have a hissy fit at him and right now, he didn’t need that. The two continued their conversation, though it seemed to Max as though it wasn’t only him avoiding the ‘how are you’ question. She also seemed reluctant to both say and hear it. Still, he wasn’t going to pry into why. He was here, she was here. They were gonna have fun no matter what. Max caught the barman’s eye and signalled for two more firewhiskys, which he brought over and placed in front of the blonde haired lad. Smiling as he left he turned to Girty, ”So, how drunk do you plan on getting?” As soon as he said it, he remembered the last time they were drunk together, she had kissed him, then Max being Max went over and kissed Alex, and then Blake. Well, there were plenty of people in the pub tonight who he could snog… too bad none of them really interested him.
But. You don’t have to like or know someone to kiss them, do you?

Now this was a scene from a muggle film. The geeky girl sits down with her armful of books, hair up and glasses on in front of the good looking hero of the story. Then when the story had built up enough the geeky girl would be turned into a beautiful butterfly simply by the removal of the glasses and undoing of the hair…okay so it would be a very cheap movie but still that is what seemed to have happened between Girty and Max. However in the film the chances where the geeky girl would resist, while Girty…well she just seemed to enjoy the whole thing as a rather cheeky smile had appeared on her face. Well, she was a Hubbles after all!
It was then when Max said something that made Girty sit up in her seat a bit and look over at her friend with a slightly bemused smile. She was trying to work out what he had meant by mentioning Laney, of course Girt knew that Dan had picked Ellie Rook to be the new head girl but that did not seem to bother Max right now, in fact he seemed to be shrugging off the topic of Laney as she did with the one of Alex. Tilting her head to one side Girty look at the Gryffindor and frowned slightly. “Laney doesn’t matter anymore? Max…w-what the hell, you would never say that of your girlfriend.”
Girty had already put two and two together and guessed they were no longer together but she still wanted conformation, out of curiosity. Max may not have wanted to pry into her life but she sure as hell wanted to know everything about him, she was very nosey that way! Of course she would respect him if he did not want to tell her, but then when the alcohol started flowing and he got a little bit tipsier it would be easier to get the information out of him. And almost as if he had been reading her mind he had signalled for more drinks to be brought over and he posed the question…how drunk did she want to get.
Her brow pinched together as Girty thought about it carefully and with a small sigh she grinned over at Max. “Not too drunk. I still want to have some self control by the end of the night.” Pushing her cider to one side Girty picked up the small shot of fire whisky and raised it to Max in a form of a toast. “Bottoms up!” She laughed just before she threw the drink into her mouth and felt the burning sensation as the liquid slid down her throat. “I have no idea why I drink this.” She groaned as she put the empty glass on the table. “You’re a bad influence on me Max!”

It wasnt like Max really cared what Girty looked like. She always looked fine in his eyes, she even got the 'geeky girl in a pub' working for her but still. Max couldnt resist sliding off the glasses and undoing her hair. If she asked him why he was doing it, he wouldnt be able to answer and if he did it would probably be an on the spot thought. Which, later, may get him into trouble. Seeing the cheeky smile, he knew he wasnt about to be slapped or told off, so he grinned back before sitting back casually in his seat as though the exchange hadnt even happened.
She seemed to zone in on what he said, giving a sigh, his blue eyes found the rim of his glass and the amber liquid inside it. For a minute or so he didnt say a word. He had been made Headboy to spend more time with Laney. He broke up with Laney. Laney was replaced as Headgirl, even though she had the status first it was her who really lost out. He hadnt really wanted to go into this just yet and he thought his slight skim over the subject would make her overlook it, apparently not. "I never said she didnt matter." He looked up at her, "I believe I said it wouldnt make a difference." Smiling he ran a hand through his long blonde hair. "And yes, you're right. I would never say anything like that about my girlfriend," His eyes left her face and looked out of the window. It was darkening outside now, the light blue fading into a navy and finally a black. "Problem is she isnt my girlfriend anymore. So what she does has nothing to do with me, now. In a way, I guess it doesnt matter afterall." He never thought him and Laney would just end up falling apart. Neither one of them seemed to fight for it either, which was strange considering all they went through. Maybe they had no more fight in them for eachother? Who knows.
"Well I don't!" Max laughed as more alcohol was shoved at them, "I plan on getting pretty drunk, but from what I'm told I'm a fun drunk so all's well." He clinked his glass against hers and downed his firewhisky in one. The liquid burned all the way down as he slammed the shot glass forcefully back onto the table. He laughed when she spoke and gave a simple shrug. Maybe he was a bad influence, but he had never thought of himself that way before. Sure, he got into situations, bad ones, and did things he shouldnt but he never forced anybody to join him in his endeavours. They did because they were simply curious. How was that him being a bad influence? "Just think of me as the devil on your shoulder." He grinned and ordered another wave of beer.

Girty nervously scratched the side of her head, causing her hair to bunch up and fall out of the perfect positioning that Max had put it in. It seemed that she had hit the nail right on the head as the dazed off look in his eyes as he peered out the window into the darkening streets. Then it all came out and Girty’s hand dropped from her hair and reached out and gently placed it over Max’s hand and squeezed it gently in support. He knew how he felt to lose someone that you cared about, it sounded however that him and Laney just fell apart while she tore her and Alex apart. “I am sorry mate.” Girty soothed her friend. “I did not know.” Swallowing hard Girty retracted her hand and wrapped it around her half pint glass doing the true Hubbles thing of hiding their emotions behind an alcoholic drink.
Raising her cider to her lips she tipped the glass slightly and felt the liquid flow down her throat, the sweet taste refreshing her and quenching her thirst and cooling her burning throat from the fire whisky. “Well you can keep it all to get drunk off Max.” Girty laughed as she placed her drink on top of one of her textbooks. “But yes, you are fun when drunk.” Her mind thought back to a time in the day when the pub when they had a small party, alcohol had been flowing freely and her and Max had locked lips in a playful kiss…it was a good kiss…she bite her lower lip as she thought about it. At the time she thought he was gay so it meant nothing but now, well now he was straight and she always said that if he decided to fancy girls again she would be first in line…
Snapping out of her small dream her brown eyes locked onto Max again as he teased her about being the devil on her shoulder. Her brain begged her to say ’you can be more then that’ but some how she managed to restrain herself and with a wide grin and a small laugh she raised her glass to Max in a toast. “Well I have no angle today so I think you’re going to be a bad influence on me Mr Hennerdale …a very bad influence.” And almost to back her statement up the bar man came over with another tray full of pints placing them on the empty glass and book full table. Puffing her cheeks Girty breathed out and once more a laugh escaped her. “You really wanted to get drunk don’t you? I guess I could join you…if we make it interesting that is…know any good games?”

Max raised an eyebrow when she messed up her hair. Letting out a sigh, Max shook his head. Still, he knew as well as she did that she looked good with messy hair, or with perfect hair. It honestly didnt matter, she made anything work for her. Looking out of the window, Max told her what happened between himself and Laney, he hadnt really wanted to talk about it but he trusted Girty and knew she wouldnt run off spouting about it when he wasnt fully ready to let everyone know he was back on the market again. Personally he was afraid whether or not he would be jumped. "I know you didnt, it's alright dont worry about it." A perfect shrug off, which Max finished by draining the last of his firewhisky. Cant talk while your throat is on fire afterall. Though, when she put her hand over his, he looked down. Surprised really at just how smooth the skin was. He would have put his other one over hers if she hadnt retracted it.
"Yeah, use it an ammo!" He laughed and looked over to the dance floor, all the dancing couples which he made a funny noise at. Yet, there were quite a few singles he could accost, and by now his head was beginning to feel light, he was sure his blue eyes would by now look glassy too but he didnt care. He was out for fun and light heads, glassy eyes... it was all part and parcel. "So are you if I remember right." Of course, that could be taken in the complete wrong context, but seeing as how Max didnt elaborate it meant she could take it in any which form she chose. Yes, true, the first time they had kissed he'd been gay and so it hadnt meant anything. Though, now he wasnt gay... best be careful.
"I can live with being a bad influence!" He laughed, clinking his glass against hers. He shook his head when asked if he knew any good games. He knew an awful lot of games, but none he was about to suggest. "Heres one, practically harmless. We have to walk onto the dancefloor, first person to grab us is the person we have to dance with." It was a lame game, but honestly Max was beginning to feel restless. It wasnt until he stood up did he realise actually why. "Oh, they just went right through me!" Laughing he smiled to her, "I'll be back in a minute, I really need to use the bathroom." With that, Max toddled off, through the door and into the bathroom.
(Ugh.)

Well there is was, Maxi was single and she could tell that he was not really enjoying it, heck he never was good when he had no one to be loyal too. It was like letting a cat out among the pigeons…it was chaos! He would literally throw himself at anything and Girty guessed that is what she liked about her friend, he was a bad influence as well as being slightly erratic!
Girty’s brown eyes darted over towards the dance floor as she scanned over the potential dance partners, not really seeing anyone that she would be willing to get down and do the mamba with. As she turned back to Max she noticed that he was on his feet and muttering something about needing to use the loo. “Enjoy!” Girty shouted after him as he vanished through the crowd and towards the bathrooms, and even though she was now sitting by herself at the table sipping on her cider the Hufflepuff could not help but laugh.
Draining the last of her drink Girty slammed her half a pint glass on the table and as se reached to pick up the other drink that has been brought over the older wizard who had brought Girty the previous drink approaching. Quickly glugging down half her drink out of nervous Girty just looked forward at the empty space where Max was just wishing he was there. “Hey there, you owe me a dance.” Licking her lips Girty swallowed hard and placed her almost drunk cider down on the table. She then slowly turned her head and with a put up cheeky grin Girty looked at the scruffy looking wizard. “So I do.” She stated plainly, gently pushing her chair out from under the table and stood up, her head spinning and going slightly light headed as the quick drinking of the alcohol was taking a toll. “Are we going to get down and boogie?” The wizard tried to say smoothly, his cheap chat up line creeping Girty out ever so slightly but she still laughed and without his asking walked over towards the small dance floor at the Three Broomsticks. It seemed that she taking part in Max’s little drinking game even before he could empty his bladder.
The problem was Girty could not decide if it was a good or a bad thing the song that was now playing out at a deafening level was a fast passed one. If it had been a slow one then this alcohol reeking wizard would have pulled her close and made her sway gently with him…but this, well he was sort of thrusting his hips at her while waving his arms up in the air, it was safe to say it was not pleasant. Glancing back over towards the table Girty saw the blond haired Gryffindor sitting back down and she could not help but let a sigh of relief escape her, but she could not look at Max for long as she as sure as hell did not trust the man that was dancing with her. “Who’s that?” The man moved closer to Girty, placing his head next to her ear (too close for Girty’s liking) and shouted over the cloud music. “The guy you keep looking at?” “Max?” Girty replied, wrinkling her nose slightly at the guy’s bad breath. “He…he is my boyfriend!”
The wizard did not say anything else and instead he took a step back, glanced over at Max with a wide grin on his face and then, like a creature from the plains of Africa, started to dance even more erratically around her as if trying to state his claim. With wide eyes Girty looked over at Maxi and mouthed the words ‘what the hell’ and pointed at the alcohol fuelled wizard who was now attempting to dance like a robot. “I…I am going to go…” Girty tried to slip away but the guy did not want to let her go. “Come on I brought you a drink, at least dance with me for one song.” He had a point and begrudgingly, and one last look over at Max she continued to dance.

In the bathroom, Max gave a long sigh as he emptied his alcohol bladder. The mirror infront of him allowed him to see who else was in there with him. He noticed one of the men who had bought Girty a drink before stood next to him. Well, this was dandy wasnt it? He asked him who the girl he was with was, Max told him she was someone close to his heart. He didnt say anything like she was his girlfriend, but that was the impression he had given him. Knowing full well his friend was after her, and Max was hoping he'd pass the message along. Once he was finished, he said an abrubt bye, washed his hands and headed back out in the overcrowded pub.
Making his way through the crowd, he ignored the little gropes he got, intent on getting back to the table and finding his friend, he didnt want her mixing with no good morons like the guy in the bathroom, though to his dismay she wasnt at the table at all. Where... oh. He looked out to the dance floor and saw her looking very awkward on the floor. He wasnt surprised at all, as he sat down, he'd look just as awkward if he was forced to dance with a moron too. She caught his eye and he gave her a smile, though his eyes narrowed when he looked at the man. Max didnt like the way he kept getting too close to her, or the way he looked at her. Touch her, and you'll know what it feels like to have someone's foot up your arse. He thought to himself, and though he stayed sat down, he kept a careful watch on his friend.
Max saw him lean towards her, say something and she sort of cringed away from him before replying in what looked like a very rushed kind of way. Max had no idea what she had said, but it was clear from the guys look that he did not like it. "need another drink?" A girl asked him, standing over him with a smile, he looked up at her, she wasnt someone who worked here that was for sure and he wasnt about to start flirting when he had Girty's back to watch. "No, I'm good thanks." He replied and looked back over to his friend. "She seems like she's having fun." Max looked at the girl and raised an eyebrow, Right... sure if you're blind. She looks like she's having pins shoved under her nails. "So why dont you and--" Max turned to her and shook his head, "I'm sure you're a very nice girl and all but I'm not interested." With that he turned away, though as she kept on talking it was obvious she wasnt about to back off easily.
Max caught the grin on the guys face and in return, Max scowled. As he caught Max's scowl, the man began dancing even closer to Girty, Max was growing annoyed. He looked at Girty and caught her look, signalling her to come back over here, away from that moron. She tried to slip away but the guy caught her arm and wouldnt let her go. It seemed by her face she was being forced to stay with the bloke, annoyed, Max drained the last of his drink and stood up. "Excuse me, I have to go and rescue her." He said to the girl before making his way upto the dancefloor.
"I think I'll have my girl back now." Max said, his voice sounding a little harsh as he took Girtys hand and spun her round to face him. There were a lot of things Max wanted to say to the guy, but saying any one of them would result in a fight and he wasnt in the mood for a bar brawl. "Are you alright?" He asked as he kept a hold of her, not wanting the guy to get any more ideas. Though, the guy was still stood behind her and giving Max a glare that would put a Slytherin to shame.

This was one of the reasons Girty preferred the Hogshead. In her cousins pub she could just sit in the corner or backroom with her books open sipping slowly on a pint of ice cold cider. This was in sharp contrast to the Three Broomsticks as today was showing as here was Miss Hubbles in the awkward situation of having to dance with a complete stranger simply because he brought her a drink. At the Hogshead she gets free drinks all the time and the added bonus was that she had not dance for them as payment…knowing that just made this whole situation feel so degrading. Thankfully Max was her handsome knight in shinning armour and the sound of his voice somehow managed to sound out over the booming music and boy did he take charge. His voice was so demanding as if he was so certain of himself and the look on the man’s face showed that he too could hear the note of determination and then, while she was still admiring her friend, Max took hold of her hand and spun her round in such an eloquent way it was as if they were dancing to the music around them.
Girty found her body now pressing against Max’s, their faces where only inches apart and she could feel the warmth of his breath on her face, smell the alcohol as he asked her if she was alright. Girty was not sure if it was the alcohol or the stunning light blue eyes she was now looking right into but she was lost for words, instead all she could do was nod her head slowly, her mouth hanging open slightly as she gawped at Max.
The song in the background had ended and it seemed almost on cue, as the couple reminded close a slow song sounded out around the pub. The dance floor seemed to empty of all the single people looking for a good time leaving only kissing couples and drunken blocks with their arms over each other’s shoulders as they swayed and sung out of tune to the music. The man who had brought Girty the drink however reminded in the background, as Girty’s brown eyes passed over to him she swore she saw him going for his wand and so the young Hubbles took the only action that seemed fitting for this moment in time…she kissed Max.
She now had no idea what the man was doing as her eyes with closed as she was lost in the tenderness of the kiss. It was just as good as she remembered and he tasted just like her memory had treasured, although this time the bitter of his beer was more prominent. It seemed like the only sensible thing to do at the time, she had after all called Max her boyfriend and she in a slow song, under the spotlight surrounded by other couples it seemed appropriate. It must have been the Hubbles gene! Braking away from the kiss Girty breathed out deeply, looking away into the distance knowing that there was no way she would be able to look Max in the eye after that. “Sorry.”

If Max had known that as soon as he left, Girty would be thrown into the hands of some idiotic drunk he'd have dragged her to the toilets with him. She'd have been much safer there. Still, Max didnt think anybody would go too far over the top, and besides, Girt knew how to handle herself, didnt she? Well he hoped so at any rate. Walking back through the overcrowded pub, the blonde girl who kept trying to get Max to dance with her was following him. In reality, he was growing a little annoyed at her, following him like a lost little puppy dog but what could he do? Short of saying, 'look will you just piss off,' there wasnt much else he could do, and Max didnt like to think himself as rude, but who knew? Getting back to their table, Max noticed she wasnt there and instantly looked out to the dance floor where she was dancing with a moron who looked ready to fall over than dance. Not that he could dance. He simply shifted his feet and waggled his fingers. Talk about dancing only one way, yeesh.
He was sure of himself as he told the guy to back off. The blonde who had followed him to the floor gave Girty a piercing look but Max didnt care, he wasnt into the blonde mutton-dressed-as-lamb deal thankyou very much. Twirling Girty around to face him, he pressed his arms around her back and pulled her close to him, swaying gently with the music. He whispered into her ear asking if she was alright, keeping a close eye on the man who wanted to be in Max's place right about now. Girty didnt answer him but instead just nodded her head. Max didnt know why she was so silent, maybe the traumatic experiance of having a guy accost you who you didnt even know. Who knew? He looked back at her and found her gawping up at him, his brow furrowed in confusion, though a smile played on his lips. "Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked with a laugh. It was strange, in all their years of friendship, they had never been in a situation like this before.
Max was about to leave the dancefloor once the song had ended and sit back down. Though, before he could do anything even remotely close to moving, Girty had grabbed hold of the back of his neck and pulled his face down to hers. His eyes widened in slight shock as she kissed him, wondering what on earth brought this on. Still, it wasnt as though he was complaining, no on the contrary he was very much enoying himself. Wrapping his arms around her once more, he pulled her closer to him again. Max didnt know the reason she had kissed him was to save his backside from a hex, he thought she was kissing him because she wanted to. How awkward and embarrassed would he be if he found it she was saving him.
As she pulled back, Max looked at her questioningly. Especially when she apologized. What on earth was going on? He didnt know, but he had liked the kiss and would have preferred it to have gone better, preferably without him stuttering at first because he was taken by surprise. It was such a strange feeling, he was kissing one of his closest friends and yet, he just couldnt seem to care. "Im not." He smiled at her when she apologized, reaching back up, he cradled the back of her head in his hand. "I'm definatly not sorry." He wasnt blind, he could see she wasnt looking at him and in fact, was looking anywhere but him. "Hey... Girt?" He asked coyly, knowing she would look at him if he spoke directly to her, once she was looking at him again, he bent down and kissed her... again... now whether this was a very stupid thing to do? Or if it wasnt... was soon to be found out.

If someone had told Girty an hour ago she would be on the dance floor after a few, rather quick drinks snogging Max she would have laughed in their face and walked off muttering about how they needed to go to St Mungo’s. But then reality had a way of twisting and turning and the phrase ‘life is a rollercoaster’ seemed to fit this whole situation perfectly. Right now they were defiantly on the loop the loop bit as the world was spinning and turning upside down faster then you could say ‘flobberworm mucus’. However it seemed that Max had come along for the ride as well as before Girty knew what had happened she had automatically turned to look at him after he said her name and BAM! Their lips were locked once more and a friendly game on tonsil tennis had begun! Girty’s hands began to explore Max’s body before finding a home positioned nicely on his cute little backside.
Every time Girty went out as she saw people making out on the dance floor she would always roll her eyes and have a little natter with her friends about how inappropriate that sort of behaviour was. It was stranger that now the places had been reversed how natural and un awkward it was. People maybe have been looking on with disgust but all that mattered to Girty was the man who she had her arms wrapped around.
Finally the kiss had to end as Girty suddenly became aware that she was getting that little bit breathless from the action. However this time she did not look away or apologise, in fact she simply rested her head upon Max’s shoulder and swayed gently to the music. A small smile filled her face as she thought about what she was doing and how she could not help but wonder if she was already starting to follow her brother’s footsteps. A broken heart caused by a Ravenclaw and the Hubbles belief that alcohol and meaningless sex would help mend it…maybe one day one of them would work out that was not how it was done.
“I am not using you, just so you know.” Girty spoke these words out loud more out of trying to reassure herself more then Max. “Alex means nothing to me.” The lie tasted bitter on her tongue and she ignored the stabbing pain in her heart…but then it was what Alex believed so maybe it was true.
