I still really can't make my mind up about this.
The first time I read HBP.. I thought *gasp* DIE SNAPE! But then I realised that maybe all was not what it seemed.
And now that I've read it a few more times.. I realise that all the Snape incidents in HBP can be looked at in two ways.. he could actually be good or bad.
Whatever he is. One thing for sure is he is a good liar and proves hes an expert at occlumens.. because hes deceiving one of the two greatest wizards: dumbledore or voldemort.
Still not forgiving him for killing dumbly though. Even if he is a cool character.

I'm an avid reader and writer of fanfiction, so I have an ulterior motive for wanting Snape to be a good guy: if he is, then that means there is still hope for Draco to go over to the good side too. But I don't know about Snape, I really don't... I guess deep down I think he's one of the good guys.

I love reading and writing fanfic too! - what site(s) do you use? I really hope Draco ends up a good guy in the end! He is such an awesome character.. HBP suggests his fear and regret quite strongly, hinting that maybe in the end he is good? I don't think Dumbledore could have been fooled so easily by Snape, which makes me lean closer to Snape being good. There are quite a few bits in HBP that support him being good i think - ill have to look up certain parts to see if I can find the bits I mean..

I'm so hooked on fanfic I now feel something close to contempt sometimes for some of the canon... partly because I'm into slash. I use fanfiction.net, by the way.
I really have to read HBP again; I think I've only read it once so far. And I call myself a fan! *laughs* But one of my favourite characters is dead (Sirius, R.I.P), and the other one is bound to (Remus), which dampens my enthusiasm... thank god for fanfic. I looked at your geocities site by the way, great graphics!

Ah i know what you mean! I read so much fanfic that it annoys me.. for example that certain coupling doesnt occur! And its partly fanfic that has made me like Draco so much! I read all sorts.. het and slash. The marauders of some of my favourite characters too.. so I totally know what you mean about that too! Sirius should make a return somehow....!! And if shes kills Remus off, I dont know what ill do! Oh, thanks! Only a few things on there.. mostly things people have requested from other sites..

Sorry, but I'm pretty certain she's going to kill off Remmie, or else why would Peter have a silver hand? It adds up, sadly. I never bother reading het, the only pairing I believe in is Lily/James... other than that I'm a Remus/Sirius and Harry/Draco shipper. Which site do you use? I'm always looking for good authors to read. And I'm so jealous that you got geocities to work; I've tried but it doesn't work properly, I think it might be due to my dialup connection. Grr. Lastly, I've just noticed how much we've digressed from the original topic

=( Atleast Remus will be with Sirius then... -sigh-
But if she kills -Draco-...
I'm certain Severus isn't really evil. I'm certain he and Dumbledore had everything that happened prearranged. And I'm certain Draco is with Severus, safe and sound.

I hope you're right about Snape and Draco.
I don't really understand yet what they could have achieved by what Snape did, if it was prearranged. Well.. actually.. now I think about it, Voldemort would be in no doubt that Snape is on his side, and he would become his most trusted follower - which means Snape would know about all of his plans and could pass them on.. or find his weakness maybe? or help find out about the horcruxes? Well I just answered my own wonderment so nevermind, lol.

Well, normally Dumbledore wouldn't have been worth sacrificing for that... but I think he was dying anyway. The black hand thing, and also how he was being -much- more open to Harry, actually teaching and -letting him come along- with him. He never did that before, and I think it was because he was preparing Harry for not having him around.

Ah that would make sense. Because Dumbledore had become a lot weaker in HBP or "losing the reflexes" as he said.. so maybe he was dying. Hmm, never considered that before. And he was telling Harry everything he knows to do with Voldemort, like he knew his death was inevitable. You've got me thinking now!

Ah, touché about Dumbledore weakening. I mean there's only so long even a wizard can live... And more Draco fans? Yay.

I have reread the book many times and have come to the conclusion that Snape is good. The subtle hints were in the book, but most people will believe he is bad.
That's my view.

Like I said in the 1st post, on my first read of HBP i thought he was evil, but that was because of the shock of dumbledore dying. But now that I've reread.. I can see the situation better and Snape could quite possibly be good!
