Personality:
Due to her strict, but fair upbringing Ingrid is your normal girl. She had no rebellious stage (and despite being only 14 and plenty of teenage years ahead that rebellious streak does not seem to be happening) but she is neither a quiet retiring person who prefers solitary confinement then social interaction. She is just normal. Ingrid can become very passionate over something, normally to do with her learning then anything else. If she finds a topic fascinating she will focus on that spending her free time reading up on it in the library. This goes hand in hand with her intellect, through out her previous years at Primary school and lower years at Hogwarts she has always come out with top grades. Although she puts in the hard work she does have a natural talent and unlike some she is not one to go and squander it easily.
Ingrid is a happy person, she looks at the positives of life rather then looking on the down’s and enjoys every moment of it. As a result when it comes to social situations Ingrid is more then willing to take part and try and make friends. She has a quick wit, and enjoys a good laugh however unlike many teenagers her humour is a little more refined. Although she will chuckle if someone falls over she prefers jokes and tales to have a punch line and thought put into it, laughing at childish words and bodily functions is not her thing. Because of this some people can see Ingrid as a proud and even self absorbed but this is most defiantly not the case…she just does not find it funny.
Calling Ingrid a dork or nerd would be a little harsh as she personally does not see herself that way (for one she does not wear glasses…or is that stereotyping?) however she is not the sportiest person in the world. Although she is a tom-boy and would rather being wearing trousers then a prom dress but put her on a broom and make her play Quidditch and she is not the best. She tried out for the house team in her second year and failed terribly. Ingrid puts the phrase ‘brains over brawn’ to perspective so if you are in a tight situation don’t relay on Ingrid to run in and save the day…although she might be the one to come up with the plan for some Gryffindor to do.
Appearance:
Ingrid, just like her personality is your average looking girl. She is not pig ugly but she is neither a super model look a like. She has long blond hair (which she takes after her mother) and cool blue eyes that she got off her father. Ingrid is one of those lucky people whose hair is naturally straight but as is always the way when it is straight you want it to curl and when it curls you want it straight…girls are never happy. However due to her tom-boy nature Ingrid does not care much for how straight or curly her hair is, in fact as long as it is not greasy and is combed then she is a happy bunny.
Ingrid is a fair skinned girl, another trait she takes from her mother. If either of them are out in the sunshine for longer then 20 minutes with no sun cream they will turn lobster red. It is lucky then for both of them that they enjoy staying indoors with a good book, so as a result Ingrid’s tan is almost non existent. She has a wiry build, with little muscle and fat on her. Ingrid is not an exercise freak but neither is she someone to be in love with food. She will eat when she is hungry and occasionally have the odd snack or nibble (mainly on special occasions when chocolate is freely available) but other then that nothing really takes her fancy.
As mentioned before, due to her tom-boy nature Ingrid is not one to go running around Hogwarts castle in high heels and mini skirts, in fact she is more then happy in her school uniform the majority of the time finding it comfortable and reassuring rather then restricting. School uniform reduces the inequality and class divides within a school. In a uniform everyone is the same, no one can wear designer clothing and point out they are obviously rich when another person might be wearing some cheap clothing from a market stand.
However when school uniform is no longer appropriate Ingrid will wear typical unisex clothing; shorts or jeans (depending on the weather) and a t-shirt with a hoodie. Simple but character defining, that is how Ingrid likes to look at it and it is what her mother always says suits her best.
History:
Ingrid Jane was born on the 22nd March to Algernon and Mildred Humberding in Shrewsbury, Great Britain. Ingrid would be the only child in this family and it suited them all perfectly. Algernon worked for the Ministry of Magic in the Department of Magical Transportation in the Portkey office. It was not the most thrilling of jobs but Algernon enjoyed it and it gave him enough money to help provide a good living for his wife and child. Mildred took her love of learning and books into her career working as a shop assistant at ‘Flourish & Blotts’ once Ingird was old enough to go to Primary School.
Her time before Hogwarts was a very happy one; she would spend her summers either at her grandparents or in the bookshop with her mother learning all about the wizarding world and all its fascinating secrets. It was of course not a surprise when the letter arrived that day in June but it was still celebrated throughout the family and before Ingrid knew the summer had passed by and she was on the Hogwarts Expresses racing her way up to her new school.
Ingrid has enjoyed her previous four years at Hogwarts, the library is one of her favourite places but the greenhouses and lake follow close behind. The place fascinates her and along the way she has made some amazing friends. With the fourth year being the final year before the pressure of OWL’s start and she Ingrid promised her mother to try and have some fun and enjoy herself before the stress starts.
