It was a rather nice day for this time of year as Kieran walked out onto the lawns, breathing in the scent of the fresh air. The Gryffindor certainly had his work cut out for him this year. He had captaincy of the Gryffindor Team, which was all well and good except he didnt like going against the Ravenclaws for obvious reasons. Not to mention he had his NEWTS to work for and of course, the most important. He had to find a way to keep Fay interested in him, he knew he had more than a little bit of competition when it came to her and he was determined he was not going to lose her.
If he was honest with himself though, he wasnt used to this much pressure. Usually Kieran just sailed through life, through his studies and whatever else. He wasnt Ravenclaw Intelligent but he certainly had a good brain in his head. However, it felt like it was turning to mush and he needed a break from everything. When he joined the Quidditch team he only did it because Ollie had asked him to, he hadnt known Ollie would be Captain for a couple of weeks and then boom, resign his post and Kieran ended up taking over. Shaking his head as he walked out into the morning air, feeling the brisk air wipe away all and any cobwebs in his mind. He had an idea, he needed a break and he wanted to do something nice for Fay, nice and normal. Something a boyfriend would do for a girlfriend.
Walking back into the Castle and down into the kitchens he asked the Elves to prepare some food for a midnight picnic. They all seemed too happy to oblige him. Once that was done he sent an owl to Fay, who would find her wherever she was and told him to meet her by the lake at midnight. This gave him nothing to do now but avoid her all day so she couldnt get out of him what he had planned. Of course this was difficult, being in lessons with her and not sitting all that far from her but he refused to catch her eye and instead fell into conversation with whoever he was sat next to or worked unusually hard on his work. When lessons ended, Kieran jumped up and ran out of the room before she could ask him what was going on. He didnt like this at all, he didnt like the fact he couldnt speak to her without fear of telling her what he was planning.
Dinner came and went.
Darkness fell.
Twenty past eleven rolled around and he began making his way out of the common room.
Max of course had something to say about that, but Kieran explained what he was doing and Max, knowing how much Fay meant to Kieran, let him go, saying what he didnt see he cant stop. Running down to the kitchens he got the basket full of goodies, pumpkin juice and lemonade, sandwiches and cakes, and headed towards the lake. He didnt have much time at all, he laid the blanket out on the floor, the moonlight shining down on the lake's surface casting a pretty silver glow upon it. Using his wand he created little balls of silver light which floated around the picnic area. He had nothing to do now but wait for Fay.
Strange.
He'd never have done this for anyone.
But for Fay?
He'd probably walk all the way around the world.
