So the summer had ended with a bang. Along with getting her new job, Izzy also got an opportunity to travel to Ethiopia, where she picked up a rather shriveled batch of Abyssinian Shrivelfigs. She had gotten them cheep in their land of origin and avoided shipping fees, though Izzy couldn't imagine how expensive it was to apparate holding a box of the small plants.
Izzy had put them in greenhouse 2, and was now trying to prune the plants as best as she could. She had expected the plants to buck up once they were in her care, but they weren't doing so well. Therefore, the idea that she would have a harvestable crop of shrivelfigs for her students to handle. That idea had died as the morning grew later.
Just a half hour before her lesson would begin, Izabel sighed and put down her pruning shears. THe plants weren't looking any better. She got out her old star chart, used for cetain Herebology like things and checked it. She smiled and sighed. She would be getting these plnts healthy in no time.
Running up to the owlery she sent out owls to all her students, while added the same note on the greenhouse door for those early students. The note read:
Afternoon class,
Hope you had an enjoyable morning. Take the afternoon off, but I suggest you get some sleep. Today's class has been changed to meet in front of the quidditch pitch gates at 4 AM!! No excuses to be late or absent. So take the afternoon off for a nap to catch up on the sleep you will miss.
Thanks!
- Professor Barrows.
Hours later, after a quick discussion with Professor Luke Hubbles to clarify a few things, and a nap and a short sleep later, Izzy dressed herself for the lesson and walked out of the castle and down to the quidditch pitch. She was early, as a Professor should be. The high full moon was still shining over the earth, though its fight with the sun was just beginning. The time was perfect. She had with her a few pairs of gloves, small shovels, and a few buckets. With these tools, she would teach her students how to save a dying plant. Now she just waited to see if her students would actually get to her class at 4 AM.
