It was an over cast day, drizzles scattered between long periods of bleak sky and dull light. On a day like this, Professor Dia Own was more likely to be found curled up in her bed, seeing that it was a Saturday, with a good book and a constant supply of tea. This was usual practice for the shy Astronomy teacher but today was a day for surprises. She abandoned her book, bed and tea and left the castle in a dark purple coat.
She hugged to around her body tightly, raising the collar to protect her neck, and ambled towards Hogsmeade and her final destination: The Three Broomsticks. It was not her usual haunt but, as previously mentioned, today was a day for surprises and new experiences. She made her way slowly, in no hurry, and eventually, after having window shopped for a good forty five minutes, she put a pale hand to the door of the pub and pushed it open.
She took a step in and was instantly greeted with the smell of smoke, alcohol and something stail. Dia grimaced, at first, but when many enquiring faces look to her, she smiled and forgot all about the uncomfortableness of it all. She took a seat at the bar.
A squat man with a large girt, wiping a glass, walked over to her. "Can I help ya, me dear?" he asked, clearly being the barman.
Dia smiled and nodded. "I'll have a ..." she said this slowly, looking around at what other people where having around her. "Whatever that witch is having." Dia pointed to a tall, blond witch sitting at the end of the bar, a long glass with flame red liquid inside. The barman smiled at her, as though he knew something she didn't, and scampered off. Dia began to look around the busy pub but was called back by the re-emergence of the barman. He set a tall glass with fire red liquid in front of her. "Enjoy!" he said.
Smiling, Dia looked the content of her tall, elegant glass over. It looks fine, she thought to herself. She took a sip and her throat was set on fire as the drink ran down her throat. With a light cough, eyes beginning to water, Dia set the glass back on the table. The barman gave her a smaller glass of clear liquid which she assumed was water. She took a sip of it to find it wasn't water, but rather a distinct type of vodka. It helped for she wasn't coughing any more and she grinned at the barman. "Lovely, thank you." She lifted the long glass to her lips again and sipped with no coughing to follow.

Ariane scampered along the road and into Hogsmeade. WHen it was raining it always put her in a good mood. There was no better weather that she could think of. She decided to grab a Butter Beer in the THree Broomsticks so she stepped in.
She recognized several of the people, seeing as she was here every moment that the school allowed her to be. The bar man waved to her discreetly and she smiled back. A few of the costomers gave her a nod and she continued smiling. Ariane shook her head slightly to get the rain out of it, then pulled out her wand and syphoned off the rest of the rain from her clothes. She was wearing Muggle clothing- a v-neck black t-shirt and a pair of dark wash jeans.
Ariane walked up to the bar and ordered a Butter Beer and a sandwich. Once she had received her order, she was going to take her usual seat at the window but she saw Professer Owen.
"Professer?" she asked, slightly surprised to see her there.

The fiery red-coloured drink Dia was drinking kept her throat on fire for long moments after it had already moved on. It was a pleasant sensation, memorable and different and it reminded her of someone but who she could not say. The taste lingered on her lips, the strawberry being a very prominent taste, so she licked her lips and smiled at the blond witch at the other end of the bar. It was by far the best drink that she had had in a long time.
While she had locked eyes with the blond witch, Dia heard her name. Looking around, she saw Ariane with a look of surprise on Dia's face. "Miss Winchester?" she said, then her features softened and she smiled. "What a pleasant surprise. I was just taking a break. What are you doing here? Have you finished that essay I set on the differences between super novas and normal novas?" Dia frowned at the last question.

Ariane smiled, she should have expected a round of questions. "UH... well, this is just where I come to relax a bit" she grinned slightly "Don't worry, I dont drink. And I most definatly won't be leaving that essay till the last minute" she said without conviction, knowing full well that she would.
Ariane gave the Professer a sweet smile "Firewhiskey huh?" she commented, setting her plate and glass down.

Dia eyed the Hufflepuff to her side suspiciously, an eye brow raised. She didn't for a moment believe that she wouldn't leave her essay till the last moment or, more shocking, that she didn't drink. At her age, Dia and her friends would sneak out and do all sorts of naughty things to get some alcohol. But that was because her friends were rebellious, she guessed, as she sipped her fire red drink.
She shook her head. "It isn't," she said slowly, looking at the glass and it's content. "I can't stand Firewhiskey. No, it's a ..." she trailed off and frowned towards the bartender. "What is this drink?" she asked him. She had liked the look of it and ordered it without any thought about what it was called.
"Flame thrower Deluxe," said the barman.
"There you are, Flame-thrower Deluxe." She smiled at Ariane and thought about offering the girl a sip of the marvellous drink. She remembered herself and did nothing of the sort. She sipped her drink herself and set it down again. "So do you often come here?" Dia asked. She was astounded that such a busy place would be someone's peaceful spot.

Ariane grinned, about to say Ah, the Flamethrower, excellant choice, but then she remembered that she "didn't drink". "Oh, sounds interesting." she said absently.
"I basically live here" she said, looking around at the familiar people "Everyone's so nice and even though they may look a little strange, they all have good stories to tell and love company"
Ariane's smile grew as she counted off the people who gave ehr a quick grin back. One man got up from the back of the store and on his way by patted her on the back. "Hey" she smiled as he walked back to his seat from the bar with a large cup of a murky green liquid that was topped off with a strange black semi-solid....cream?

Dia smiled knowingly at Ariane. The Hufflepuff didn't need to say anything and Dia knew. "I used to come her often too," Dia said, "when I was at Hogwarts. A group of friends and I would come here as often as we were allowed, and sometimes when we weren't as well. We'd come here, act all older and everything just to get drinks. One of my better friends in that group would actually convince lonely men in here to buy us all something to drink."
Dia smiled at the girl and turned to her drink, still smiling. She sipped her Flame-thrower and as she lowered the glass a man patted Ariane on the back. Dia watched him return to his table, swaying ever so slightly. It seemed a pleasant enough existence and Dia smiled at Ariane. "I can see that," Dia said, looking over her shoulder at all the smiling faces smiling at Ariane.

Ariane took a small bite of her sandwich, with a short laugh she looked up "Oh, really Proffesser? Is this a new Proffesser Owen that we've never seen coming out?" she raised one of her eyebrows teasingly. She smiled at another person who stepped in the door who gave a short wave and walked over to a group of rowdy drunkards, most likely to continue from where he had been kicked out.
Ariane tilted her head thoughtfully "It's such a nice place, comfy, homey and clean too. Not at all like the Hogs Head, althought it's not a bad place to get a free drink or two when the bar-man isn't watching." Ariane smiled ruefully.
Ariane watched a witch conjure up a napkin and dab at her face, cackling with one of her friends, Ariane paused for a second, wishing that she could have friends like that but shook it off. No one really wanted to be friends with a messed up fourth year.

Dia laughed softly, replacing her drink on the bar. "Never like the Hogshead myself, always felt too dirty for me. I'm a neat freak and it really bugs me." She smiled at the Hufflepuff and added, "you're right though, this place is clean. Guess that's why I enjoy coming here." Her drink was half done by now and she realised she was going too fast though she didn't mind, she had time to kill.
"But I've always been like this," Dia said sitting a little taller in her seat, "I just don't find it appropriate to show such a side in my class, is all. I'm not one of those teachers who reminisce in their classes, it wastes time and my schedules are already so full. Tight ship in the class, and that means I can relax afterwards." Dia took another sip of her drink, it's red liquid like fire in her throat. "This is me relaxing, can you tell?" she chuckled.
