The formality of it all did seem odd for Dan considering he would have normally thrown a potato at both Ellie and Max to get there attention and then with a mouthful of food shouted something incoherent at them and stumble off intoxicated to the backroom where he more then likely would have forgotten why he had called them there in the first place. But that was part of the problem; the ‘normal’ Dan Hubbles was not the one who was now holding the wooden door open for the head boy and girl to walk through. Acting his thirty year old self was just too much for Dan, he hated the mere fact that he was being responsible and serious…it just did not become him.
Carefully closing the door behind him the headmaster took a deep breath as soon as Ellie spoke as straight away it just seemed to hit the whole situation home that little bit more. Licking his dry lips the Professor turned around to look upon the two students and he tried to offer them an encouraging smile. “Not yet.” He tried to joke as he tried to get his eyes to stay upon either Ellie or Max and not the floor of the small room. “I think it very shortly will though. That woman who was at the Staff Table was from the ministry and she has come to keep a close eye on us…well, a close eye on me.”
Honesty was always the best policy, or at least so his mother used to say and to these two, who arguably where his favourite students in the place and as a result he felt that maybe due to loyalty to his sister in Max’s case or to the house they both love so dearly in Ellie’s he could trust them. “I am going to need both of you to help me. I do not want to put extra pressure on either of you so if you do not think you can handle it then…well I guess you can just step down from your role.”
That maybe was a little blunt and unnecessary but he was determined to have people by his side that would be willing to stand and fight for him if the going got tough. “Can I trust you guys?”

Victoria didn't mind the start of term feast but with everything that happened it was hard to get back to the regular scheme of things. There was still a bit of tension at least on her part. She was trying to act normal but it was hard at least for her. She kept glancing at one end of the table at Dan and Dia. For Dan she only wore a scowl for Dia she felt guilty. Despite it all Vicky had genuinely liked the woman and had no idea how she could have done something so horrible to her. Vicky wished day after day that she could take the whole thing back, it would have made life easier for everyone, but time turners were pretty much impossible to get one's hands on so for now Vicky would have to live with it.
All she could do was be there and be normal. She couldn't help wishing that Warren was there with her maybe then she wouldn't feel so odd and out of place. Trying to do her best she managed to keep conversations going with her fellow professors. Talk of the new term brought with it a slight distraction. It made her realize that she had to get her lesson plans ready. Charms wasn't going to teach itself.
There was a bit of a kerfuffle at the entrance to the Great Hall, some woman very official looking showed up. Vicky tried to act as if she wasn't paying any attention, but her eyes kept darting over there wondering what was going on. Next thing she knew the lady was joining them. There's no way she was another professor there all the known professors were already there. Hmm this should be interesting she thought.

Ellie took a nice long sigh of relief as the Professor informed them that, no, they wouldn't have to immediately spring into action. Ellie was expecting him to tell them to go hunt down a troll in the basement or something absurd. Ellie would have been grateful to do it, but cherry cheesecake had just been scooped up before she had been retrieved from the table.
However, by the somber look on the Headmaster's face, this was a serious matter. Ellie got back in the swing of things, and tried to seem as grateful for her position as she really was, it was just trying after the long train ride in.
Ellie remembered the woman that the Professor was talking about. Ellie thought it was odd, but perhaps just a new professor, late, but then she knew it wasn't good once she saw the look on the Headmaster's face. It was plain to see that he was overly worried about the attention that was going to be paid to him this year. Ellie understood why, but she wouldn't want someone digging into your career or your personal life, which she was sure it would come down to.
Ellie figured that the woman would also be watching those closest to the Headmaster. Dia, Lucas, Girty, even Ellie herself, but she wasn't going to give into the woman. Ellie had already thought and decided in the three seconds after the Professor posed the question of loyalty that Ellie was going to stick it out. Partly because of her love and caring devotion to the Headmaster, and partly because she didn't think that she could escape the whole fiasco by giving away her head spot, which made her so happy.
Ellie was the first to speak out of the head pair. "Professor, you have me in your ranks for anything you need." She said, smiling, placing a hand on his arm, trying to lighten the mood. Though she knew that it was very serious, she also knew that if the Headmaster took it too too seriously, he would absolutely drive himself crazy with stress, and it was so difficult dealing with him when he got to that point.

Max of course didnt really have a clue what was going on. Typical of the blonde boy, blissfully oblivious to anything that didnt have something to do with him. Yet, because of Girty, Max would always be loyal to the Headmaster, sure Max might not always agree with what the Headmaster said, not might he always think he was the most stable or best suited for the job, but because Girty was a very close friend of his, he would always stand by any of the Hubbles's.
Max bit down on his lip, he looked at Dan with his brow furrowed and spoke before he was able to stop himself. "Geez, so It's do or give up your title? Pretty ultimatum." His voice was hard but anyone who knew anything about Max knew he didnt like ultimatiums, and he wasnt a coward and so naturally, when someone said something like that to him he wasnt about to just back down or run away with his tail between his legs.
It was Ellie who spoke first, however she seemed to be willing to do just whatever Daniel was about to tell them to do. Whether it be wrestle a werewolf or jump off the astronomy tower. Max was obviously uncomfortable here, it showed by how he was chewing his bottom lip, not looking the headmaster in the eye and shifting from one foot to the next. He was aware it was now his turn to say whether he was in or not but the fact was, Max didnt know what Daniel was asking them to do and therefor, he wasnt comfy with it because Max hated the unknown.
"What is it you're asking us to do, exactly?" He asked, his voice wary, he knew of course of the mad things Dan did last year, so it was only natural he was wary. "Or is it a need to know basis, you'll tell us when its the right moment?" He turned from Ellie and Dan and folded his arms, evidentally thinking about something. He knew what dangers came when you just jumped in without considering properly. Finally after a couple of minutes he turned and slapped his hands on his legs. "Alright. I'm in, whatever it is you want us to do. You can trust me."
Apart from anything. The blonde was curious.

Everyone around her seemed to breaking into conversations about their summers. The trips they went on, the shops they hit, the things they've seen. It was all nice and everything but really who cared. The world was full of more important things than if you went to Paris or Istanbul over the break. Alexis had always been a serious girl but the vacation had hardened her some more. Shawn simply disappeared from her life without so much as a word, not that she really cared r expected any less. Men always seemed to prove untrustworthy when you looked at the big picture. Alexis didn't even bother trying to see if he was there though part of her wished he was. She was truly hurt because she thought he really cared for her. Alexis' pretty face showed her rage and she quickly fixed it so no one would see, all her life she hoped not to be one of those ditzy girls who got so wrapped up on a guy she forgot who she was.
Turning her head away from the others at her table she noticed a conversation going on between the Headmaster and some students. Alexis couldn't help but wonder what that was all about. Her eyes narrowed as she tried to focus on that instead of what was really going on inside her head. Sitting there she made up some little conspiracy theories like maybe the Head of the prestigious school was creating a student army to combat whatever it was that was going on in the school. Or maybe he was getting them to be snitches tattling on their fellow classmates. Alexia was enjoying herself until all too soon someone was asking her if she had a good summer. Turning her head to the sound of the voice Alexis plastered on a fake smile and starred to answer still wondering about the meeting taking place in the corner.
