Muggle Studies Wood Work Emilie leaned back against her desk, a slightly smug grin found on her face as she looked around the room. She had to admit, for getting all these supplies in here by herself, she did a pretty damn good job. The other professors had been giving her weird looks though as she walked through the halls with hovering pieces of wood in front of her. Students’ faces were the most priceless though. Shock, horror, and a lot of confusion. What could the Muggle Studies witch be doing anyway? The only other person who knew was her apprentice, Mr. Alex Doyle. It had been partially his idea for this lesson, and she couldn’t help but agree. This was going to be too much fun.
The room had been mostly cleared out, save for tables in the front of the room. Round tables, that seated about four students each. Three tables, four to each table. That is, if everyone arrived. If they didn’t, well, that would rather screw up her plans wouldn’t it? Casting a glance around the room, Emilie took a mental note of all of the supplies. Alright, piles of wood set in each corner of the room (save for one since there would be three teams), the paints (up by her desk), brushes for those, the tools (with the wood), and the alarm clock sitting on her desk. She could’ve used an hour glass, of course, but this was Muggle Studies, so why not spice up the room a bit with those things?
Pale fingers tapped lightly against her desk as she looked around the room once more, making sure everything was perfectly in its place. Finally, she took out her wand and flicked it lightly, causing blankets to fall over the piles of wood, supplies and paints. This lesson was supposed to be a surprise, and so a surprise it shall be. Grinning she hoisted herself up onto her desk and crossed her legs. Emilie placed her wand behind her ear and leaned back on her hands.
“Alex better get here soon, otherwise he’s going to miss all the fun.” She murmured, still grinning like she had just won a grand prize or something. [/blockquote] Points: Attendance: +10 Lack of attendance: -10 Tardiness: -5 Other points shall be awarded as I see fit (by answering questions, bringing up a good discussion, etc.) 40 || 20 || 30 || 0

It was Muggle Studies time and Dean was finding it hard to motivate himself to actually leave the common room and his astronomy books. He could not even remember why he has taken the lesson, it was not even one of Professor Owens favourite subjects and being muggle born in the first place he knew it all…well most of it anyway. So it was with a begrudging sigh that the Hufflepuff closed his books on Galileo and made his way through the corridors of the castle to the Muggle Studies classroom.
When he pushed open the door he was rather surprised to see he was the first person there (well apart from Professor Houle) and so he entered the classroom, nervously walking in between the tables taking a seat at the furthest table away from the professor. For the briefest of moments Dean dared share eye contact with the Professor and gave a tiny nervous smile. He hated being in a room alone with anyone, and then to add to it he was in a room alone with a female teacher! He was entering the realm of nightmares!
The poor Hufflepuff was trying so hard not to turn a deep crimson that he failed to notice his surroundings and the piles of wood in the corners of the room...also the limited amount of tables. If the poor lad had cottoned on to the fact they would be working in teams he would have turned redder then a beetroot!

Ginny was being ushered out of the common room. The glare she gave him could have melted ice too bad he wasn't a cube. Imagine him treating her as if she were a baby having to be told when to go to class. The nerve of some people, she thought fuming the whole time she walked the halls. She knew very well she had class she even knew what class it was. How could she have forgotten, her father practically begged her to take it, thought it would broaden her mind.
Whatever it was a cake walk class not too hard to pass as long as you put some kind of effort into it. Hopefully they'd have a decent professor, she heard it wasn't the same one as last term. The school couldn't seem to keep a professor no matter how hard they tried. She thought DADA class was supposed to be the class cursed. Seems like they all were, it didn't matter to her she was done with this place soon anyway hopefully she could keep it together until then.
The door was already open so she walked in, good thing she wasn't first but she was second. She'd get him back for making her leave so early. Now she had to sit here and wait. Brilliant, just brilliant. Trying to remember her promise to be nicer this year Ginny did something she didn't do often anymore that was smile at the one boy already there as well as the new professor. She even managed a polite, "Hello."

It had been an hour since Blakely woke up to find herself sweating, because she had had another nightmare. She had managed to sleep through this one, but next time she would have rathered woken herself up, so that she didn't have to go through the pain. Blake considered every night going to hell and back. She got up slowly making sure she wasn't dizzy, dried off her face, and bent down to get into her trunk. She pulled out her new and pressed Hufflepuff robes. It was felt weird slipping them on. Wearing all black, Blake had managed to wear colorful clothes throughout the summer, but now it was back to being blah. She grabbed her bookbag and glanced at her schedule. Muggle Studies, yes! Blakely thought as she shoved the paper into her bag.
As Blakely entered the Common Room she noticed Dean packing up his Astrology books for the first time in his life and left. She couldn't help, but wonder where he was going? She hoped she had a few friends in her class, but wasn't sure if she would. Smiling Blake readjusted her bookbag on her shoulder and started to reassure herself that she would be fine. About five minutes after Dean had left, Blake piped up the courage to follow.
Blakely skipped through the corridors until she reached the Muggle Studies Classroom. She stopped outside the door and debated on running back to her dorm, but the best of her won. Her legs felt like jelly as she strolled into the classroom. A smile was worn on her face the entire time. She saw Dean and waved to him. Blake turned his way and took a seat next to him. "Fancy seeing you here... Muggle Studies?" Blake questioned at him. A little later she looked up at the Professor and squeeled,"Good Morning."

Typical.
Alex was late. He literally ran down the halls with screams of "You're an apprentice, stop running" following him everywhere, ripping his comb through his hair, almost running into armour and people alike. Alex blamed it on the backtoschool rush. He wasnt used to getting up this early, so it was with a skid that he halted outside the door, gaining his breathe back, bent over, hands on his knees. Standing up, the ex-ravenclaw regained his composure and put his hand on the door, stepping through, ready to make with the apologies of being an idiot, only to realise he wasnt late by much and it would probably be overlooked. Flashing a smile at Emilie, he walked over and stood by the wall at the front of the room, rather excited about this lesson for some reason and he couldnt wipe the grin from his face.
He looked around the room, seeing most of it cleaned out. He had been looking forward to this which is why he was late, since he had been up most of the night thinking about it. Typical Ravenclaw really. Walking over to Emilie he asked in a whisper, "When are we beginning?" He knew they had to wait for more students but if they didnt arrive soon they would be classed as late and he knew they would be at a disadvantage. He looked at the class with some students already in it and gave a gulp, he didnt realise standing here was so much different, eyes on you and all that and he suddenly felt like he wanted to shrink back down and join the class. Of course that would defeat the whole object of what being an apprentice was really about. It was eerie, two females, well three if you counted Emilie, one male, two with Alex, but the male student was looking a little nervous, or maybe awkward, either one his face was glowing but Alex tried not to draw attention to it. He flashed a smile at everyone, and went back to the comfort of his wall and waited for Emilie to start the lesson properly.

Did prefects really have to go to classes? Apparently, yes, since he was just yelled at for loitering on his way to Transfiguration. So what if he was walking like a turtle with no legs? That class wasn't even important to him in the first place and it actually felt relatively odd and empty without the malevolent presence of his sister. That was surprising, why should he miss her? All she did was treat him like dirt, like an older sister should. Bleh.
"Whatever." He grumbled on his way towards Muggle Studies, probably one of the more useless classes. Bray certainly didn't plan on living like a muggle anytime soon and some of the muggle borns were probably just as bored with the class. But, it was a blow-off class for him and that's what counted.
But then again, who knew if it was really going to be that way. It was yet another new professor, making their debut lesson. "Oh, hey Professor." He said with raised brows at all the tarps spread around the room and Doyle looking like he might keel over and throw up. Oh, great, this was going to be a blast.
Maybe someone he knew would show up soon so he wouldn't be forced to continue standing here in awkward silence.

close to whirling around and biting her arm to stop herself from getting a detention for being late. This close, when she realised she wasn't late at all. "Oh, I'm sorry." She laughed sheepishly, brushing herself off. "Sorry 'bout that mate." Willa apologised to Bray. "Lucas was chasing me with leaves. Leaves, Bray." A frightened frown crept on to her face; it was common knowledge they scared the stuffing out of her. Luckily she had lost him among the hallways by hiding in a suit of armor. Sure, she happened to get stuck in there for a half hour, but at least she had gotten out in time and wasn't late. Having time to breathe normally now the Gryffindor bent a little, resting her hands on her knees and inhaling deeply. "Whew.." She murmured, glad she was in shape enough to keep running a longer time. Though all this excersize was sure to have her shedding a few pounds. "Whats on the agenda today, prof?" Willa questioned the new professor, glancing around the room curiosly and nursing her bruised arm. She hoped she hadn't injured Kaiyo too badly, she had smashed into her in the hall before flying into the room, hence the loud entrance.[/ul]

Such an odd life she lead.. Getting stuck in a refridgerator, tripping over air, falling through a ghost and sleeping with her face in rice pudding.. She was sure to turn heads in the hallway, if only because she was the cutest insane person that still had a reputation intact. Having been walking to Muggle Studies, she heard loud, rushed footsteps behind her, and turned around just in time to have Willa Abbott smash into her. Crying out as they toppled to the floor the Gryffindor quickly helped her up before taking off again, Kaiyo rubbed the part of her head that was sure to bruise in the morning. "Ay.." She muttered with a small frown, making a note to tell Katya about this when she got back to the common room after class.
Hearing another loud bang and some clattering before stepping into the room, the Ravenclaw caught sight of Willa jolting up beside a frazzled, perhaps surprised Bray. Fighting back a small laugh threatening to bubble up her throat she slapped a hand over her mouth, glancing the other way until the feeling passed. "Herro professor." Kaiyo greeted her with a smile and a little wave, figuring the Gryffindor already asked what they were doing so there was no need to echo it. Looking around and seeing who was all there, her mind started to wander..

Had it really been seven years already. Kendal couldn't believe it as she walked the halls. She marveled at how the time just flew by and how she had grown both as a student and an individual. The school where she had just wanted to come so she could learn magic had become so much more to her. It was a second home to her a place she could turn to. Kendal didn't think she was ready for it to be over she loved the magical world too much loved Hogwarts too much.
Tripping over her own foot brought the brunette back to Earth. Looking around the halls she saw how they thinned out. Class must have started already and she was due in muggle studies. She wasn't late yet so she didn't feel the need to rush it walking along she started humming a little ditty. Sometimes she did this not realizing it people often looked at her as if she were insane but she loved music it was part of her. The song was something from years ago if she remembered it came out in her second year.
Still humming as she got to the classroom she made her way in. Staring around the room she stopped humming seeing that it was quite packed already. Good turnout for muggle studies. Taking a seat in somewhere near the middle. Hoping the class would get started soon she was always eager to learn about muggles from a wizarding perspective.

Post by theodorik on Aug 26, 2008 4:25:30 GMT
Theodorik woke up that morning with the worst of headaches. He had stayed up into the night reading his books to prepare for his classes for his fourth year at Hogwarts. Clutching his head as he got up, Theo could hear the blood in his head echo through his ears. It was unusual for him to have a headache, especially when staying out late to read was a usual behaviour of his. Getting up from his bed, Theo looked at the clock next to him. Damn, fifteen minutes, was the first thought that came to him. With all thought of his headache gone, Theo threw himself together and grabbed his Muggle Studies book with some parchment, ink, and a few quills.
Running into the common room, Theo pocketed his wand and left the Ravenclaw common room through the portrait door. Running through the corridors, Theo realised he wasn’t quite late, but it would perhaps be the latest he had ever been to a class, especially his first class of the term. Stopping at the door of the Muggle Studies classroom, Theodorik took deep breath; his headache was coming back again. He stepped through the door to find the queerest classroom.
In three corners of the classroom there were cloth covered mounds. Theo didn’t care to think of what was under the cloth, his headache was splitting. Standing in the front of the classroom were three circular tables and the professor, Professor Houle as Theo recalled. He walked silently through the room and sat at one of the four tables, preferring to suffer in peace rather than talk to someone. He tried to remember the spell that healed this malady, but obviously the malady was causing him to forget the solution. Ugh, the world is a tough place!

Bray had actually beaten her to the class, go figure.
Felicity raced around the common room, grabbing up quills and books and whatever else she thought she'd need today. The teacher made a point to make the lesson a "secret", which was irking her at the moment. Shoving the books under her arm, she made her way hurridly down the stairs, trying not to trip as she did. It was a miracle she didn't, considering the haste she was running at. She couldn't be late for the class, that meant less points for the Claws.
Racing down the stairs, Felicity felt the familiar shift as they began to move. “Bloody Hell!" She took the stairs two at a time now, and lunged from where the stairs were moving to actual stable land. Fay landed with a huff, and for a moment was rather proud of herself for making such a jump. But, now was not the time to be gloating over her awesome jumping skills.
Running again, Felicity finally made her way over to the classroom. She stopped in front of the door, fixed her over all appearence, then slipped into the room. Professor Houle was perched on a desk, with several round tables facing her. “Morning Professor." Fay said brightly, before lacing Bray's arm with hers and dragging him over to a table; afterwards she flopped down into a seat and sent a rather worried look over to the piles in the corner. Oh dear, what were they doing today?

Students slowly stared pouring into the room, much to her delight. Emilie did not move from her spot on her desk though, it was surprisingly comfortable. Plus, it made her seem taller than everyone else, which was a definite plus in her mind. One of the Hufflepuffs, Dean, looked about ready to explode by the different shades of red her was turning. Her lips turned upward into a small smile, before her attention was quickly averted by a certain red-haired girl bowling into the classroom.
“Miss Abbott, I would appreciate it if you didn’t try to injure the other students. I’ll let you off for a warning this time, because I know you were oh so excited to get to this class.”
Her lips were quirked up into a smirk, and she raised a delicate eyebrow at the Gryffindor’s question. Breaking out into a full blown smile, she just shook her head and placed a finger against her lips. “Sorry chillun, you’ll just have to wait until I begin class to see.” Was it strange for her to feel giddy? Probably. And Hubbles thought she was one of those bookworm teachers, ha!
“Find a seat, find a seat. Where you’re sitting now won’t really matter in a moment, trust me.”
Emilie waited a few more moments, before finally jumping off the desk. She flicked her wand so the door shut, and gave a little nod to herself. Glancing back over to the class, Emilie leaned back against the desk and placed her wand behind her ear. She surveyed the children with pursed lips, obviously deciding something. Finally, she straightened up and clasped her hands behind her back.
“We’re going to start with a discussion today. Don’t worry, it’s not what we’ll be doing for the whole class period, it’s just to get a few things out of the way.”
That, and it seemed to be a very good opportunity for the students to earn some points. Emilie brushed some hair from her eyes before starting again. “I’m assuming you all know what muggles are.” She quirked an eyebrow, as if challenging them to oppose her. “So, would anyone like to tell me why exactly we take Muggle Studies? And saying ‘because we have to’ will lose you some points.” She leaned back against her desk. "And I won't accept 'to learn more about muggles'. Try to get a little in depth." Everyone after this post will be considered late! You’ll only receive five points for attendance after this point. 40 || 20 || 30 || 0

Almost as soon as Theodorik had come in, the door was closed and the class had begun. Professor Houle, a beautiful woman, grabbed the attention of the class simply by speaking. She said they would start with a discussion; the word ‘discussion’ made Theo perk. His headache suddenly disappeared as he thought of an answer for the question Professor Houle had asked. He quickly thought the answer and without giving warning, began an explanation, “Professor, we take Muggle Studies because the subject is very important to our understanding of the world. The world of muggles affects our world in multiple ways as does our world to theirs. How can we understand the effects of magic without understanding muggles since they are often affected by magic? By understanding muggle society, we can better understand our own.”
Theodorik was feeling smart again, even if his answer was somewhat jumbled. Taking a deep breath after answering, Theo felt at home again; answering questions and understanding issues. He smiled slightly, showing his happiness at being home again at the school he loved so much.

Bowled over by Willa Abbott... again! It seemed like that was a reoccurring part of his life ever since he went to school and she was likely to give him bruises if he didn't have such a good sense of balance. Cats always land on their feet right? Well, kittens sure didn't. Instead he just listened to her excuse and couldn't help but break out into a grin and laugh. "God forbid! Not Leaves, Willa?" He said in a mocking tone, though the look in his face had the general pity and concern of a normal person. Everyone had their fears, some just had more abnormal ones than others.
But before he could continue scolding her on not running over him like he was a welcome mat, he was being dragged off by his arm by a certain veela girl. Oh great, she was in this pointless class too? Let's have a pureblood, and a veela, learn about muggles. This should be wonderful! There was just something about this class that always made him a little cynical, as he never seemed to see the point of it and wasn't sure on why he even took it. And apparently, the professor sensed his skepticism and decided to launch a discussion on it.
Bray smiled at the thought but kept quiet, since he wasn't sure that he could muster up a plausible excuse besides 'because purebloods don't care about muggles, and they want to make the halfbloods more comfortable'. Wasn't that dreary? It almost made him thing he should be in Slytherin.
