Ash smiled as he pushed open the door to Club Motion, the club had just barely opened for the day, so it was still relatively empty. Which suited Ash just fine, he was looking forward to some alone time with Nick anway. He hadn't set foot in Club Motion for the longest time, and was eager to see what it looked like now that it had been remodeled.
Guitar strapped onto his back, Ash entered the club. He looked around in pleasant surprise. It looked good. Really good. Ash saw that Nick wasn't at the bar, and figured he must be in the back, or downstairs. Shrugging Ash sat down at the bar, figuring he would wait for Nick.
As he waited, Ash pulled his guitar around to the front and tuning the strings, started to play an old Muggle song that he'd learned when he was little. He couldn't remember who had sung it, but it was a good song
"I can almost see it That dream I'm dreamin' But, there's a voice inside my head Sayin, You'll never reach it.."

Nick found it was a lot easier to get things done when the club was empty, which had been most of the past week. It almost seemed like there was some kind of bug going around infecting the young students of Hogwarts. He hadn't even seen Carolanne lately and she usually made an effort to stop in and say hey once a day, sometimes twice. Wiping off the last of the bar, he decided to go down to the basement and grab the new glasses his sister had ordered the other month.
The basement was a bit unorganized and Nick was really starting to wish Laney would stop by sometime soon. Not only did he miss the girl, but she helped him clean. It seemed to be her favorite thing to do, not that he would complain. As Laney crossed his mind, Ash seemed to sneak his way into Nick's thoughts as well. He hadn't seen the raven-haired boy in days, perhaps over a week even and now Nick was curious as to what the ravenclaw graduate was up to.
Nick had heard rumors that Ashton had opened his own store but he had been to busy with paperwork to prove them right or wrong. Maybe they were right. Nick had just grabbed the box containing the new glasses when he heard a tune playing from the bar. It startled him at first but when he listened a little longer, he realized someone was singing as well and that voice was recognizable and brought a smile to the boys face.
He ran up the steps, two at a time with the box still in his grasps and came into the bar area with a smile on his face. The grinned only widened when his suspicions were confirmed. There sitting by the bar with a guitar in hand was Ashton Laurent. "Hey there, Stranger. Can I get you anything?" He greeted him as he placed the box on the bar.

Ash looked up, all smiles as Nick came up. "Hey yourself." he said as he placed his guitar to the side. "Nah, I'm good. Just stopped by for a chat, and was playing some songs." he replied, gesturing to the aforementioned instrument when Nick asked if he could get him anything.
"So, what have you been up to?" he asked. He'd heard that Club Motion had been relatively empty lately. "Have you heard from Laney at all? Cause Merlin knows I haven't!" the raven haired young man laughed.
He looked around the club again. "It looks really good in here. You guys did a nice job with it."

Nick nodded in understanding when Ashton told him he was good. "well I must say you're pretty amazing with that," he complimented, motioning to the guitar with a nod. Nick would have to make a mental note to have a talent night at the club sometime so Ashton and a few others could show off. He was sure it would bring in some more customers and a chance for the Hogwarts students to have some fun.
"Haven't been up to much actually. Working mostly and getting the club put together. By the way, thanks for introducing me to Blayre, she's been a real help around here lately." The topic of Laney had come up and Nick wasn't exactly sure what to say, "No I haven't seen her lately. Heard a few good stories but the last I knew, she was traveling around with a few old friends or something." That was honestly the last thing he had heard. Laney had come in a few weeks back saying something about traveling and Nick wished her luck on her journey and he hadn't heard from her since.
Nick laughed, "Thanks. Like I said, that girl is a big help. A little flamboyant at times but helpful." Nick eyed the boy sitting in front of him with a questioning look. He had been thinking of ways to do this for weeks now and had never gotten the time. Truthfully, he had made himself so busy to avoid this moment at all costs or at least to prolong it but he was running out of things to do and he knew working with Blayre would be hell if he didn't get it over with soon. Nick cleared his throat nervously. "Ashton, there's been something I've been meaning to ask you. I was hoping you'd go out with me sometime. It doesn't have to mean anything if you don't want it to. I mean, it could just be as friends if that's what you want," he was babbling now out of fear of rejection.

Ash blushed slightly at Nick's compliment. "I'm not that good." he muttered. Ash wasn't one who enjoyed being the center of attention. Not anymore anyway. A far cry from the old Ashton Laurent. Looked like he had changed more than he thought he had. Ash nodded when Nick mentioned something about Laney travelling. Ash had heard that too. Then, Ash heard words he thought he never would , but secretly wanted to hear from Nick. Ash paused to make sure he had heard correctly before smiling brightly, and answering; "I'd love to." unbeknownst to Nick, Ash had actually harbored a crush on the older man for quite sometime now.

Nick chuckled and shook his head. Of course Ashton would say that, he wasn't much for attention anymore. "Don't be silly, you're amazing. Maybe you could play here sometime. I'll book some other locals too so the spotlight isn't just on you. How does that sound?" He didn't want Ash to think he was pushing him into doing this but Ash was very talented and Nick just wanted Ashton to see that for himself. Besides, Blayre had told Nick all about Ash's love for music.
"Yeah, Laney promised to write sometime this week so I should be expecting post from her within a few days. I'm not worried though, she usually keeps her word," he said with a shrug. He wasn't going to dwell on that because he didn't know how Ashton would take the fact that Laney just randomly decided to leave. Apparently it was to clear her head after the break up with Max but there were rumors that specified other wise.
Ash's answering smile brought a similar one to Nick's features. So Ash had accepted which gave Nick's ego a big boost. "Erm, that's- that's um, great!" He was at a loss for words after expecting a rejection. Apparently Blayre hadn't lied to him and he made a mental note to give her raise. "So does this weekend sound good or should we plan it for another time?" he asked.

Ash laughed and shook his head as well. "No thanks. I think I'd rather stay out of the spotlight for the time being." It was nice of Nick to offer, but honestly Ash was trying to keep a low profile these days.
Ash too shrugged off the topic of Laney. He supposed it should've bothered him that she just up and left. But hey, the girl was more than capable of taking care of herself. Besides, truth be told, the two were no longer as close as they'd once been. Not that they'd had a tiff, they had just grown apart. Not seeing eachother for weeks on end could do that to people.
Ash smiled teasingly. "Well, I'll have to check my schedule. Really busy you know... I'll see if I can fit you in." Then he laughed, "Just kidding. This weekend is perfect. Merlin knows I have nothing to do!"
