Delanie was there for Layla's birth. Layla was born late one summer night in a neighbor's farm. The neighbors promised Laylah she could have one of the kittens before she started her first year at Hogwarts that fall. Layla has been Delanie's faithful companion ever since that summer. Layla's nature could be described as more dog-like than cat-like. She is loyal and even leash-trained. Layla is friendly to other people, but has an uncanny ability to detect the character of a person. Layla warms right up to kind, warm-natured people, but is timid of people with darker personalities.

Personality »

Random. The most dominant trait of Delanie's is that sometimes she comes across as completely random. This is partially true, but there is more to it. Thoughts race through Delanie's head at lightning fast speeds. To others, it may seem like she has completely changed topic, but in her head, there is a logical explanation as to how she arrived to the new topic. Delanie will sometimes blurt out random things. Delanie usually does this because she is afraid if she waits for the proper time and place to say it, she will have already forgotten what she intended to say. Creative. Delanie is very creative. She loves to draw. Friends are constantly turning to her for "artsy-fartsy" related advice. Delanie doesn't usually mind, though. Animal lover. Delanie loves animals. She seems to understand animals quite well and gets along with most. Delanie has been an animal lover all her life. When she's older, she'll probably have several cats, dogs, and owls. Original. Delanie takes great pride in doing things a little differently. She often is ahead of the curve when it comes to fashion. She'll sport something that isn't quite the trend yet and is sometimes made fun of for it, but a few months later others will be wearing the same thing.

Appearance »

Hair » Long and dark brown. Delanie usually wears her hair straight, but occasionally curls or scrunches it. If it isn't just down, it's probably in a ponytail.
Eyes » Usually plain brown, but natural light brings out the gold in her eyes
Complexion » Her tan ranges depending on what season it is, but it is usually noticeable and has an olive tone to it
Height » 5'6 - She is just average height, not tall, yet not short, either.
Weight » 115 lbs - She is slender, especially her upper body. Her arms are thin and her collarbones are noticeable. Delanies lower body has a bit more meat on it, probably from being a dancer most her life and from being active. Her legs are thin, but strong.

History »

Delanie Kastner was born to Vivienne and Kyler Kastner in 2089 in the United States. Vivienne MacDougal was a witch born and raised in London, England. She grew up in a very wealthy, (mostly) pure-blood family. She was a Hufflepuff at Hogwarts when she attended. Vivienne had long, dark brown hair and bright green eyes. She had a healthy, curvy frame and dressed to show it off. She garnered lots of attention from males, wizards and muggles alike. She was fascinated by muggles and their ways, so at one point in her early 20's she visited the United States. There she met and eventually fell for Kyler Kastner. Kyler was tall and well-built. He had brown eyes and light brown hair. His nose was large, but still fit his face. He was what many people would consider very handsome. Kyler Kastner was a hardworking lawyer in the Midwest. Kyler was born into an average, typical American family. He decided early on in life that he wanted more for himself and his future family, so he worked hard and got good grades to make sure he could get into a good college. He was very successful and eventually launched his career as a lawyer.

Kyler and Vivienne met when they both went to a trendy restaurant one night. Kyler was by himself, because he had been working late and just wanted to unwind and Vivienne was by herself because she had not made any muggle or magical friends yet. Vivienne arrived after Kyler had already been told by the hostess that it might be a while for a table for a single person to open up. She told Vivienne the same thing. Kyler had noticed Vivienne as she walked in, because she was quite beautiful. Feeling particularly bold that night, he asked the hostess if they could get a table faster if they ate together. The hostess replied that it would in fact be faster. Vivienne was intrigued and flattered by this man's advances, so she accepted.

A romance ensued and eventually, Vivienne had to reveal her magical capabilities. Kyler was shocked at first, but then in awe. He fully embraced the magical world. Vivienne's family was not too excited that their daughter had gone and fallen in love with a muggle, but they loved their daughter and grew to love Kyler, too. A few years after Kyler and Vivienne married, they had a daughter that they named Delanie Olivia. Soon after the birth of their daughter, Vivienne persuaded Kyler to move back to her hometown of London.

The Kasnters moved into a large country side home. They had a couple horses and a handful of cats and dogs. This is definitely how Delanie's love of animals developed. Vivienne' parents were very present in Delanie's life and Kyler's parents made sure to visit a couple times a year. Delanie was an smart, adventurous child. She spent lots of time doing puzzles and playing games with her dad. Her mother made sure she was enrolled at a dance studio, which Delanie loved.

Delanie grew up in both the muggle and magical world. Vivienne noticed that her daughter was a witch early on. Vivienne exposed her daughter to the magical world and made it clear throughout her younger years that it must be kept secret. It was something that Delanie became quite accustomed to. Kyler taught her everything she needed to know in the muggle world. Kyler loved seeing his daughter have what he considered the best of both worlds. Delanie easily passed between both. She attended a muggle school up until she was 10 years old. Vivienne pulled her out of school at that age to start on her knowledge of the world of magic. Vivienne homeschooled Delanie till her letter to Hogwarts arrived.
