Year: 7th
House:
Blood: Half-blood
Wand: 9 1/2, Phoenix Feather, Hornbeam
Pets: Tabby cat named Lynn

Personality: Raelin is a pretty likable young woman. Never mean to someone without cause, she generally goes out of her way to help others. However, once you get on her bad side, there is no telling how she will act towards you. At first, she is quiet and timid, but once you get to know her, she’s loud, all the time. Randomly bursting into song is something she does often, usually because it is stuck in her head or she’s bored. She curses like a sailor when she’s around friends, but never when she’s around family. She hates brushing her hair, but refuses to cut it short.
Raelin has strong beliefs and generally will argue until she’s blue in the face, never conceding her point. She’s a great listener, but if she has something that she wants to talk about, she could talk your ear off. If she doesn’t want to do something, say a school paper or something like that, then she puts it off until the last second. She can be a very big procrastinator. She’s never been big on have a boyfriend, although she has had her fair share. Jealousy is a huge factor in her life. She’s been known to snap at people if she doesn’t get enough sleep at night. Some would say she’s a dreamer, as she’s never willing to let go of a dream. If she wants to do something, she’s going to do it. She hates it when people judge her before they get to know her, and usually when they do, it ruins any chance of her being their friend. Generally, instead of telling you things flat out, she tries to give you little hints, like avoiding you because she doesn’t want to hang out with you. Family and friends mean the most her and there is nothing that she would do to protect them.
Appearance: Raelin has straight, jet black hair. It goes to about the middle of her back. She has blue eyes and full lips. She's very tall, almost hitting six feet. She is almost all legs, and has long, thin fingers. She's always been quite skinny, but her arms and legs are generally always tone.
She has glasses, they are squared and black. They constantly slide down her nose, so she is forever pushing them back up. Her teeth aren't the straightest. One of her front teeth sticks out farther than the other and she has a slight overbite.
History: While at Hogwarts, Raelin’s parents, Mitchell Hughes (halfblood) and Leeandra McMillin (muggleborn) were good friends. Both were in Ravenclaw, and both excelled in Charms. They were always together, but didn’t officially start dating until after they graduated. After Hogwarts, Mitchell got a job as an Auror with the Ministry and Leeandra a job as a healer at St. Mungos. Two years out of Hogwarts, Mitchell and Leeandra married. A year later, Raelin was born on August 15th in London. For six years, Rae was an only child, and had all of her parent’s attention. Her mother has told her constantly that as a toddler, Rae could make things change color just by touch. At the age of 7, after Liam’s (her brother) birth, the talent went away.
Rae took to being an older sister like a fish to water. She was extremely protective of Liam, allowing no one but her mother and father to pick him up. If someone other than their parents did touch young Liam, Rae would burst out into tears. Even though her nurturing instinct was strong, she was jealous at times. However, Mitchell and Leeandra were sure to make her feel just as important as Liam. At 11 years old, she received her Hogwarts letter. Her parents were pleased, and told her all about the school. 5 years after Liam’s birth, Christopher was born. At this point, Rae was in her second year at Hogwarts. She was pleased when she got a second sibling, but secretly disappointed that it wasn’t a younger sister.
At Hogwarts, she was excelling in Charms, which wasn’t a shock to anyone. She struggled in Potions, as she continues to do so now, but kept her grades up. During her third year at Hogwarts, Rae got her dream of a younger sister. Marissa Hughes was born over Christmas break. This was the one and only time that Rae did not want to return to Hogwarts. She wanted to stay at home with her baby sister. However, she had to return. That summer, Rae had her first boyfriend. He was a Muggle who lived on her street. Their relationship was great, and Rae fell fast for him, but the strain of hiding her magical abilities became too much and she broke up with him on the day before she left to go back to Hogwarts.
During her fourth year at Hogwarts, Rae began to date a Ravenclaw on the Quidditch team named Blair Fraser. Things went swimmingly between the two until Rae discovered that he had a Muggle girlfriend back in his hometown of Surry. She was heartbroken and fell into a depression during the summer. Back at Hogwarts for her fifth year, she threw herself into her studies, trying to stay away from the dating scene and therefore anymore heartache. Her brother, Alexander Hughes was born. This brought her out of the depression she was falling deeper and deeper into. Over the summer, she was able to travel to France and stay with an Aunt that lives right outside of Paris. There, she discovered her love for travel.
RP Sample: Seventh-year Raelin Hughes stumbled through the halls of Hogwarts back towards the common room. She had been running around the lake, trying to exercise and clear her mind.
Classes, friends, problems at home. Everything was filling up in her mind.
Now, she exhausted and heading back to the common room to get some sleep. And as much as she loved to see and talk with her friends, she was hoping they were all asleep of busy.
The house ghost stared from at Rae when she arrived outside of the common room.
“Merlin child! You look a mess! What in world have you been doing?!”
Rae laughed, “Just running. I need a good shower, true, but I can’t look that bad.” She gripped at her t-shirt and grimaced. It was soaked through.
“Alright, well, maybe I am a little bit disheveled.” She gave the password to the painting that covered the common room while the ghost muttered, “That’s an understatement.”
As soon as she stepped through, she heard a shriek coming from over near the fireplace.
“Rae! What happened!?” It was Sophia. One of Rae’s best friends.
“Nothing, nothing! I was just out for a run.” She looked over at her friend and almost lost it from laughing. Sophia was standing there, her hair in pigtails, dressed fully in pink pajamas and pink slippers, with her jaw dropped.
“What…are…you…wearing!?” Rae asked her through her laughing fits. Not pleased by the reaction she was getting, Sophia crossed her arms and stuck out her bottom lip.
Rae doubled over, “Oh yeah, cause that look makes you seem a lot older!” Tears were streaming down her face at this point. After a few more moments of intense laughter, Rae sighed and looked up at her friend.
“Well?” Sophia glared at her, “I’m going to a party if you must know.” Rae straightened up, “What party?” She hadn’t heard anything about a party, which was unusual. Generally, gossip spread fast through the house.
“There’s a theme party thrown by the Gryffindors tonight in the Room of Requirement.” Sophia reached up and tightened her pigtails, “It’s a throw back slumber party. We have to dress like we would when we were younger.” Then, with a confused look on her face, stared at Rae, “I’m surprised you didn’t hear about it.” Rae shook her head, “Nope, hadn’t heard a thing.” She stared to head up to the showers when Sophia stopped her.
“Well hurry up and take a shower and get dressed. We don’t want to be late.”
“I wasn’t invited.”
“Oh please Rae,” Sophia snorted, “People want you there, they’ll be mad at me if I show up without you!” Rae shook her head, smiling at her best friend.
“Alright. I’ll be down soon.”
