There was just no way around it. The wall simply wouldn't move. Kendal had no idea what was going on. The castle was just, well, for lack of something better to say, the castle was being downright disagreeable. The wall on the fifth floor that used to move revealing a secret passageway that led down to the dungeons saving students ample time because it took down several flights refused to open. Kendal knew she was going insane she had used that passageway just yesterday. It was right across from that painting of the psycho healer who liked to yell at students telling them they had diseases they didn't. Kendal was told yesterday she had a goiter, whatever that was.
Before you were just able to tap you wand and it opened. Kendal stood there for several minutes and nothing. It aggravated her more than anything that even the castle was being stubborn. Things were just out of control and there didn't seem to be anyone doing anything about it. She would have to find some time to speak to Professor Hubbles about this because as Hufflepuff Prefect she wanted to give the students a better explanation then just I don't know.
After climbing down the stairs normally, Kendal managed to make her way to the common room and find a nice comfy chair to sink into. This was her last year there and instead of feeling good about graduation she spent most of her time worrying about what was going to happen next. Kendal often had the urge to run and leave the place never look back, but she could never do that. Hard as she might try she loved the school, it was her second home.
Trying to relax and hope that somehow things would soon change Kendal didn't realize that someone else had walked in and taken the seat right across from her.

Meleigha certainly had taken the seat across from Kendal, simply because it was the chair she always sat in. Meleigha had this thing about order and routine, it was close to obsessive compulsisve disorder, but not as serious. It was just, the chair was closer to the corner, which made it easier to be oblivious to the outside world. The chair was worn and comfortable, perfect for curling up with a good book. Too bad she hadn't had time to swing by the library.
Leigh barely noticed Kendal at all, to be honest. She was a shy girl, who seemed awfully distant. Meleigha would sometimes just stare at something for hours, seeing it from every point of view, experiencing the sight in a new way. Sure, she was a tad unconventional. Meleigha shut her eyes, feeling the warmth coming from the crackling fireplace, taking in every minute of it. She yawned, eyes opening slightly, and realized that there was another girl in the room. A small blush appeared on Leigh's structured cheeks, "Oh Hello."

Ellie had been wandering around the castle. She had left Dan standing at the gates of Hogsmeade about an hour ago, and she just didn't want to go back to the common room. Ellie climbed down the stairs to the fifth floor and walked down the hallway. She stood at a window looking out to the lake and sighed. Without Dan she felt like her heart was torn in two.
If Ellie had been in the right state of mind maybe she would be scared of how strong a hold the boy had on her. He was all she thought about, and all she waited for. Her grades were slipping and she just didn't want to talk to or see anyone else.
Ellie left the window and walked down the next corridor to the next set of stairs. She decided it was time to go to the common room and relax infront of the fire until she decided she was tired enough to go to bed. The new head girl was off for the night, thankfully. She wasn't in the mood to go around the castle in the dark. Ellie, most of all, knew something weird was happening in the castle, though she had yet to strangle it out of the headmaster.
As Ellie walked down the corridor she saw Kendal, the girl who had took her prefect place in the Hufflepuff house, standing looking at a wall, not looking exactly happy. Ellie wasn't in the mood to start a conversation, so she continued on her way, going down another flight of stairs and walking along the fourth and then third floor until she made her way all the way to the Hufflepuff common room.
By the time Ellie made it to the common room, she spotted the Kendal had already made it to her seat. Ellie sighed and made her way over to the fire and plopped on the couch, stretching out her legs on the coffee table in front of her. Kendal and another girl Ellie recognized as Meleigha, another seventh year, were lounging about. Ellie smiled at both of them when she got herself comfortable.
"So, Kendal...was I imagining things, or were you recently trying to walk through walls?" Ellie said with a smile, trying to be friendly, though something inside of her was holding her back and telling her to just get up and walk away without an answer. That something sounded a whole lot like Dan, but ellie was ignoring it currently and didn't catch on.

Kendal had been sitting there a while not really paying attention to much. She had just wanted to sit there in the common room and contemplate things. The school, and the way it had changed, her life and what she intended to do with it once she graduated. These thoughts plagued her mind on a daily basis now. School wouldn't last forever and soon she would be thrust out into the real world, but what was she going to do then, she still had no idea.
As she sat there her eyes closed, her mind wandering she heard a voice, it was sort of faint so Kendal opened her eyes and realized that there was another girl there. She was a seventh year girl if Kendal was right in her assumption. At the moment they only thing she was having trouble remembering was her name. Kendal was sometimes rubbish when it came to names especially when she wasn't in constant contact with someone.
Saying hello back Kendal followed up by asking "So how are you?" while she was taking time to think of what her name was the common room door opened again and in walked Ellie Rook. She came and sat down by the fire. Kendal smiled at her. The two girls knew each other from school but Kendal and Ellie never really spent much time associating. Not that Kendal had anything against her, no that wasn't the issue at all, they just didn't really have the chance to hang out or really get to know each other that well.
So when Ellie made her little joke Kendal was a bit taken off guard though she did her best not to show it. Instead she laughed out loud then said "Yeah that damn wall usually talks back but today it was putting on a show." Smiling she said "In all seriousness the castle is acting up, I mean even the passageways are refusing to allow people access it's a bit odd. I really want to go speak to Headmaster Hubbles when I have the chance" Kendal sat back again making sure she was comfortable, she wasn't doing anything now but she didn't feel like leaving the common room to go look for him.

Armed with supplies Jamie-Syrus was on his way back to the commonroom after spending far too much time in the sun for his liking. The Hufflepuff preferred winter much more when the light hours where shorter and even when the sun was out it was normally hidden behind dark clouds, at the moment this summer heat wave that seemed to have been attacking Scotland was something he was not enjoying. As a result he was glad when he reached the sanctuary of the castle but after entering at the clock tower he needed to make his way through the school and at the present moment in time that was a tricky thing., His normal shortcut was inaccessible as the portrait was having a mard and he must have taken a wrong turn as corridor he was convinced was meant to be there was no longer there…that was odd.
***
“What do you need to see Dan about?” Jamie-Syrus questioned as he finally managed to find his and enter the Hufflepuff commonroom, his pockets full of sweets from his recent visit to Honeydukes and as always that cheeky little smile on his face. He looked around at the three girls who were having a nice little chat before jumping over the back of one of the sofa’s and flopping down upon it, spreading his legs out over the three spaces and digging into his pockets and pulling out handfuls of gummy sweets and liquorish wands. Popping a load into his mouth Jamie-Syrus looked up at the ceiling of the commonroom and hummed himself a little tune while his mind wondered onto lots of different things.
Maybe he should have been paying attention to the other people that he was now sitting with in the commonroom. Kendal was after all his fellow house prefect while he had also shared that partnership with Ellie before she got her promotion to head girl. He must have made the worst fellow prefect not really doing much other then hang around the corridors talking to the portraits or spending his hours of duty in Dan’s office with his cousins rather then patrolling…but then he did get the role out of connections and not because he was a hard worker! The other girl he knew only by face but not by name after seeing her around the commonroom over the years seeing as she was in the year above him he did not talk to her much.
