Well, I've been waiting for it since 1997 and now I have it, the end of Harry Potter.
I really don't know where to start with what I think, so..
How did you all find it?
[My immediate thoughts - Can not believe its all over!]

Rather liked it myself.
Snape has a ridiculously cute - although slightly poncey - Patronus, and I thought it was really sweet that he and Lily used to be best mates! I honestly thought Snape has double crossed both Dumbledore and Voldemort, so that ending was freshing! I thought his death was a bit of an anticlimax though... it's Snape. My one and only. Getting topped in the Shrieking Shack by Voldy doesn't cut it with me. No sir.
Who knew Dumbledore was such a prick in his youth, eh? Didn't think he'd make a reappearance either! Good job I didn't make a bet on that too... (as in, I made a £20 bet with my near friend Rudy that RAB wouldn't be Regulus... I'm now out of pocket, as you've probably guessed.)
Only time I actually cried was when Hedwig died. Devastated! What did the owl ever do to anyone?! Breaks my heart she and Harry weren't on speaking terms before her death!
"He can move faster than Severus Snape confronted with shampoo if he wants to!" - favourite line ever. SO FUNNY.
Epilogue sort of ruined it. Twasn't necessary in my eyes. It just seemed a little too fan-ficy.
Loved it nonetheless. Lots of people said it was 'predictable', but we have to bear in mind that JK plotted those revelations about 17 years ago. It's hardly her fault there were several million obsessive fans to work them out before she had a chance to surprise anyone... I think it was the best possible outcome anyway. I had plenty of wonderful moments where I simply stared into space, grinning!
I think it's interesting that both Harry and Voldemort are descended from the Peverells (Harry through the bloke burried in Godric's Hollow, Voldemort through the Gaunts), but as the Gaunts pointed out, the Gaunt family are decended from Slytherin... so thus the Peverells must be too... so thus Harry is veeeery distantly, and not necessarily by blood, related to Slytherin... kewl.

Well, I loved it! It was definitely my favorite book out of all of them, but that was to be expected! ;D I was AMAZED that she killed of Moody so early. I was an hour in it and already crying. Poor bloke. Ah, no I cried more for Hedwig. But I suppose carrying around a bird while your hiding isn't the brightest thing to do, but JK didn't have to kill her off! I thought Lupin and Tonks marriage was so cute, and the fact they had a little metamorphing boy named Teddy made my life. But then they both died and I kinda was really mad! I was like JK you bugger! oh well. Considering he was snogging in the epilogue I guess he wasn't screwed up like Harry. hah! I really liked the Snape/Lily back story. But like the epilogue it was kinda fan-fic-y. But JK did it in a not creepy way, and Snape has a heart. yay! love him! FRED DIED! WTF! Thats all I have to say on that subject. Still very mad. And what is his identical holey-eared brother supposed to do now. Weasleys Wizards Weezes are now Weasley Wizard Weeze. LAME.And poor Colin Creevy. He was destined to be a great photographer for the Daily prophet! Damn! The Harry dieing thing and then coming back to life thing really confounded me. But I figure, once I read it a second and third time it will make more sense. What was with all the Draco saving? I don't get it. Noble Harry? Pah! The epilogue made me smile only because it followed all the couples I was shipping. I really feel bad for Harry's kid, Albus Severus. The kid is going to be a bloody billboard saying "I HAVE A FUNNY NAME, MAKE FUN OF ME!" I had no idea whose kids were whose. It was just a big comjumble of small Potters and Weasleys, with the occasional Malfoy, carring one the next generation of silly names. and last but not least. Neville = best Herbology teacher ever! the end. ps. Last word of the book def. not scar. and it was CORNY! but loved it!

All the deaths were very sad. Some sadder than others. Harry surrounded by loved ones to walk to his death, really got me. Though Dobby.. Hedwig.. Fred... Arggh sadness! (With Lupin and Tonks, I didn't get the time to be all sad.. mainly I was just gaping at the page in a sort of Nooooo way.. and I just seemed to accept Moody going)
I love the twins so much. I suspected one would go but really didn't want it to happen. No more Marauders. It made sense though to leave behind a child for Harry to be godfather to, as Sirius was to him.
But onto happier talk...
How AWESOME was Molly?!
'NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!' - Pg 589
Ahahahaaa.. I loved that bit! You wouldn't think the only proper bit of swearing in the book would be from Molly Weasley! Her duel with Bella was fantastic! I liked Molly about x1000000000 more after that bit.
Hmmm.. Who else? Kreacher!! I really liked the whole turn around with him.. very sweet! It really was lovely.
I'm coming off the comp now.. I have lots of other things to say.. but I'll come back to it

All I can say is it only took me about 11 hours to read it, excluding eating, dinner, pooping and showering within a 12pm to 12am time period... Damn, I'm tired cause I didn't get enough sleep but it was so worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God, Kreacher was so cute, wasn't he!? All the crap he's caused, but look how adorable he is when shown a bit of kindness... beats Dopbby for sure (although Dobby's death was really upsetting. He didn't deserve that). I want Kreacher as a house elf now!
The way Neville stood up to Voldy like that made me really proud of him. I loved how his gran was up for some arse kicking, too! Molly was amazing, I was absolutely gobsmacked when she went for Bellatrix! "She's mine!" LOL Can't believe Fred, of all the Weasleys, had to die though. I don't think any of them should have died, it just shouldn't have happened...
You know when Harry and Dumbledore were in Harry Heaven, was that scroggy little kid under the chair the part of Voldy's soul that had been kept in Harry?

Hum…..I really enjoyed the book now that I have finished it however near the very end I just got sooooo annoyed. I was turning over every page thinking who was JK going to kill of next. It got to the point, that after Fred’s death I actually had to put the book down and leave the house. I could not will myself to read on anymore as I could not face reading that she was about to kill off someone else. My book actually went flying across the room when Lupin and Tonks died. I was really got me, I hated her for doing that for a brief moment. I agree with Gail, that line from Molly Weasley is a classic, it made me laugh so much! The ’19 years later section’ hum….I agree with Amy it was a tiny bit Fan-ficy…..but in a strange way ties up lose ends….sort of. I think maybe tiny paragraphs would have been better then making it into a strange story. Maybe that was just me. The thing with Malfoy made me laugh and the fact no one cared that there were 3 ex-death eaters sitting around in the great hall after the battle haha. The white Kings Cross thing…..Dumbledore? He was a tad of a rebel when young, interesting how JK seemed to want people to turn against him. But I do not think they will, he is too cool really. Good book can not believe it is all over! Oh side note...did Lavender Brown die? It had her 'feebly stirring body' but nothing else. Would you say that means she is another name on the dead list?

I want JK to just release a list of the dead, cause I need to know the fifty people that died, ( a number she gives in the book.) my life depends on it.

Ah yeah, she did say that. Who was in the fifty?? We only know a few.
Back to the "19 years later" bit. I liked it. Mainly because it properly confirmed Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione - those are the true ships.. so people can stop with ridiculous ones, haha!
Haha, yeah Liz, I see what you mean about the Malfoys just sitting there with them all in the Great Hall. Though I guess Narcissa had proved herself by saying Harry was dead even though he wasn't. And well in the end, Lucius only cared about Draco.
And I liked all the revelations of Dumbledore.. it didn't make me think any less of him.. he just seems far more human now =P
As for the "scroggy little kid" =P Amy, thats what I thought.. that it was the part of Volds soul.

The shrivelled little being had to be little Voldy, lol. Had to be, no questions asked ;D Plus Neville, it was only his destiny that he would to stand up to Voldy, he could have become the Harry Potter if Voldemort understood the thingy right.

I LOVE NEVILLE!!!!! He was fantastic! He totally showed his gran! *whoops for Nev*
And the Weasley line, "we're identical" cracked me up no end! haha! They truly had the best lines! AND THEN SHE WENT & KILLED FRED!!!!! There I cried! I actually had to stop reading for about five minutes to get over the shock!
Everything we heard about Dumbledore's and Snape's pasts I thought were really cool. Props for Rowling for having thought up such things. And the reason that Snape crossed Volde, the whole him going after Lily thing, very cute!! I awed for the longest time when my suspicions were confirmed about his patronus.
I would also have to say that the "scroggy little kid under the chair" was the part of Voldy's soul that had been kept in Harry. It would make sense but my next thought is wouldn’t it have been dead?
Love Molly!! Love her!!
And I liked the 'nineteen years later' thing. It was a nice way to close the story off so that other weirdoes didn't come along and trash what happened to them in later life. And I thought that the kids name being Albus Severus Potter was very cool. and then Harry says he was named after the two greatest Headmasters Hogwarts have ever seen, Severus being the bravest man he knew and he really was. Crossing Voldy like that without him ever suspecting it, got to give him props too.
On the whole, three cheers, a round of applause, and all that cheery things for Rowling on a very pleasing (although sometimes annoying with the people she killed off) end to the series. Ear! Ear!

I didn't really think it was predictable at all. I really wasn't expecting Bathilda Bagshot to turn into a snake personally. They were predictable aspects of it such as the final battle being at Hogwarts, Neville coming of age, Voldemort being defeated, Dumbledore helping out from the grave, Snape being with the order, Harry being a horcrux, and RAB being Regulus.
BUt I believe that the way that these things were brought about was certainly in a non-predictable way. I didn't think Regulus essentially turned against Voldemort because of his treatment of Kreacher was that predictable.
Speaking of Kreacher: I love him.
And the Deathly Hallows? If anyone actually predicted correctly what the Deathly Hallows were I would have to say that they were lying or that they were actually J.K. Rowling in disguise trying to be sneaky. Not going to lie when I pictured the Deathly Hallows I pictured a cave of some sort.
Ah vell...that was my(somewhat incomplete) spiel...maybe I just have no imagination.
I bought the book in China on the 21st...I was beyond excited. We were in an airport that day and runhing through because the choir organizer people were retarded. Anyways because we were late the people with last names at the end of alphabet(it's discrimination I tell you) didn't make the flight and had to catch another two hours later. So we got bored and we began meandering and we happened to meander into a bookstore and the first book I saw was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows...it was the most amazing day of my life.
Random thought...I enjoy the Canadian/British versions more then the American one I've officially decided...it seems more legitimate because the slang terms haven't been changed. I love the Britisisms.
I bauled my eyes out on the bus as well when Fred died...George lost his twin; it's so sad. I couldn't even continue reading and my friends were freaking out about who died.
It's my favorite...I read it over again so I could catch all the stuff I missed whilst I was power-reading till the ending. The Gringotts deal made a lot more sense to me after that...I realised that over a couple of pages(multiplying treasure bit) that I had only read a couple lines of each.
The dragon...that was awesome!
I also loved how many loose-ends she tied up...the ending was really fulfilling. The whole with the Bloody Baron and the Grey Lady was cool.
And the fact that Lucius and Narcissa would do almost anything for the son was amazing; it humanizes them in a way because it shows they aren't just plain old evil people who don't care at all for anyone but themselves.

I have to agree with something Dan said, there were so many deaths in that book it soon became like death for death's sake. I wanted to toss the book aside so many times, when I read who died next. After Fred I closed the book for a few moments trying to contemplate what she was thinking and why hadn't she taken Percy instead.
I also do love the way she made the Dumbledore we all know and love someone who became a stranger. The more his past came about the angrier I seemed to get right along with Harry, but that scene in Dumbldore heaven as it was so aptly put change that, JK used psychology to the best of her abilities. She allowed people (well at least me) to turn on Dumbledore just because of what other people were saying about him. It was so easy to do, but then when he finally had a chance to explain himself it was like 'oh OK I understand why you did what you did.'
I was also so thrilled that Harry did not die I think I spent most of my time bracing myself for the fact that he might die. When she spared him I was so ecstatic that I loved everything about the book after that.
Neville and his heroism was something I have been waiting to see for so long and when the moment finally came I was so very very proud of him. I always knew he had it in him to be just as brave as Harry, Ron, or Hermione.
The epilogue well, that didn't answer all my question lol. I still want more more more. I was actually really curious to find out what happened to the Dursely's because Dudley's behavior in the beginning was such a shock to me that I was wondering if somehow as Harry got older the family managed to end up on speaking terms(I'm silly I know lol).

1. KREACHER IS MY HERO!!! Aww, now I want to make a house elf charrie... I was sad when Dobby died; you know he had to have been scared to death having Albus' creepy brother sending him to the Malfoy Manor to save Harry and then -draws line across throat- I personally thoguht that was a cruel way for her to make him die. But I still love Kreacher.
2. The Weasley's. Fred died -sobs- George lost an ear -sobs- Ginny married Harry -sobs- Ron married Hermoine -sobs- Percy returned to his family which was sweet, but the fact that his moment distracting Fred is the reason Fred died made me sad -sobs- Molly was AWESOME though! "SHE'S MINE!!" Can you imagine what that fight scene is going to look like when they spec-eff it for the movie?! I'm exciiited!!! and I totally dug that Teddy Tonks was snogging Bill and Fleur's kid [Victoire, who's else could it be?]
3. THE WANDS!!! OMG! Being that my character is an Ollivander, I found the wand theme frikkin AWESOME!!! Now I need to make wands a WAY bigger part of the site somehow... somehow... Don't know how yet, BUT IT WILL BE DONE! MARK MY WORDS!!!
Anywho, that's my rant for the moment. I'll probably add on later, but yeah. GO OLLIVANDER!!!
