Personality: Kaylin Quinn Locksley used to a sweet girl, always saying please and thank you, but to any that know her now this may come as a surprise. Quinn has always had a wicked streak in her that is edged with cunning and a hint of cruelty. This is the picture most would have her, of a headstrong woman that does not step down from a loosing battle or take no as an answer. Those that pass her on the street would note the characteristic sneer or self-satisfied smirk as she carried herself, head held high, down the street.
It was when her mother was killed that the young Kaylin became withdrawn, quiet and intolerant to most things. Little gave her joy, except seeing other’s hurt – but being a Ravenclaw she wouldn’t dream of physically hurting someone herself, unless it was absolutely necessary, but her sharp tongue and quick wit are often the cause a harsher lashing then any show of brut force could cause. That being said, as she grew up and took to working for the Ministry of Magic, like her mother did, she found that strength and baring your teeth did get you far when it was required.
Though Quinn may seem heartless, vulgar and cruel beyond any imaginable belief, she has common sense and a strong sense of right and wrong that she sticks too like glue. Esther van Haestregt, Quinn’s superior, would eat children if given half the chance, it was widely believed, but Quinn would know where to draw the line. Though her actions may be rash at times, Quinn always tries to look at things objectively and with all the things her mother taught her about life, responsibility and justice strongly in mind. It pleases Quinn that her mother would be proud that she was following in her footsteps.
This Hit Witch is most assuredly an implosive person. She bottles her feelings and guards them jealously, not wanting to get hurt again like she did when her mother was killed. She was extremely close to her mother and it was earth-shattering to hear of her death. It hit her hard and left a mark that would never heal. Quinn would not want it to because to her mind that is the driving force behind doing what she does: being a hit witch. It gives her a sense of fulfillment that she is certain she would not otherwise get.
Quinn is cold to others and as much as she does not let them see her emotions she blatantly disregards others’ feelings. This is how she copes with what she does day to day. She is extremely driven, blindly single-minded, though she does try to be objective. And with her willfulness and perturbation for those she chases, Quinn is able to set her goal ahead of her with ease, without fear of retribution.
History: Born in 2078 to a witch-mother and muggle-father, Quinn was the only child to Roger and Beatrix Locksley. From a young age, Kaylin showed an inquisitive nature like her mother and she was able to catch onto ideas very quickly. Beatrix was well impressed and when Kaylin was three she decided that enough was enough. She told her husband of five years, boyfriend before that of three years, that she was a witch and that she came from a long line of magical persons. Suffice it to say, Roger did not take it well and withdrew himself from the family unit they had.
In so doing, Quinn and her mother became very close. The two did everything together, all the while Beatrix teaching Kaylin about justice and her job as an Auror for the Ministry of Magic. Quinn may have come from what some would call a broken home but she did not go without much love. As she grew older though she began to wonder why her father regarded her with such disrepute and it soon became apparent that her father cared little for the wizarding world.
It was with this in mind that Kaylin left for Hogwarts, not the well wishes from her mother or the image of her mother running along side the train as it pulled away from King’s Cross. The young girl was placed into Ravenclaw for her quick mind and wittiness and it was at the first dinner in the Great Hall that she met the girl that was to be her best friend, Dia Owen. The two hit it off from the word go, talking about all the books they had read and the preparations they had made for their coming classes. For the first time, Kaylin introduced herself as Quinn at this amiable encounter and from then it became her preferred name. With her friends in toe, Quinn’s life at Hogwarts was fun but that was all too short lived.
During her finals in her second year, Quinn was called into Headmistress Wigglyfish’s office and informed that her mother had gone M.I.A. the day before and that her body had just been recovered. For a moment Quinn could not believe it, her long dark hair limply hanging over her shoulders that soon cascaded over her face as she sat forward, burying her face in her hands. From then on, Quinn wasn’t the same, cheery girl she had always been. She became obsessed with breaking people down and being a dominative figure.
Still, Quinn continued to achieve high marks at most of her subjects, and this her father seemed to be mildly impressed with. After her mother’s death, Quinn’s father became very poorly but continued to do the best he could to keep Quinn and himself clothed, fed and happy when she was with him. The young Claw definitely noticed a change in her father too. He was always eager for her to have friends over during the holidays and he would let them do whatever they wanted. Quinn thought once or twice that this was to keep her out of his hair but she never got the courage to asking him.
She graduated with excellent results and found it easy to get into the Auror program at the Ministry. After two years of training and study an opportunity presented itself for her to become a Hit Witch and she took it with both hands. The training was enjoyable for her but the true fruits of her labour came when she started working in the field chasing down criminals. She hoped to one day find the twat that killed her mother. However, she must for now put that goal aside for her job. She is back at Hogwarts by request of The Head of her department to keep everyone in check, law and order as it were. This responsibility was immense and an honour, she will not disappoint. [/font]
