PERSONALITY
Effie gives off the impression of someone who never takes anything seriously, though close friends know she can be serious when she wants to be and needs must. She loves to tease people with her quick tongue and though all in jest of course, her remarks can sometimes get her into trouble. This said, she isn't what you would call an extrovert. She hates being in the spotlight, and avoids drawing attention to herself. This often gives people the impression she is shy or not particularly social, but if you initiate conversation with her, she will chat with ease and most likely with humour.

Effie is extremely laid back, not letting worries get the better of her. This can sometimes work against her though, as she tends to ignore problems, only making them worse. Shes also someone who won't agree or go along with things just to fit in, she has her own opinions and will stick to these (though that doesn't mean they can't be changed). She has a small close-knit groups of friends, these two or three friends being the only ones that know her properly.

As for school work, she always does pretty well in her studies, even if she does have a habit of pushing work to the bottom of her list of priorities. She tends to remain quiet in lessons, even when she knows answers, again chosing not to draw any attention to herself. This quietness means Effie is a great observer, very shrewd with people and situations, so don't be surprised if she works out something about you that you hadn't even realised yourself yet.

Like everyone she has her flaws, as perviously said her teasing can be taken to heart sometimes, she is pretty impatient though usually manages to hide it if its with people, and shes as stubborn as anything. Flaws aside, Effie is generally acknowledged as a good person and friend.

HISTORY
Effie has never quite forgiven her mother and her ridiculous idea of keeping the name "Euphemia" in the family. She refuses to answer to name, and always introduces herself as Effie. She was brought up in a wizarding household with two elder brothers, both now graduated from Hogwarts. Her father is a bit of an eccentric and works in the Committee of Experimental Charms in the ministry, where he met Effie's mother who is a lawyer (are they called that in HP? they are now!) in the wizard court of law.

RELATIONSHIP
The Better Half -- Boyfriend: One thing Effie is shy about is relationships. The guy needs to be the confident one, as she would never make the first move.

Put Your Heart into it -- Crush: Effie likes people a bit more than a friend as much as the next person, though tends to be very relunctant to admit it. This is for the people who like Effie, from wanting to go out with her, to just thinking shes good looking. Or for who she likes, whether mutual or not.

Joined at the Hip -- Best Friend: Effie is the sort of person to have just one or two best friends. They're the people that she's really close to and fully trust, shares countless in-jokes with and is hardly seen a day without.

Close, but No Cigar -- Close friend: Not as close to Effie as her best friends, but still get along really well and know most things about each other.

Back to Square One -- Acquitance: These are people that Effie aren't really that close to, but get on well enough to smile when passing in the corridor, and have odd chats with by chance. No more, no less.

Chip on the Shoulder -- Grudge/Dislike: Effie doesn't really fall out with too many people, and though she knows she'll never be good friends with them, she will still try to be civil. There will always be this grudge however which could turn into hostility if circumstances take a turn for the worse.

Grasping at Straws --Hate: Effie doesn't even try getting along with these people. Her usual tactic is just to ignore them as any conversation is sure to end in hexes. It will take something significant to become part of this category, and it'll take something equally significant to get out of it!

Relationship:
Close, but no cigar

Details: Effie and Shabnam are capable of having a great time together and get along swimmingly, usually seen sitting together in lessons and hanging around the grounds in one another's company. Shabnam likes Effie for the up-beat attitude she manages to maintain day in day out, and how she rarely gloats or takes things seriously - which is good when half the things Shabnam says can lead to a lot of confusion! Shabnam appreciates that Effie 'gets' her enough not to question the strange things she does and greatly appreciates the silent understanding that rests between them.

As with most people Shabnam is drawn to she can become a little overbearing and clingy sometimes, often smothering Effie with an onslaught on fast jabbering and energetic descriptions of what she likes about the Ravenclaw, but Effie is good enough to show patience when she gets like this.

Back to Square One

Details: ‘Back to square one’ is the best way of describing Harrison’s and Effie’s relationship. They once worked together in a potions lesson in their second year and managed to create a fowl smelling purple smoke that filled the class room, thus meaning the lesson had to be abandoned and they have never really talked since. They have their own group of friends. Harrison has his gang on boyish Gryffindors while Effie has her witty bunch of Ravenclaws and these two social circles never mix.
That was until one fateful night when Effie got lost and Harrison left the common room to escape some very bad serenading by a group of 5th years. And from there their mini adventure began literally throwing them together and even on top of each other at one point!
