Snape is NOT CLEARLY BAD.
Here´s my crackpot theory: firstly, Severus took the Unbreakable Vow. Dumbledore had to know that at some point, a situation would arise in which someone would directly or indirectly ask Severus to kill him. And therefore, he would have discussed it with him beforehand. So, he takes the vow. Dumbledore therefore knows he´s going to die (whether or not he was going to die anyway) and begins to pass on a lot more knowledge to Harry. In the scene where Snape actually kills him, Dumbledore reaches out his arms...for mercy? I don´t think so, especially since he reminded Snape of a mysterious promise! It seemed to me more like an entreaty for Severus to do what he knows he has to.
Dumbledore´s death accomplishes the following: 1. Voldemort trusts Snape 2. Probably will unite the Wizarding World (martyr effect)
We also know that Dumbledore considers death ¨the next great adventure¨. So I say it was a plot to winnow Severus further into the ranks of Death Eaters. Not sure Dumbledore is still alive, but he could be a ghost, who knows?

Nahh... when they were getting the horcruxe together the Dumbledore was acting exactly like himself.

Also, Slughorn be selfsacrificing? I dont THINK so. yeah... i agree with ya jordy... i mean that does not sound like something Slughorn would do. the real Dumbledore? yeah... probably. but Slughorn disguised as Dumbledore? no way.

wat is the martyr's effect?? no way slughorn.....a person who can be a little selfish...i don't think he can be sacrificing his life and do u think dumbledore.....the greatest sorcerer would allow anyone to die for him?

Martyr.. umm.. its like dying for your cause, er, suffering death rather than giving up your beliefs. Someone else could probably explain it better Meh, the suggestion is unlikely, but surprisingly possible, even if it isnt what I think happened. I think its a cool suggestion though because its so original.

martyr implies loss of life in order to save, protect or prevent something bad from happening...
I'm not sure if this is helpfull but christian martyrs only become martyrs if they are see to have died 'to protect the law of God and uphold his sacred mystery'
yeah, not useful. Sorry...
la la la...
anyhoo, i'm a strong believer in snape being good. I think that dumbledore wanted to die. I think its connected with sirius and possibly, don't kill me for saying this, i think that he might bring sirius back somehow...
