Mona Eliza Bathory
“We are drifting apart
Chilled to the marrow, cause you don't want to go
Cause we've got a different wish at heart
The amulet guides us to the other side
When I go down it's you who'll bleed
I'm not scared to die, as long as I'm with you”

The Aesthetics
With her dark, chocolate brown hair with a slight auburn tint when the light hits it and her deep hazel eyes, Mona is an average looking girl, nothing particularly outstanding nor aesthetically pleasing to the eye. She usually wears her hair wavy and with a fringe and almost always wears it down. Mona does have a clear complexion however, at least most of the time and she wears very little makeup. Her style does not stretch too far and is certainly not daring or bold, rather set in her comfort zone of wearing black and comfortable clothes.
Insane in the Membrane
A Leader: When she really believes in something and often this is when she is in a teenager tantrum, she will put her foot down and refuse to be a follower. Usually Mona does this when she believes they will all be in grave danger or when she simply has been pushed too far into doing something. She gets scared at the helm like many people do, but she is one to follow her head and not her heart in matters which has sometimes ended her up in a worse situation than she thought it would.
A Follower: Although Mona would like to consider herself as a leader type and prefer to learn by her own mistakes and make her own rules, she is still very easily swayed for many things and it doesn’t not take much to be able to manipulate her. She is not typically a weak being, but she strives for acceptance and believes this is the easiest way to achieve such things with great success. In her mind, she thinks of it as doing someone a favour and one day when she really needs them that they will do something for her.
Fascination: In reality, Mona is fascinated by the darker side of magic and the more mysterious side of life and yet at the same time she is petrified of it. She is not particularly proud that she is a slytherin nor is she dismissal and she suspects her curiosity in the wicked and the obscure has probably caused her to be caged as a snake.
Malicious: Mona does have a temper somewhere inside her although it is not often shown violently and in public. She tends to get herself all wound up and will keep all her anger inside until eventually she will pop and unleash it all at once probably on some poor unsuspecting person who did not deserve it, but if that is the case she will apologise. However she will try to release the anger on the person who hurt her in the first place. She doesn’t tend to last out at the person directly; instead she gets her mind ticking and will plan out every detail malevolently. She will be waiting so long for the right moment to hatch the plan that she will eventually get bored of the wait and end up winding herself up for nothing.
If they annoy her again after her failed plans, she will take the childish route and stamp a foot whilst telling them to shut up before she did something she would regret. Of course many people see them as empty threats.
Socialite: Mona is never seen with a gaggle of friends surrounding her, instead tending to drift from a person or two to the next. She is not a loner nor is she popular but she likes it that way and she believes it gives her more personal freedom. She is not friendly enough with people to class anybody as her ‘best friend’ and she does not really think she would class any of her friendships strong enough to be able to take a bullet for anyone. She is not currently sure on the real status and meaning of ‘friend’ and because of this, she is not a particularly great friend to anybody.
Compatibility: Mona can occasionally be quite the dreamer. She often wonders about what the future will hold for her and what it will bring. She often thinks of if she will be married, have children, where she will be living and what she will be doing as a job and is rather eager to live the future and of course be able to see what it is like. Mona is unsure what she is like as a girlfriend as she has never had a boyfriend but she believes she would not be a bad one.
Little Quirks: Although she is a slytherin and their common room is in the Dungeons, Mona is scared of extremely dark places, mainly pitch black where she can’t even see her hand in front of her face. She tends to hide this well however from the other slytherins who she is sure would bully her for such a daft fear, especially since slytherins themselves are considered as dark. She is unsure exactly why she is afraid of the dark still but she is sure it is to do with a time in her childhood where she was deathly afraid.
A Retrospective
Mona Eliza Bathory was born on December 5th to Molly and Alexandrou Bathory in a small wizarding village in Cumbria called Little Langdale. Her parents actually knew each other before attending Hogwarts and were acquaintances for many years before and throughout their school life before eventually both Graduating and returning back home to Cumbria. The time through the years at Hogwarts that they spent slowly getting to know each other, the pair did not imagine taking things further than friendship. It was at Christmas on the year of their graduation that they started getting feelings for each other more that friendship and they eventually got together on Valentine’s Day the following year and began their lives as a unit.
Having a father in the ministry, Molly soon got a job as his understudy after graduation and Alexandrou managed to swing a job in the Daily Prophet as a reporter. It was always touch and go with his job as he was not particularly good at short deadlines. He has managed to keep his job however and even made it as an Editor, less stress for more money.
It was when Molly was 26 years old that she fell pregnant with her first child and even though she was unmarried, she was thrilled. She gave birth to her first daughter Helena. Molly took time off work to raise her daughter and within all the happiness of having her first child she found just two years later that she was pregnant again with her second child, the child that turned out to be Mona.
As she went into labour complications arose and Molly fell unconscious. She was rushed to St Mungo’s and was constantly assessed as she gave birth via caesarean section to Mona. Unfortunately just before they pulled her out, the room was suddenly fixed in darkness and Molly died before even setting eyes on her baby. Mona was born into the world in darkness and immediately she started crying in fright. Alexandrou was distraught over Molly’s death and he was now a widower with two daughters to support on his own. Alexandrou went into a downwards spiral of mourning for many months, his family helping him through it as much as they could. It was over a year later that he finally started returning back to his normal self.
Alexandrou coped well juggling work and home life with his two daughters Helena and Mona and things began to pick up for the Bathory’s. Alexandrou never let the girls forget about their mother and what a wonderful woman she was and how she would be so proud of the beautiful babies she had created. It was one night where he introduced his new girlfriend to his daughters and Helena immediately took to her and began calling her mom. Mona however didn’t agree with her older sister and refused to call her anything but Gretchen. She did not like her own mother being replaced by someone else and this lead to many family arguments. One night after an argument between Mona and her father about Gretchen moving in he stormed out and went to a bar, getting so drunk that he came back and told Mona it was her fault her mother was dead. Mona was mortified and as soon as her father said it, he realised what he had done. Their relationship was never the same again and Mona became a recluse.
School could not come quick enough for her and as soon as she was 11 she was off to Hogwarts. It seemed like her saving grace from her father and she thought she could escape the memories of what he had said there. She didn’t realise how much it had affected her until she began at Hogwarts and interacted with others. She seemed slightly odd and unapproachable but Mona was never sure why. Now she is in her fifth year and she is still that same little kid, afraid of the dark.
