Sarie was lying out in the grass next to the lake. She was bored and didn't really have any one to hang out with. Most of her friends had other things to do. She looked at the darkening sky. She like being alone but not all the time. She wish there was some one who just understood her. They seem to think she like being alone all of the time. She did get lonely sometimes.
Just no one understood her thought she was younger than she really was. Most people thought she was a first year. She didn't want to be alone right now. She really didn't.

It was typical really, the time that Alfie finally got to himself away from his work and the beautiful blue skies and golden sun where being hidden behind the gloomy looking dark clouds that were rolling in from over the castle. Yet there were still patches where the golden sunlight broke through, highlighting the ground bellow and warming the ground underneath it. It was one of these rare patches that Alfie was looking for as he slowly walked down the grassy banks of the castle and down towards the black lake. It was always a name that confused the Ravenclaw, no matter how many times he read ‘Hogwarts: A History’ he still could not pick out the reasoning behind it and so assumed it much have had something to do with the dark creatures that lived within its waters.
Finally the third year saw the patch of sunlight that he wanted to stake claim to, it was just on the waters edge. The grass looked soft and inviting and the light that hit the rippling water caused its reflections to dance in mysterious ways, yes this would be a very relaxing spot…but it seemed to have already been taken. With a slight frown Alfie approached the girl who was lying on the grass only to recognise her from some of their classes.
Wetting his dry lips Alfie stepped up to where the Gryffindor laid, the frown still pinching his brow as he tried to understand why the girl was looking so down. There was only one way however to find this out as so clearing his throat Alfie asked the question that was on his mind. “Excuse me, Sarie. Are you alright?”

Sarie looked up at he fellow 3rd year. "Yeah I'm fine." She said with a smile. "I'm just enjoying how quiet the lake is." She didn't really know what to say. She was rather shy. "Do I not look alright?" She asked. This lake held so many important things in her life was this the next one.

Every time Alfie had seen Sarie around and about the castle she had always seemed so happy, skipping along the corridors, talking to the portraits…simply in her own little world. It was something that always fascinated the Ravenclaw, how someone could be so happy with the society of only them selves. Although Alfie spent a lot of time in the company of his books he still had his tuition pals and class mates to talk too. But even as she asked whether or not she looked blue Alfie was still taken aback, his hand nervously scratching the back of his neck as he looked down at the Gryffindor.
“Well…” How was he going to explain this? He could not just say ’I felt your aurora’ , he would sound like some crazy Divination geek. But there was just something about the way Sarie was laying there that just made him think she was not all herself. “You are not smiling. You always smile.”
He realised it might be a rather creepy, almost stalkerish thing to say but if people are happy with life they smile, it is a simple fact and with a small shrug Alfie dropped his bag to the floor and looked around the grassy banks making sure that non of Sarie’s friends where approaching. “Do you mind if I join you?” He pointed down at the grass to indicate that is what he meant. “I came out here looking for a place to sit.”

He noticed that she wasn't happy. Man he must be psychic to be able guess that. She kept the smile for everyone else. She just wanted to be herself around someone. She knew what she was sad about. She couldn't understand. What had happened why had the paintings acted like that. Why where they hurting people. She didn't want to think about the dragon.
It had been alive but she wished they hadn't killed it. It was lost confused and didn't even know it was out of it's frame most likely. She sighed. "No not at all, she patted the grass next to her."

Maybe this had been a dangerous topic to approach as the little Gryffindor did not mention it; she seemed to be looking out over the lake. Tilting is head to one side a small frown creased the Ravenclaw’s brow as he sat down on the small patch of green grass next to the Gryffindor. The only problem was now he did not know what to say. Sarie was being so quiet that Alfie felt nervous sitting here by her and he started to wish that he had gone to the library instead. So there they sat, just looking out over the glistening lake trying to find something to say but then he had never really had a conversation with Sarie before so it was like sitting next to a stranger on the bus. You feel like you should say something but you can not help but it would be inappropriate if they person next to you is thinking about their own separate things.
“Are you okay?” His voice was slightly weak as he tried to look over at the Gryffindor finding it hard to look at her as he could not help but think he was disturbing her own time. “Looking forward to the summer?”
Oh great, he was now just sprouting off uninteresting and dull questions that would only get one worded answers and they would be left to sitting there in silence once again. Nervously Alfie ran his hand through his thick blind hair and just waited for the Gryffindor’s response hoping that the conversation would take off somewhere.

The cold Scottish September breeze blew across the lake causing Alfie’s blond locks to dance around, getting tangled up and even more mattered then it had been this morning when he had fallen out of bed. Social situations where not really his forte but he had always seen Sarie in class and, well he could not explain it, he was drawn to her. It was odd, they had hardly ever talked yet he always knew that if an occasion came, just like this, then the two of them would hit it off. Maybe it was because they had similar temperaments, maybe it was something else like in a previous life they had been friends…wait what was he thinking…that was not logical. ‘Snap out of it Alfie!’
But clearly he was not the only one who was feeling slightly put out by the current social situation as it seemed that Sarie had totally ignored his spluttering of a question before hand and jumped feet first into one of her own…one that took the poor male Ravenclaw completely off guard.
“Wh-…er…what?” He looked over at the Gryffindor looking a lot like a startled rabbit caught in the headlights. No one had ever asked him anything like that before so he could not be blamed for being taken a back a fair bit and for it to come from Sarie…he had never imagined. “Er…yeah I would lov-…er…yeah I would like that.” With a small nervous cough Alfie rubbed the back on his neck. “W-where w-would you like to go?”

Sarie stared at him. She was glad he wanted to go. She felt safe around him. She could really be herself around him. She felt her cheeks warm. "You know just walk around we don't have to any thing, just walk and talk."
