The Character
Name: Alex Geoffrey Cromwell

Personality: A selfish Ravenclaw, Alex cares only for himself and his well being. Right now he fights on the side of the ministry loyally and does what he is told to do with grim efficiency. Despite his loyal servitude to them he is not loyal to the ministry. If the ministry begins to lose the war in a way that ensures their demise he will switch to the winning side without a second thought. He knows of the corruption etched deep within the ministry but cares not as it does not affect him in a negative fashion. He is indifferent to the plights of others and there are few people whom Alex would care if they got into trouble with the ministry.
He is brutally honest and if asked a direct question, he will not lie unless it is to save himself. With this comes a deep self-assurance that he is always right. He is intuitive and, despite is age, in a battle it often does well to listen to his sometimes shrewd ideas. He can be charming if he wishes but most of the time his bluntness causes people to distrust and dislike him. Having lost a parent and been forced to care for his family from a young age, Alex hates pity in all forms and has a slightly bitter disposition towards family.
He is a hardened battle warrior and good in a duel. He thinks not of the consequences of his actions and will do anything to win a fight. Alex is not afraid of killing his opponents though he does try to avoid the awful deed liking his soul as whole as possible. He is a quick thinker and bodes well under pressure.
His confidence and battle skill has made him over-confident and it is likely he will someday soon be bested simply by underestimating his opponent and over estimating his own qualities.
Appearance: Alex is tall reaching around 6’3 with an athletic build. He has short brown hair with brown eyes. He has a thin with prominent cheek bones and a straight nose. He looks younger then he is. Outside of work and ministry functions Alex dons muggle clothes.
History: Alex parents, Geoffrey and Anna Cromwell, were both muggle-borns and Ravenclaws. As such he is not completely ignorant of the muggle world. He grew up in central London and attended a muggle elementary school until he received his Hogwarts acceptance letter. His father was run over by a car and killed when Alex was 3 years olds, his younger sister was one. His mother was forever changed and never fully recovered from the shock. She had her good days and her bad days but mostly she became a shadow of the woman she had once been. As a result, as Alex grew older he became more and more the leader of the family. Due to the pressure put on him by his mournful mother he grew bitter and the only person he has ever cared for in a deep loving manner is his younger sister, Anamarie. She is the one person whom he would go to the ends of the earth for. He loves his mother but blames her for their shattered family and unwillingness to continue living after loss.
He did relatively well in school, not excelling at anything in particular but remaining above average thus enabling him to be accepted into the auror program. It was one of the few times in which he saw joy in his mother’s face when she found out. She never reads the Daily Prophet or any newspaper and so he lies about his job glorifying it and downplaying the danger so that she believes that her son amounted to something worthwhile.
He has been a full time auror for eleven years now and these years have past in continuous monotony and a facade that he has created for himself. He disapproves of the ministry but does nothing about it and cares not as long as he is paid and gets a chance to do battle on occasion. He is sure he has made enemies, on both sides of the war, for his nonchalant attitude and lack of outrageous support given towards the ministry. He has hunted many rogues, roses, and civilians alike and cares not who the ministry sends him after.
He has had little romantic experience in exception to his many one night stands. He believes in love realising that his mother could love no other except for his dead father and yet he finds attachments dangerous. He is afraid to lose someone and fall into despair like his mother or that his love for another would jeopardize his position or be used against him in the war.
