Overall:
curious- This quality could be considered good or bad, but for the most part, it gets Leyla into a lot of trouble. She tends to poke her nose where it isn’t wanted. She’ll fish out the rumors in schools and try to find the stories behind, creating quite a few enemies while she does it. Or she’ll begin to experiment with some new knowledge she acquired, only to have it blow up in her face, sometimes literally.
adventurous- Leyla is quite the risk-taker, even if she does like to map out plans for herself. She loves the thrill of an adventure, with adrenaline pumping and her heart racing. Leyla loves to be the one to first inspect a place, or area, to make sure it’s safe or inhabitable. Plus, thanks to her keen sense of observation, she is usually the one to be picked for things like this. Her adventurous spirit gets a little over bearing at times, but her family still loves her.
closes up- When Leyla gets very emotional or very stressed, she closes herself off from everyone else. She doesn’t like to make them worry, and pretends to be happy for their sake. That, and the fact that she doesn’t exactly know how to tell someone how she feels when it comes to that. Leyla can be a great listener for other people, but when it comes to her own problems she has troubles expressing herself to them. Her solution is to close off those emotions, and pretend to be happy.
stubborn- Once Leyla sets her mind to something; it’s hard to move her from that position. She’ll fight until the end to prove she’s right, and that’s probably a downfall to her personality. Ley’s not a very loud person naturally, so when she gets into fights it’s a battle of wits rather than fists. Even being soft spoken she has a sharp tongue and a quick wit, and will stand up for her own thoughts even if she’s bound to lose.

Leyla began to show magical properties at a very young age, younger than her brother even. Toys would float, change colors and disappear from rooms. She could walk past flowers and open up the petal with only a simple touch from her fingers. Leyla just thought it was normal for people to do this, her brother had done it too. But, her parents were slowly beginning to worry about their children. What was wrong with them?
Slowly, children from the neighborhood began to ignore Leyla, and parents refused to have her over any longer. They assured her parents that she was nice and polite, but strange things happened when she was around. Leyla was basically shunned from her own town. So, she sat at home with her brother, the only one who understood what she was going through.
The first Hogwarts letter came for Derek, and everything about his life was explained. He was a wizard, and his parents were allowed to relax. Once Leyla found out what she was, she was ecstatic. A witch! Not the evil ones like from the wizard of Oz, but like a good one. She could help people, help her family. Life was going to be easier from now on, so she didn’t have to worry.
School started, and Leyla saw that everyone else in the school was just like her. She felt a sense of belonging then, because she didn’t fit in with the people in her neighborhood. These children would at least understand her. The sorting hat was placed on her waiting head and it announced that the pale beauty would be placed into Gryffindor. For the brave? Her heart only soared once she found this out. Brave, they considered her to be brave!
Her brother left school a few years after she started, and went off to Romania to work with the dragons. He urged her to choose a career path more in that direction, but Leyla’s mind would not be set on one job, not yet at least. She still had at least one year to go, and then it would be the time to decide where she should commit to.
