The Character
Name:
Adrian Malvalian
Nicknames:
None to speak of now.
Age:
Fifteen.
Year:
Fifth.
Blood:
Halfblood.
Preferred House:
Hufflepuff
Wand:
Blackthorn, with a core of dragon heartstring, and a length of ten and a half inches. It was skilfully crafted by Gregorovitch before his murder and has been passed down through the Malvalian line for generations. The wand is basically unadorned, except for a remarkably carved miniature Hungarian Horntail that curls about the handle and sets its deadly gaze directly toward whoever the wand is pointed at.
Pets:
Adrian is the owner of an extremely old runt of a cat. Her name is Ginger, and her tiny, pudgy body is covered in a matted and torn tortoiseshell coat. Ginger is distrustful and unfriendly to anyone but Adrian, and can usually only be found at the foot of his bed in the Hufflepuff dorms.
Patronus:
Adrian’s patronus is a black jaguar (commonly known as a panther).
Boggart:
A common fear among human’s, Adrian suffers from a terrible fear of death. As a Boggart, this fear represents itself as the common mental image a person gets when thinking of death, The Grim Reaper.
Personality:
On the surface, Adrian comes across as your average cocky jock. He’s close to obsessed with his own appearance, always wearing designer label and spending hours on his hair and in the gym. To someone who doesn’t know him well, he could come across as brainless. But, through friendship and even through classroom conversations, his true colours shine through. Fiercely loyal, Adrian is a protector to all of those around him. This probably is rooted in the loss of his mother, when he took over as the parent of the home when his father was too grieved to do so.
Adrian is also shockingly smart. While he’s not a genius, he is definitely more intelligent than his appearance and lifestyle suggest. He has especially excelled in potions and transfiguration, even reading past where they are in their text books in his spare time.
Being an athlete at heart, Adrian follows Quidditch as closely as his studies allow. He also has a soft spot for comic books, a childhood favourite. There isn’t really a part of life he particularly dislikes, and he is very open to trying new things as they are presented to him.
Appearance:
While not trying to toot Adrian’s horn, he is very close to the perfect teenage dream. He is tanned, muscular and equipped with a charming smile. He is Native American by heritage, and his black hair is almost always styled up into a loose faux hawk, unless he’s too lazy to spend the time on it and he will allow it to swoop down over one eye instead. He has a clear complexion and disarming brown eyes that are hooded in dark eyebrows.
History:
Adrian’s family has a good name for themselves in the wizarding world. His father has worked reliably in the ministry since his twenties, and is now in his early fifties. Unlike many well-off families involved in magic, the Malvalian’s are not obsessed with being pure-blood. Many muggles have come and gone from the family, including Adrian’s mother, who passed away a year before he was accepted into Hogwarts. After her death, in his father’s grief, Adrian became the rock of the family, helping his father and younger sister (who is a squib) to move on. His only escape from the responsibilities of home has been Hogwarts, and it has become like a sanctuary to him.
RP Sample:
The sun hung low in the sky over the lake that served as a back yard to the castle. The tips of the hills seemed deathly black in comparison to the burning orange of the setting sun, its rays doing little to illuminate the deserted common room. Everyone else was still at dinner, laughing heartily over bowls of hot spice soup and large chunks of buttered bread. Adrian, however, had come only close enough to the Great Hall to smell dinner before bolting in the opposite direction, barely keeping himself from retching. Now, he was in a cosily upholstered armchair, stroking his hand absently over Ginger’s back, who was purring loudly and raggedly at his touch. The fire burned happily in the hearth, flickering as it danced against the ancient stone. It was coming to the time of day where conversations of Quidditch and the sound of quills scratching on parchment couldn’t drive away his thoughts. Instead, the sun watched him through the glass windows of the Hufflepuff common room, searing into his soul as though it could see his every thought. A heaviness weighed down on the normally happy young man, as thoughts and memories of a family not yet broken passed his mind. The fourth year of school was drawing to a close, and soon he would have to face the horrors of his real home all over again...
