This year had gone by so fast. The summer, the term, the work unit... everything. Tyson had been sitting through an employee meeting for about three hours starting at eleven o'clock in the morning. He walked in took his seat and sat there. He could care less about listening to what the exectutive, head, and deputy had to say about the Daily Prophet. He knew when to stand, when to talk, when to ahem and I see, when to shut up, and when to leave. The Daily Prophet possee had these meetings so often Ty had it memorized. This time he wasn't even going to try and pay attention. They were all the same: criticizing the same people and congratulation the same people. The only time Tyson listened was whenever they gave out your new assignment.
Tyson had been very scared on what his new writing job would be. A new term of Hogwarts and a new year of working with the Ministry meant that his boss was going to come up with some wacky, off the wall subject for him to write about. Ty had all these crazy things piled up in his head, that when his subject was given to him he almost fainted. He walked out of the Daily Prophet building in Diagon Alley and read his assignment off to himself,"Tyson White: Something you were always passionate about in you Hogwarts Years, but never piped up the Courage to go after It." He new exactly what he should write about, but would that be the best idea.
Blowing the suggestion off he apparated into Hogsmede to get away from all of the hustle and bustle. Tyson couldn't get the idea out of his head. He scurried into the Three Broomsticks to have a drink over it. Ty walked up to the bar and asked for a butterbeer just like Hogwarts times, his school days- maybe sitting down like he was still in Hogwarts would give him another idea. Taking a seat at a nearby booth that was vacant nothing came to him, nothing but the same idea from earlier. Sipping his butterbeer the door rang and he looked over.
Tyson's mouth must have been hanging wide open. It was none other than Shayla Kane: his crush since he was in the second year. He had his younger cooties crush on her and then when he was older he had the drool she was so pretty and had the best personality ever crush on her. She was a year younger than him and in Gryffindor- so outgoing, gorgeous, and smart, but Tyson was a year older and in Ravenclaw- so nerdy, cute, and intellegent. Not the perfect match... he thought. He looked away and thought this must have been a sign from God- he had to write about his crush on Shayla Kane for his assingment.
He sipped his buterbeer and layed his cheek in the palm of his hand and looked the other direction, hoping she wouldn't recognize who he was. Tyson looked the other direction and cursed under his breath,"Blast she's coming over here." What was he supposed to do? He was just a twenty-five year old man, who worked for the Daily Prophet, and who is having a hissy fit when his Hogwarts School crush walked into the Three Broomsticks...

It was during her first year of school at Hogwarts, she had noticed a book about magical careers in the library. Looking at it, she read up on all the different types of jobs one could have after graduating Hogwarts. None of them really appealed to her not at first until she came to the section on aurors. She read that chapter repeatedly making up her mind immediately. There was no rhyme or reason to this decision. It was something that appealed to her, a dream she latched onto and never let go. Her parents weren't sure how they felt about her taking on such a dangerous career but that didn't stop her. She worked hard studied hard got all the necessary grades and in the end, her dreams came true.
After she left school, she went right into auror training. It was the proudest moment of her life and her parent's lives even if they didn't want to admit it. It took a few years but she made it top of her training class and now she was a full-fledged auror. There was no stopping her now. In her first year, she had seen more than she ever anticipated but she loved it all and was good at it, better than many of her male counterparts thought she would be. Soon it was common knowledge that Shayla Kane was the auror. Some felt threatened by this she got a lot of dirty looks and nasty notes left on her desk. None of this bothered her since she didn't scare easily.
That last part wasn't exactly true. Maybe now, she didn't scare easy but when she was younger, there was one thing that had frightened her. A boy of course he was a really handsome boy she noticed him her first year he was actually the first boy she had ever really noticed. He was a year older than she was so she didn't think he'd ever look twice at her. She admired him from afar for the rest of his time at the school. Her friends used to tease her threaten to tell him how she felt. Shay pretended to get mad, beg them not to say anything but in reality, she wanted them to then maybe she didn't have to hide it anymore. That never occurred her friends took her seriously. What a pity.
She often wondered what happened to him, where he was, if he'd grown up to be just as handsome as he was when they were in school together. Maybe she should look him up. She laughed softly to herself at the thought because she knew even she wasn't that bold not even now.
Opening the door to the Three Broomsticks Shayla stepped in. The place was a light and airy, sometimes a there were too many people in it, but it was her salvation. This is where she came when she had a hard day. There was no better place. Smiling at the barman who knew her by name Shayla began to walk up to him that was until she noticed someone, someone she had just been thinking about. Could it be after all these years Tyson White, her long time crush? The barman started speaking but Shayla had already started walking off walking to him. Reaching his table she stopped, swallowed, then said in a shaky voice, "Tyson is that you?"

The sun was going down. Sunset was arising. Dawn soon to come. In all of the books he had read and movies he had watched seeing the girl of your dreams when the sun was setting was never a good thing. Tyson didn't know much about women, he had never had a fling, a divorce, or even a date. He felt so pathetic. As for how beautiful she was, Ty figured she had had so many boyfriends it was ridiculous! Trying to find his cool, Tyson glanced back over to where Shayla was.
"Crap, did she notice me?" Ty mumbled under his breath. If she had this would the death of him. She was still walking his way. He took a sip of his butterbeer and pretended to look out the window, but secretly he was still watching her every move. Tyson was trying to come up with something to say, an excuse to use, or just to get up and leave. So many choices and decisions. Tyson wasn't done picking one when he heard a very familiar voice, but yet it had changed so much.
"Tyson is that you?"
It was Shayla. It had to be. Tyson knew tons of people, but because he was the best Daily Prophet writer, the magical people of the streets of London are too intimidated to talk to him, plus Ty didn't have that many friends and certainly none that hung out at the Three Broomsticks. Tyson took a deep breath, shivered, cried out in pain and suffering, got brave, and turned around. He smiled- oh she was so gorgeous, how could she still be single? "Shayla... Shayla Kane?" was all Tyson could spit out.
Tyson was just too occupied on if she took a seat. He would have to run away. The only girls he'd ever talked to were the ones on staff and none of them were very pretty or enthusiastic. He tried not to look to excited, but not too nervous to see her. The corners of his mouth perked up so that he was grinning. "Yea it's me..." He muttered a bit after he said her name. Wow this was embarassing. Before he knew it, he had pulled his hands from around his glass and offered her the seat across from him. To himself Ty thought Man what have you gotten yourself into.

When she finally got a good look at him, Shay had to admit that if he was Tyson White he looked even better now than he did when they were younger. He had certainly grown into his looks, there was only one word to describe him and that was gorgeous. Shayla was kicking herself how did she let him get away. Why couldn't she have taken a chance? Now she suddenly felt a bit shy the young Shayla of Hogwarts was back. A man that looked that good must have women swarming all over him all the time she was probably just one of the many.
Maybe he wouldn't even remember her; she often thought that she was a rather forgettable girl nothing but her bubbly personality really stood out. Now she started to wonder if this little visit to his table was a good idea. Still feeling shy, she looked outside instead. The view out there might be easier to deal with. She noted that the sun was starting to set. How she loved to watch sunsets. It was pretty pink/orange color completely romantic. Ok the view was no longer safe so it was back to looking at Tyson which was even less safe.
Staring at him again, she could tell that he seemed a little uncomfortable around her but she had no idea why. It’s possible he really had forgotten who she was and her just coming up to him like that he left him with no idea what to say That happened to her so many times, strangers walked up to her saying hey Shayla and she just glared at them or fidgeted because she didn't even have a clue whom they were. She was about to put him out of his misery when he said her whole name. He actually remembered her. Shayla's jaw would have dropped had she not been in control of her faculties. She never thought he knew she was alive while they were in school yet alone know her name.
Stunned silence followed until he again spoke confirming her suspicions that he was Tyson. Boy what a difference a few years makes. Shayla wanted to sit down with him the urge came rather suddenly. Her eyes glanced in his direction a hopeful look on her face. Would he dare? Yes, he would. He asked and Shayla immediately accepted. "Sure I'd love to." Taking the seat across from him Shayla tried to act as if she hadn't thought about this moment a thousand times before. "It's been years, how have you been."

Darkness fled over Hogsmede. It was getting later and later. Tyson was freaking out. It was sunset and he was alone (well not exactly, but for the most part) with his crush from forever. This was not good, nor was it safe for Tyson? If he does spends too much time with Shayla he might get comfortable and do something stupid. Ugh what if he did? This was getting out of hand. All Tyson wanted to was sit there and have a long conversation with Shayla as if he'd known her forever, but the other part of him wanted to run, far far away!
Tyson looked into Shayla's deep chocolate brown eyes. They were beautiful just like the rest of her, but those eyes have probably looked into so many mens eyes and thought the same thing he's thinking right now. As he stared at her Ty noticed that she looked amazed. Amazed at what... Tyson couldn't capture what she would look so bewildered about. And then it donged on him. He knew her name- but the funny part was that she knew his too. How strange, Tyson barely ever talked to her and she too him, so how did they know so much about each other. Ty's eyes bulged and he had the craziest idea, but he knew it couldn't be true- but could Shayla like him? Nah! Ty reassured himself.
Tyson couldn't take his eyes off of her. But he kept looking, he was glued to her beauty and radiant smile. She seemed a bit uncomfortable to be around him. That was not what Ty wanted to see. He wanted her to be happy to see him, excited that he invited her to sit with him, because that was a big step for him. Tyson knew he was imagining things and pshyching himself out, but what if it wasn't. He pinched himself to make sure this wasn't a dream. Cursing in his head, he realized this was reality.
"Sure I'd love to."
Shayla began to talk. Her voice was like flowing silk in a fabric shop. More beautiful than any of the women Tyson's heard talk. He smiled as Shayla took a seat. He couldn't believe this was him sitting in this seat. This had to be an accident. "One question-" Ty started,"What do I call you Shayla or can I call you Shay?" He knew that was a stupid question, but what if he began to call her something that she prefered not to be called. This was complicated.
"It's been years, how have you been."
Before she answered Tyson's question she started a conversation of her own. It had been years, yes it had. How had he been? Hmm- hard question. He had terrible bosses, retarted co-workers, and the best job he could ask for. As soon as he graduated Hogwarts he went to school to become a Daily Prophet Writer and now he settled into his new apartment. But his life just came together when she stepped into The Three Broomsticks. Tyson couldn't tell her all of that so he simply said,"Fantastic you?"

How could you tell what someone was thinking when they didn't give you much to go on? Those were the things on Shayla's mind as she observed Tyson. His mind just seemed to be working all the time at full speed. What she wouldn't give to see inside, to see the inner working, to find out just what if anything he thought of seeing her now. She was thinking a lot herself her latest thought led her to the first time she had seen him standing in the hall with a group of friends there were quite a few of them but he was the one that stood out to her. She had been looking at him and only him that day she nearly walked into a wall because her eyes were glued.
For years after that, she'd seen him around. She secretly wished that they had just locked eyes with each across the crowded corridor and then boom one of those Hollywood moments the one where everyone else around dissolved and they are the only two left in the halls their eyes never leaving one another as they walk purposefully toward each other. Once they reach the tension was palpable there was nothing left but for him to take her in his arms and kiss her like she had never been kissed. Of course, that never happened. Shayla didn't have the nerve to talk to him, he didn't notice her and Shayla's first kiss was in a dusty old broom cupboard at school, during a game of truth or dare.
Shayla hated the "what if" game but it seemed all she could think about now. What if they had met then? What if he liked her? What if she stops acting like a girl? It didn't happen then and it probably wasn't going to happen now. He was so handsome, studious from what she remembered, and there had been many other girls with crushes on him. What chance did plain old Shayla have? He probably had a wife or girlfriend. Checking out his ring finger, she saw nothing, not even a ring tan line. So there was no wife but a girlfriend, there were probably two or three. She herself hadn't had much luck when it came to men. She and men always seemed to want different things.
She didn't think she wanted to know the answer to that, because being jealous of some unknown girl wasn't on the agenda for that day. Plus if she didn't ask, she could still think he was unattached keep the fantasy going a bit longer.
When he asked if she prefer to be called Shayla or Shay a question she had been asked several times before so she answered honestly "Shay is ok with me since it's you. I only allow certain people to use that nickname." She left out the part about only special people being allowed to call her that. He didn't know it but he was special, very special the one she let get away.
His life was fantastic, how could it not be? He was Tyson White he was a gifted student destined for great things. He must have achieved them all he was everything he wanted out of life. It must be nice she thought while thinking of the one thing her life seemed to be lacking. "Good to hear it I'm so happy for you. So what do you do?" Shayla had been in training for long that she had lost contact with the outside world she wasn't allowed to read the paper then and still hadn't been reading it since she started work. So she had no idea that he was a reporter.

His life was passing through his eyes. Tyson saw his mother die during childbirth with his sister Kalieena, his father dropping his sister and himself off on the step of a vacant orphanage doorstep, being a baby only about one year to two years old on the verge of death, Penelope Hayes taking them in and nursing them to health, him offering to change his last name to match hers, recieving a letter of acceptance to Hogwarts, leaving Kalieena and Penelope, and Kalieena joining him a year later. That was just his childhood before the age of eleven.
Then something else hit him: his Hogwarts Years. Tyson could care less about all of it except that one day. The day everyone came back to school and the first years had just gotten out of the sorting ceremony and he was standing in a group of his friends outside of the Great Hall. He was to the side and watching the people walk out and in. Ty was dozing off into a lovely dream of what it would be like to have a girlfriend. But it was interupted when a girl walked out. She had beautiful long blonde hair that ran down her back, gorgeous tan skin, dark chocolate brown eyes, and an averege height of an eleven year old. Tyson's eyes had been glued to her, but she turned around to run into a wall and they never locked eyes.
Tyson had always regreted her looking the other direction, but he loved and hated playing the game of "what if". What if they would have locked eyes, what if they would have hooked up as eleven and twelve year olds and had a fairytale life, gotten married, had kids... and so on. He snapped out of his little daydream and decided to figure out if this was a waste of time or not. His eyes drifted to her ring finger and it was vacant. Nothing, zilch, zero. She wasn't taken, but surely there had to be some kind of man. She was too wonderful not to be taken.
"Shay is ok with me since it's you. I only allow certain people to use that nickname."
He smiled, or more like grinned. He was a certain person. Wow that was amazing. Alright Shay it was, if he could call her that why not take advantage of it. "Alright Shay, are you trying to keep how your life is going from me?" Ty joked and then she spoke again:
"Good to hear it I'm so happy for you. So what do you do?"
Shayla was happy for him. If only she knew the half of it. His mouth must have dropped to the ground. She didn't know what he did. He was the most famous Daily Prophet writer there was... people praised him. But he gave a low sigh under his breath and answered,"I'm head Daily Prophet Writer, but enough about me... what about you!" He smiled again and sipped his butterbeer,"You want anything?"

He wanted to know how her life was going. It was ok but there was something that could have made it a whole lot better him being with her. He was the only boy she had ever thought of marrying. Funny how things work out. When she was younger she dreamed of being an auror she went after it and it didn't matter what anyone said. She dreamed of Tyson too but never had the gall to go after him. It was something she would always regret even now.
Perhaps she could change that though. It must have been fate that brought them in here on the same day. If you believed in that kind of thing that is, and right now she did believe it. Now she simply needed to find the courage to say what needed to be said. Then she realized that she hadn't answered him. She was letting him do most of the talking givng away nothing about herself.
Trying to rectify that she began, "Oh well my life is going rather well I've been working as an auror for the last year something I've wanted to do since my first year at Hogwarts." Among other things, she thought to herself. She had no idea why this way so hard what it was about him that made her feel so inferior. She wanted him to notice her then and she wanted him to notice her now, but she didn't think that was ever going to happen. To him she'd just be some girl he went to school with while to her he'd always be the boy who should have been hers.
Keeping a smile firmly planted on her face she listened on as he told her that he was head writer for the Daily Prophet. A very prestigious position one she would assume was coveted by many. He had done well for himself she was sorry she didn't know that. "Oh that's great I wish I had known. I just haven't kept up with the paper, three years of auror training there wasn't much time for reading and after starting work I guess I sort of never picked up the habit again. That's certainly about to change now. I can't wait to read what you've written. I'm sure you're amazing at it, you were always amazing." Her eyes widened in shock had she just said that out loud? No, no, no, Shay wasn't that crazy but replaying her words in her mind she heard it loud and clear.
Oh boy this was cause for some serious blushing. Her face turned so very red that she felt as if it were on fire. She had to turn away from him collect herself. Hopefully he wouldn't read too much into her words, yes that thought comforted her some men didn't really listen most of the time anyway at least not the men she knew.

Amazing? Amazing! Amazing. Had the Shayla Kane just called plain Tyson White amazing? That just couldn't sink it wouldn't, but yes it went up to his head. What could that mean? He replayed the scene, the sentence, her words in his head over and over and over again. Oh Ty, don't read too much into it, i'm sure it doesn't mean anything! He reassured himself. It couldn't. I'm sure she had was washing dishes at her happy family house and took off her ring and forgot to put it back. Amazing...
Tyson thought about everything else she had said. About her career, life, and about his job, but the amazing thing just stuck out. Maybe he was listening too hard and imagined it. Yea that was it, of course! He took a deep breath, swallowed the evolving large lump in his throat, felt the butterflies in his stomach and said,"That's funny, ever since I was sorted into Ravenclaw I believed I was smart enough to become a Daily Prophet Writer," Ty smiled,"I guess great minds develop their careers alike in their first year?" That came out awkwardly, but what could he say, maybe she would understand. For goodness sake he was a writer, shouldn't he be good with words?
It popped up again. Amazing, he searched his mental dictionary for the meaning, yep just what he thought. His eyes must have been out of their sockets and his cheeks all rosey. "Well, there's never a better time to start reading again huh!" Tyson said as he took a swig on his butterbeer. "You sure you don't want anything?" He asked as he ordered her a butterbeer anyway. Just like old time; right?
Tyson was dying to say something about her not being married. He searched his abnormally large brain of all of the things he'd ever written about love and tried to apply them. How did he ask without sounding completely stupid. It was now or never. He cleared his throat and asked,"So I noticed you came in here alone, where's your husband..." He must have trailed off. How embarassing. He relistened to what he just said and turned different shades of pink. What had he done.
Swallowing back the screams and anger he had bubbling up inside of him for being such a complete idiot and asking such the wrong things, Tyson sat there. He glanced out the window to get control of himself again. The waiter came back with Shayla's butterbeer and Ty slid it to where the straw faced her. He smiled and sat patiently for her to get up and walk away.

Since they began speaking Shayla had been so wrapped up in feelings of old to actually pay proper attention to Tyson. Being an auror gave her a keen sense when it came to people. Just by observing someone for a few minutes she could tell all she needed to about them enough to make an informed decision as to whether or not she should pursue. This was good for work but in her personal life she had yet to fine tune this gift. If she had she'd be reading Tyson right now because he was acting rather odd.
Had she paid attention she would have seen how nervous he was around her. Then she would have questioned why. What was it about her that made him seem so out of sorts. Lucky for the both of them she was too nervous herself to pay much attention if she had she would be sitting there thinking that maybe he was nervous because he was feeling what she was feeling.
Instead she was staring at him, dreamily the way she used to when they were in school together. She hung on his every word as if they were gospel. His voice soft and sweet just like she remembered. He wasn't one of those loud boys he had been more soft spoken like every word he said to you was only being said to you. Shay smiled remembering the first time she'd heard it she knew right away it was his and she committed it to memory then and there.
"Yes great minds do seem to think alike one track minds and all that. But yes I think I will be reading the Prophet again now that I know they finally have a decent reporter on payroll. It's good to know we've both gotten what we want out of life." She flushed at her itty bitty white lie, she didn't have what she really wanted.
Her butterbeer came then she used to love drinking them when she was in school somehow he knew that yet she didn't know how. What was going on? How could he have known? She was probably thinking too much a lot of people liked butterbeers he probably just got her what he was having. That had to be it, so she left it alone enough wishful thinking.
Wishful then turned into hopeful when he asked where her husband was. Straw in her hand as she swirled the butterbeer around in the glass Shayla looked up at him, a crease in her brow as she wondered how to explain that she was 24 and single. It wasn't a talking point for her especially since her parents were so apt to remind her she was getting older and needed to settle down. Staring down at the contents of her glass in stead of him she opened her mouth and this is what came out, "I have the career I want but that's really just about it. There's no one special hasn't been for a long time. But what about you I'm sure there's a girlfriend stashed somewhere some super model no doubt."
She smiled but that smile did not reach her eyes. The thought of him looking at someone else with those eyes, speaking to someone else with that voice, kissing someone else with those lips, or even touching someone else with those hands made Shay want to run away and never step foot in this place again. There was no way she could fake being happy for him and a stranger woman.

Brain or no brain? Tyson chose brain. He needed one for what was going on. Could this really be happening? Being a writier sometimes you couldn't get the interview or you had to get your paper from a persons point of view, so this taught Ty a lot about reading people by their facial expressions, body language, and so on, but Shayla was so different, not in a bad way of course.
One minute she is all vibrant and smiling; her big beautiful chocolate brown eyes glowing with happiness and the next she is all dark and dull like a storm cloud floated over her. But there is also where her small petite light pink slightly rosie red lips squished together like they were holding something in and her brow formed a one liner and she was thinking, concentrating on the prize, but maybe it was just a girl thing?
He glanced from the window, to his butterbeer; looking at all of the odd white swirls the fizz made, to Shayla's face. She seemed to be in an odd daze like she was dreaming of something, but she was staring at him. What did he do? This had never happened to him before. Okay Ty stay calm. He looked at her and caught himself doing the exactly the same thing.
"Yes great minds do seem to think alike one track minds and all that. But yes I think I will be reading the Prophet again now that I know they finally have a decent reporter on payroll. It's good to know we've both gotten what we want out of life."
Tyson knew at that moment that this was a gift from God; him meeting Shayla here tonight. It had to be. Because he for one had not gotten everything he wanted out of life. Oh no not even close, because what he wanted most was sitting across from him not beside him, not kissing his lips, not standing at the alter next to him. There was something wrong with this picture. "Ha ha," he said sarcasticaly with a bit of a chuckle afterwards,"I haven't gotten everything in life...." he wandered off in her thoughts. Leaving a dead in... she would be wanting more; he hoped.
"I have the career I want but that's really just about it. There's no one special hasn't been for a long time. But what about you I'm sure there's a girlfriend stashed somewhere some super model no doubt."
She stirred her drink like it was gold or something, like she hadn't had one in years. How could that be? Everyone loved butterbeer, it was like the main deal if you were magical, but he guessed not. A laugh escaped his lips,"A super model?" he questioned. Ty wished. Even being the best writer of his time Tyson hadn't met too many awesome people, really nobody famous at all, besides Shay of course. "Well Shay sorry to burst your bubble, but I don't have anyone famous for you to meet tonight..." He admitted.
Trailing off into his thoughts he mumbled something,"Actually i've never ever had a girl friend..." It was just loud enough so she could hear. How pathetic, thinking back on it now he had never had a girlfriend, never had a kiss, his sister did hug him one time, but that was about it.

Nothing should be this hard. Shayla was used to things coming easy for her. Most of the time she batted her lashes or flipped her hair and guys fell all over themselves trying to get at her, but she knew what they were after so she just let them fall. For once she met a guy she knew wanted more, a guy she knew in her heart was one of the good ones but all Shayla could do was act like that same eleven year old who glimpsed him in the halls the day of her sorting.
After all this time she still couldn't seem to get it right. Shayla knew that fate brought her here. There was no longer any doubt of the validity of that thought but fate could only do so much the rest was up to her. So far all she managed to do was make polite conversation, and stare at the man like she was ditzy or something. Confident, sophisticated Shayla seemed to have abandoned ship leaving this sort of pathetic mess in her wake.
This wasn't how this was supposed to go. No whenever she thought of running into him again she was wearing just the right outfit, her hair was stellar, her face flawless, and she was making him fall for her. Then she would suddenly tell him that she had always fancied him and still fancied him, that if he wasn't taken she wanted to be his other half. That's what should have been happening now. Instead she was sitting there wishing that somehow she could make up a good excuse and leave.
"I haven't got everything in life..."
He said to her and she stopped what she was doing. Could this be, could he be? Shayla began to feel excited it was an unexplained excitement that started from the pit of her stomach and worked its way up making her feel lighthearted almost giddy where before she felt terrible. Then in an odd twist of fate he informed her that there was nobody in his life.
A chorus rang out in her mind just then, they were signing praise. Shay had gotten what she wanted another opportunity to finally get this right. She had been so excited by this news she missed the bit of him saying he never had a girlfriend. Shayla was suddenly perky again.
"What are the odds of us both being here today of all days, and both being unattached." This was as bold as she could get without saying Tyson please pick me.

[[Okay Lexi, i'm really worn out because school today wasn't exactly how I pictured it and I have like no friends in my class and i'm quite shy, so this post CERTAINLY won't be as good as all of my last ones, but please bare with me I shall do my best!!]]
Tyson sat there. He was not the bold person to walk right up to someone and start talking. Neither was he the person who noticed somebody he knew at the market and yelled their name to get their attention and jog over to give them a manly hug. Nope, not Ty. So here he was knowing nothing about relationships with the most beautiful and fantastic girl of his dreams and could ever imagine... she must have been the complete opposite of him. This could never work out!
There had been talk around that whenever you meet the person for you that you should spend the rest of your life with that their should be "sparks" or you will just "click", but how were you supposed to know if that was happening. Or if there was nothing and your meeting was all a waste of time? This question was bugging Tyson, it was giving him paranoia that he was doing something wrong, that Shayla thought he was crazy, or such and such, so, being the retarted doing everthing without a thought, Tyson he asked very quickly, almost where you couldn't understand..."Shayla... have you everwondered whether you like or maybe even love someone, but you can't really tell whether you like them back, butyou believe in fate and all of that? What do youdo?"
Some of his words ran together, but he had said it and now she was going to get up and run away. He practically hit himself in the forehead, but only imagining it. What had he done? But then he heard her go quiet. It seemed time had stopped and they were the only two left in the world. Ugh how could this be happening. He sat there quietly and twittled with his straw, would she ever say anything?
Time came back into motion and he heard her talking. Listening very closely and intently about how it must have been fate that brought them here. Could it be? Nah it couldn't! Were there sparks? Did she like me? Apparently she was "unattached"... what did this mean? All he could spit was,"Yes it had to be fate..."

Shayla didn't know what to expect, perhaps some declaration of his feelings, perhaps that she would have had enough courage to say what she really mean which was that she truly liked him always had. Seems that one didn't always get what they wanted since none of that seemed to happen. Shayla was left sitting there feeling as if she was a fool. He didn't seem to feel anything for her everything she thought was all in her own mind. Still the little girl making up fantasies. How could she be so foolish, she could have sat down at the bar nursed a drink alone and walked away unscathed. Now it seemed she would be leaving here hurt and angry at herself.
Sipping on her butterbeer she wondered how fast she could down the concoction and be gone, she'd say something about having paperwork to do at the office or something. That wasn't a total lie she did have some paperwork she needed to finish even though it wasn't due for a few days, but an early start never hurt anyone. Then she heard him speak Shay could not help herself and her brown eyes glanced up at him. His handsome featured were thrown into prominence by the sunlight streaming in through the windows. He took her breath away.
"Shayla... have you everwondered whether you like or maybe even love someone, but you can't really tell whether you like them back, butyou believe in fate and all of that? What do youdo?" He said and Shayla made a face like she was confused. She barely understood half of that. Taking a minute she replayed the jumbled mess inside her head trying to differentiate one word from another. After playing it through four or five times she got the gist of what he was saying. Giving him an earnest answer she replied, "I think you stop thinking and start doing Tyson. There's only one way to find out if two people belong together and that's for them to be together."
Again hope flooded through her. Could this hypothetical be about the two of them? Did he have feelings after all? Was he finally about to profess them? Shay was trying not to get her hopes up but it was so hard not to when all she could see was that handsome face. "Fate brought us here maybe it means something Tyson." She was trying to help him along, nudge him in the right direction, her mind yelling say it Tyson say it already.

It was getting darker by the minute. Tyson figured this was the time in romantic movies where the guy in the bar tells the girl you wanna go to my place and they end up getting closer than they meat, but the relationship ends the next day and they never see each other again. He sighed. Ty didn't want Shayla and his relationship to be like that. If she didn't love him, they could at least be best friends or something.
Cursing under his breath at himself, Tyson glanced up at Shayla. She seemed to mesmerized by something. She was so enthralled with something, but thank God it wasn't herself! She didn't care about what she looked like or what people thought about her and that was good enough for him. Ty started beating himself up for saying the things he had. It was terrible that there conversation hadn't gone anywhere, but then he had to let his feelings show. How could he have been so stupid? This made him so angry.
Luckily Shayla had listened intently and stared into his eyes as he spoke. She smiled her lovely heavenly smile where all her teeth and began to speak. "I think you stop thinking and start doing Tyson. There's only one way to find out if two people belong together and that's for them to be together." Wow that was pretty deep. Tyson thought. Maybe she did care about him and this was her way of pushing him into his love thoughts. Nah, he was just getting his hopes.
But then Tyson knew she was serous. She spoke as if she would die if he didn't come to his senses and ask her out. But if they were both intrested in each other and both wanting the other to ask the same question, then could this be considered a date? "Fate brought us here maybe it means something Tyson." This was it he had to ask!
Tyson got serious. His face wasn't showing any emotion. This was it... if he didn't ask he would regret it forever and never let it go and wonder what it would be like if he hadn't. "Shayla..." Ty took a breath and continued,"I have something very serious to ask you..."
