Carolanne looked into her empty trunk before shutting it with a smile. Finally she had finished unpacking every item she owned, she just hoped her Mother and Step-Father wouldn't come to Hogwarts and pull her home by her hair. She stared at the picture that sat next to her bed. In it were the following: Vera, Daniel, Carolanne and Ashton. Of course, Ash and Dan were no where near eachother but at least the two were smiling. It was the last photo the family had taken together. Next to that photo was a smaller one of a three year old Laney and Matthew, her birth father.
She sighed as she turned around and headed out of her dorm. She came into the main room of the commonroom with a photo album clutched in her hands. Sitting her newly claimed spot on the couch, she layed the album across her lap and started to page through it. It started with pictures of Baby Carolanne Elizabeth and ended with the beautiful young woman she was today. Naturally, the pictures weren't all of her but included her family as well. She didn't even look up when she heard another Ravenclaw wonder into the Commonroom.

Felicity put her hands on her hips as she looked down in her trunk. Where did she put it? With a sigh, Fay shuffled through some of her things. No, no, no..
"Ug!"
Finally giving up, Fay turned back around and walked over to her bed. She snatched up the bar of chocolate she had been eating before and popped another piece into her mouth. Felicity hadn't been able to find her sketchpad lately. Ash probably still had it, with that ridiculous idea that people would actually pay for some of her pictures. Ha!
Felicity bounced down the stairs, popping another piece of chocolate into her mouth. Mmm chocolate. One of Fay's weaknesses. She plopped down on her favorite chair, the one near the fire, and shifted her position. Her legs rested on one armrest, and her head was on the other.
Just after snuggling into her chair, did she notice someone sitting on the couch. Huh, now who was this girl?
"Hi there!"

Laney looked up from her book when she heard a voice directed at her. She looked for the speaker and her eyes fell upon another girl, slightly older than herself. She smiled, "Hi," she said, her French accent thick today. Deciding it'd be the nice thing to do, Carolanne introduced herself, "Laney McLane," she said with a smile, "I'm not sitting in your spot am I?" she asked a little worried. Back at Beauxbatons, older students often yelled at any younger student that took their seat or favorite chair in the dormitories.

French accent, sounded nice. Felicity grinned and sat up. She stretched her arms above her head. As the girl introduced herself, Fay nearly fell out of her chair.
"Woah, woah. Back up. McLane?"
She leaned forward and place her elbows on her knees. Fay's brow furrowed as she inspected the girl. She did kind of look like Ashton. But, Ash never mentioned a sister to her. She felt rather hurt.
"I'm Felicity Locke. You Ashy's sister?"

Laney smiled, "So you're the one that stole Ash over the summer," she said closing her album, "Ive been nagging to him about you, well whether or not I was going to meet you," she said pushing herself up on her knees.
With a nod, she answered her question, "Actually I'm his step-sister but the way we are together, you'd never guess it," she said with a smile. Laney shrugged, "I consider him my blood brother," she finished. Laney inspected Fay's facial expression, "He's never told you about me, has he? Eh, wouldn't think so. He doesn't really like talking about our family, let alone our dad. You sort of have to ask in order for him to talk."

Felicity grinned and held up her hands. "Guilty!" She couldn't help but feel even a little special at what Carolanne said. She wanted to meet her. Fay felt like a celebrity!
"Step-sister eh? Cool, very cool."
Fay nodded slightly, then flushed when Carolanne mentioned Ash's dad. Daniel McLane, aka the one who Fay socked in the jaw last term. She brushed her hair nervously out of her face and hoped that Ash hadn't told his sister about Fay's little outburst. Sure, she was protecting him and all, but most people probably thought she was just insane.

Laney laughed, "You could've given me a warning or something," she said before tossing the album to the other end of the sofa. Laney couldn't help but judge Fay right away. It was a normal thing for the McLane family but she was nothing like Daniel had said. Fay was, in better terms, Cool.
Carolanne shrugged, "You could say that. Cool being Ashton's sister, but not so cool about being Daniel's daughter. If I had the courage, I'd punch him," she said with a smile. Laney nodded, "Yeah, you're famous in our house. You're pretty much the anti-christ to the rents but to me and Ash, you're like a God," she added with a laugh.

Felicity rolled her eyes and let out a large sigh. "Yea, but it's so boring to just tell someone when you're going to kidnap their sibling or son. And, I think Mr. McLane would burst through my door with a whip or something." She snorted, silently daring the man to try to lay a hand on Ash again.
Fay rubbed the back of her neck and grinned sheepishly. "Yea, I kind of lost my temper a bit. I don't tend to take it well when people hurt my friends." Her brow furrowed and she pouted a bit. "But he had it coming to him."

Laney shrugged, "Actually, Dad was gone almost all summer. It wouldn't have mattered anyway. Thankfully Mom bought my story that he was taking summer classes here. If she would've found out, she would've called Daniel; then there would've been a problem," she said staring at the book that lay a few feet from her.
Carolanne nodded as she listened, "He probably did deserve it, he probably deserves worse. It takes everything my mother and I have to get him to be at least understanding towards Ash. He'll never change, we all know that," she said with a sigh.

Felicity frowned a bit. "Oh, sorry." She leaned back against the chair and sighed. "Well, last year Ashy was telling us how cruel his father was to him, so Bray and I --Bradyn Reed that is-- kind of maybe forced him to stay with one of us." Fay grinned and shrugged. "My house was less hectic than Bray's so I won."
There was a small mew, and Shoot appeared at the bottom of the stairs. The feline jumped up onto Fay's lap and curled up. Felicity just shook her head. "If you want, you and Ashy can come visit my house any time you want. It's just me and my mom there. Oh, and Shoot and Twist, they're my cats."
Felicity was surprised to find that she felt comfortable talking to the girl. She was nice, and seemed to have a lot of the same views as Fay. "Well, you can only lead a horse to water." Felicity said with a shrug.
"So what else has Ashy told you and me and Bray eh? Tell me about yourself too, Ashy hasn't told me anything."

Laney nodded in understanding, "Well whether or not Daniel was home, I'm still happy you invited him. I don't know what would've happened if Dad hadn't gotten that job." she said picking at her shirt. When Fay said something about them both visiting her, Carolanne couldn't help but smile, "Thanks. I'll think about it for next summer," she said to her.
Laney thought for a moment, "Well, something about a band. Bray being cute but not gay," she said the last part in a laugh, "Um... Besides the whole you being a veela nothing else." she said with a grin. When Fay said she wanted to hear about herself, Laney had to think for a moment, "Well, as you already know, I'm Ash's step sister. My dad died of cancer when I was three barely 6 months after that, Vera, my mom, married Daniel. I transfered here from Beauxbatons, same as Ash," she said. Laney didn't exactly know what else to tell her, "What exactly do you wanna know?" she asked.

"Fantastic!" Felicity clapped her hands together and grinned again. "My house is probably big enough for half of Hogwarts." She tapped her chin thoughtfully for a moment. "Hmm, maybe I should throw a party for Christmas or something." Her mother was always nagging her about being more socially active anyway.
She chuckled at the comment about Bray. Maxi had said the same thing hadn't he? That, and how Bray and Fay should end up together. That boy was insane.
"I'm probably one of the strangest veela's you'll ever meet." Felicity grinned and tapped her nose. "Probably because I'm not boy crazy, I hardly care about always looking good, and most of my friends happen to be guys." She shrugged.
"Your dad died? Mine too. Except it was more of a freak accident type thing." She fell silent again as Laney went into more about her past. "Hmm, well what things do you like, what are your hobbies. Those type of things."

Laney had never been to a Christmas party and she smiled when Fay brought that up, "That'd actually be a really cool idea," she said placing runaway hairs behind her ear. Carolanne shrugged, "I like looking my best everyday. It was my mother's thing and I sort of picked it up, I guess."
Carolanne listened as Fay talked about her dad, "It's always sad to lose someone like a father. I don't remember my dad, I was too young, but I have loads of pictures of him," she said with a smile while pointing to the album.
Laney laughed and thought for a moment, "What I like? Apples," she said with a smile, "Um I never really thought about it. I can tell you my hobbies though," she said with a grin and a nod, "I'm a photographer," she said feeling confident. Her father was the real photographer. When she was 9, she found her father's old camera stashed away in the attic. She claimed it as her own so her mother wouldn't hide it again and ever, since, Laney and the camera were inseparable. "Reading, but what Ravenclaw doesn't like to read?" she asked.

Felicity frowned a bit. "My dad died when I was seven. He was a healer and well, someone came in one day and got all worked up. He shot a spell and it hit my dad directly in the chest." She sighed and leaned back in the chair. "But, he's in a better place now, and probably happy where he is."
"Photographer? Really? You just became my new favorite person." Fay grinned again and leaned forward. "I'm an amateur artist. Ash might've showed you some of my drawings since he took my sketchbook." She glared up at the ceiling. "Which I still need back!"
After her little glaring match with the wall, she looked back to Laney. "Can I see some of your work?"

Laney listened intently, "I wonder if your dad was the one that treated mine. Sadly, nothing could be done with my father. The cancer was far too bad for any healer," she said sadly. Carolanne shook her head, "Nope, haven't seen any pictures. Ash probably has them stashed somewhere," she said jokingly.
Grabbing her photo album, she tossed it to Fay. "The pics I took are closer to the back. Most of them are of my family; Ash, Vera, sometimes Daniel," she said with a smile. "The ones in the front of either just me or me and my mom are the ones my father took," she said proudly.
