It was a Monday evening and Headmaster Hubbles had sat around all the way through the evening meal had been fidgeting. If he was not clicking his tongue on the roof of his mouth he had been tapping his fingers on the table or twilling his empty goblet around in his hands. Both Will and Dia had commented on it and he gave them a blank expression and a rather vague answer of ‘Really? Sorry’ It was not that he was nervous or worried about anything, he was anxious to get everybody out of the hall so he could have claim to it that evening, for tonight was his Extra Tuition lesson with Miss Sarie Thimble.
He had to take into account that she was only a third year and so dragging her onto the rooftops or into the Forbidden Forest would not be the most ideal situation, so instead he had something planned for the Great Hall and he was sure they would have just as much fun inside then they would out in the cold December night air!
Finally students left to their common rooms, teachers drifted off to their offices and the stacks of paper work and Dan…well he just jumped up onto the staff table. Hands on his hips and a wide grin on his face as he waited for the doors of the Great Hall to open and Sarie to enter!

Sarie looked down at the stacks of books. She had all the books she needed for first year to third and she wasn't sure if she was going to need books at all. She pulled her bag out of under the bed and started piling them all in.
Most people would have to pick books but not Sarie. Her bag was speaical Professor Potter had put a charm on it so it was a void. Sarie could put all of her belongings in it and still have room and it wouldn't weight any more the a book or so. The slug it on her back then grabbed her wand off the night stand then headed out for the great hall.
Hopping down the stairs looking more like a first year then normal. She almost lost her balance when the stair moved just as she went to hop. She saw the door to the Great Hall where open so she knew that was where she was to go.
She saw the great hall. It hadn't changed since dinner expect for there where no plates or people. That when she saw her Headmaster standing on the Staff table with a grin on his face. She had always liked Hubbles. She wondered if he knew how much trouble she could get into when a teacher's back was turned? Not likely.

“Miss Thimble!” Dan shouted joyfully as he watched the little Gryffindor push open the door and enter the room. She had her bag over her shoulder and he would be willing to put his Grandfathers estate on it that it was containing a fair few books. With a small wave as to show that he was greeting her Dan took a few steps forward and jumped off the Staff table and onto the flagstone flooring of the Great Hall, his normal cheeky grin still stuck on his face. “Thank you for turning up.”
Reaching inside his jacket of his suit Dan pulled out his wand from the specially designed pocket in the inner lining. The polished wood of the wand gleamed in the candle light and absentmindedly he twilled it around in his fingers as he looked at Sarie trying to work out where they were going to start.
“Righty o Miss Thimble if you would like to put your bag down er…wherever actually, you have the whole hall to pick from!” He gave a small laugh. “Get out your wand and we can make a start.”
Not even waiting to see where she had placed her bag Dan jumped up onto the closed bench and used that as a step up onto the long house table which was normally occupied by Ravenclaw’s. Spinning around in a small circle he imagined himself doing a small dance with his beautiful bubble queen simply dancing the night away, it took him almost falling off the opposite side of the table to snap back to reality and focus on the lesson at hand.
“Come on Miss Thimble. Join me up here and tell me where you would like to start. Name any spell!”

Sarie dropped her bag where she stood then stepped on to the bench to reach the table. Her headmaster had just opened a can of worms he would be unable to close. She meant to say a stronger shield spell but that didn't come out of her mouth. "Expecto Patronum," She was trying to avoid a question and answer talk with her headmaster.
He didn't know what she got into then agian maybe he did. She had been attack twice in the forest by dementors and wanted to avoid a thrid with out know away to protect herself. Also she was unsure if was ready to try this spell.

Dan was still swaying from side to side to the imaginary music in his head with the Gryffindor joined him up on the house table. It seemed that as soon as he had offered her the chance to give him any spell he had possibly given too many options, the look in her eyes said it all…this was an inquisitive and eager to learn student. Waiting penitently for Sarie to give him her answer it finally came in the form of Expecto Patronum.
With a weary smile Dan held out his wand in front of him, took a deep breath and with a small rotational movement of the wand he muttered the all important words. “Expecto Patronum!” A silver light started to shine out the tip of his wand and it slowly got brighter and brighter eventually forming the shape of a badger. With a playful grin Dan started to guide the silver silhouette of a badger around the Great Hall, watching it with joy and it scurried over the table and along the benches. After a few minutes of showing off Dan ended the cast and turned to Sarie with a small reassuring smile.
“Of course you will not be that good straight off but with practise I believe you have the skill for your Patronus to take an animal form.” Moving slowly towards Sarie Dan sat down, cross legged on the table. “You need to try and think of your happiest memory. The stronger the emotion the better the Patronus, I have found that ever since I changed my happy thought my Patronus has got stronger.”
The tiniest hint of a blush spread across the professors face, he has always claimed that his memory was of a particular night in France with a pair of twins, but now, now all he had to do was remember the moment that Dia walked through the doors, dressed in white, linked arm in arm with her father. All he had to do was remember the utopia he felt at that very moment, the mixture of love, pride and pure happiness.
Snapping out of his little dream world Dan gave a small cough and grinned over at Sarie. “Do you have your memory?”

Now it was Sarie's turn to blush. Her happiest memeroy was with Ian Gary out by the lake. He gave her a talking to about her being on the house team. He WANTED her to talk his place, Ian was her first crush and she never got over him. "Yeah I do..." She tailed off. Hopefully he wouldn't want her to tell him it. Not that any really happened but she would rather keep that to herself.

Dan watched Sarie as a faint blush passed over her features, it was always strange how a persons own emotions could easily betrayed them by such a simple action and as they sat on the tables of the Great Hall Dan knew it was not his place to dive into another persons happy memories. He would hate it if someone tried to get him to admit to his deepest emotions and so Dan would respect Sarie and not ask her about it. So instead Dan offered her a simple, soft smile before continuing on with their extra tuition.
“Right I want you to think of this memory, let it fill you up inside. Let the sights and sounds and smell of the memory take over.” He paused for a moment letting Sarie reach this stage, there was no point rushing on with something. “Okay now hold your wand out, and slowly rotate it in the anti-clockwise direction and speak the magic words.” (Oh how corny)
Dan shuffled back along the table a bit giving Sarie more room to cast the spell. He did not expect her to be able to cast a Patronus that took the shape of an anima just yet, he would be impressed if she managed to get a cloud of silver from the tip of her wand…and so with baited breath he waited.

“Right I want you to think of this memory, let it fill you up inside. Let the sights and sounds and smell of the memory take over." Sarie let the scene take over her mind. She could almost smell the lake. She raised her wand. “Expecto Patronum!” Nothing but a small whisps left the wand.
She sighed but that did she expect it was the first lesson. "How was that?" She had a little smile but she was unsure if that was good or not.

Dan studied the Gryffindor as she readied herself the cast the spell, he listened carefully to the pronunciation of the words and finally the small puff of silver that came from the tip of her wand. Sarie’s body language said it all and the Headmaster knew she would need a bit of encouragement.
“Sarie that was good.” He smiled encouragingly as he pushed himself up off the table to stand up once more. “But I know you can do better.” He grinned, almost teasing the small Gryffindor. Reaching out Dan took hold of the girls hand and gently pulled her up to her feet. Dan had faith in Sarie and he was willing to work hard and let his own energy and excitement to be teaching again pass over towards her.
“I want you to try it again.” Dan stated and as he did he raised his own wand ready to go through each step with Sarie. “Right lets get the stance right. Feet slightly apart, back straight and wand held steady in our hands.” He glanced sideways to wait for the Gryffindor to keep up with him. “Now I want you to breath in, nice and deeply then focus on your memory again and particularly the strongest emotion in that memory.”
Once more his eyes glazed over slightly as Dan thought about his memory, the happiest moment in his life and the overpowering feeling of love for Dia he felt on that day. That was his emotion and as it filled his mind and brought a lopsided smile to his face Dan spoke the words.
“Expecto Patronum!”
Yet again the silver badger appeared and bounded around the Great Hall, although it did not last for long as Dan broke his concentration to look over at Sarie to watch her progress.

She took a deep breath. Picturing Ian's smile in her mind. How it felt just to sit and talk about every thing and nothing at the same time. Her heart felt light as air. “Expecto Patronum!” She saw a shield appeared not taking full form but it was still there. She felt rather dizzy and she went down on to her knees. She watched the sliver vapor vanish but know she had at least made a shield on her first night was some thing.
