Jennifer Georgia Queens was excited, yes. She was seeing her baby sister for the first time in a long while and she simply couldn’t wait until she saw her, her beautiful kid sister. She was so proud of her that it was almost on the edge of smothering her, and if she could Jen would be with her constantly. The two, although there was a big age difference, got on like a house on fire and even though Jordon was far away from home, she had plenty of places to go when her sister was around.
Jen for some odd reason had been cleaning the flat and the shop from top to bottom. She had even cleaned the spare room for Jordon even though she wouldn’t be staying there, but she had sent for a few of her things from home to be stored in there for her in case she needed it, and clean sheets had been put onto the single bed too if ever she felt like she wanted to be with her sister. Jen always wanted to make sure Jordon knew there was a place for her, typical fussy older sister behaviour.
Even though she had cleaned everywhere, she didn’t go anywhere near Ashton’s room. For one, she didn’t want him thinking she’d been snooping, and two she dare not go there in case he had someone there or was naked or something, heaven knows what that boy got up to, but she sure as hell didn’t want to know.
Things had started to get good again for Jen since the visit from Dan. He had helped her see there was more to life than moping around over some bloke who dropped her when she needed him. She had met a new man called Zach, who unknown to her quite yet she was getting quite fond of, and her business was doing well. Things for her were looking up.
Rushing down the stairs, Jen unlocked the shop door and peered out the window, impatient to see her sister again.

Jordon had woken so early that morning and had been so excited already that she hadn't been able to fall asleep again. It was a very exciting day for her. She was going to visit her sister. It was true that her sister was much older then the young Hufflepuff was but it had never seemed to matter for them. Jordon hoped it never would.
So what had Jordon done until the time came for her to visit her sister, you may ask. Well, the short answer wouldn't do any of it justice. Jordon finished an essay that was due for the following week, she unpacked her trunk, cleaned it, repacked it neatly, read a while thought quickly lost interest in the subject matter as she was by this stage buzzing with anticipation, she bathed, dressed smartly (so much like her sister), put on a little bit of make-up (well, she tried to anyway) and packed a small bag with things she wanted to show her sister.
With one final look at herself in the long mirror, Jordon hurried out of the Burrow, up the stairs and out of the castle, down to Hogsmeade. Jordon couldn't adequately describe in words the pride that she felt for her sister for having such a wonderful life. As far as Jordon was concerned Jennifer Queens had a wonderful job that she loved, lots of friends that loved her, and the best taste in everything. Jordon looked up to her sister tremendously.
By the time Jordon had crossed the lawns she was running. She couldn't wait! The wind swept her dark straight hair back (she'd straightened it just for this occasion) as she ran and she almost felt like she was flying. And into Hogsmeade she whizzed, almost coming to a stop when she noticed how hard she was breathing. She couldn't show up to her sister's panting like a dog! Taking a few deep breaths, Jordon checked herself in the reflection of a window that was to one side of her.
Fixing the hair that was out of place, Jord quickly made her way down the street to the store her sister owned. Just then, Jennifer's head popped into the window and Jord couldn't contain her excitement any longer. She made a funny jump on the spot before running very quickly towards the door, pushing it open and flinging her arms around her sister's neck. "Hiya Jennie," Jord squeeked, unable to keep the dryness of her throat from her voice.
Letting go of her sister after a long hug, Jordon stood back, grinning like a buffoon who'd won something amazing. "You look amazing, sis," Jordon's squeeking voice came again but she didn't care. She was with her sister. Just then, nothing else seemed to matter.

Jen really disliked times like this where you just wanted the minutes to tick by like seconds, but defiantely they seemed to take hours rather than seconds. Impatiently looking from the window and finding something to straighten out in the shop, Jen paced the floor, wearing the deep purple carpet from the window to the door. With a sigh, she gave a look outside once again and held onto the window frames that criss-crossed over the window, her frantic eyes searching for that one familiar face as the streets of Hogsmeade began to fill up with other insignificant faces.
Jen almost missed her, and she kicked herself for looking away at the wrong second, squealing slightly, Jen pulled herself from the window ledge just in time for her sister to fly through the door and catch her in a hug. Ready to burst, Jen hugged her sister tight not wanting to let her go. Still holding onto her elbows, Jen leaned back from the hug to get a look at her sister.
"Pshh, look at you! You look more beautiful every day! I love your shirt by the way! Oh, I have a few surprises for you! Do you want a cup of tea? How's school? Arn't getting into any trouble are you? Of course not you're a Queens and a Hufflepuff how silly of me" she blurted out before she stopped for breath. All the time she was grinning stupidly at her little sister, beaming with pride. Giving her another quick squeeze, she lead her to the counter and flicked the kettle on.
Leaning onto the marble counter, Jen put her head in her hand and continued to grin wildly at her sister. "So...any news for your old yet loving sister?" she asked, aware that she had asked a zillion questions already within the space of a minute and she was probably smothering her sister yet again, but that's what sisters were for right?
It had been a while since Jordon had come to Hogsmeade to see Jen, and although Jen loved being with her she knew how school was important, especially at Jordon's age. Unfortunately for Jen she had gone to Beauxbatons but how she thought about it she wished she had attended Hogwarts instead. Not many people had cool or nice stories from Beauxbatons yet everywhere she turned there were many unusual and fun stories that started from Hogwarts. She felt like she had missed out slightly.

As expected, Jen seemed to be just as happy to see her baby sister as Jordon was happy to see Jen. She was always ecstatic to see her sister and today was no exception. Jennifer might have been a few inches taller then her sister but their mother always teased that one day Jordon would be just as tall if not taller then Jen. The Hufflepuff really felt it now, how much taller she’d gotten, or was it just that Jen was shrinking? No, how silly, of course she wasn’t shrinking!
Jordon laughed embarrassedly. She never knew how to take compliments so she rolled her dark brown eyes to the ceiling and just gave in to the giggles. It frightened her how much she giggled as Jen rambled on about this and that. Jordon couldn’t keep up but the one thing that Jordon’s mind focused on was tea. “I’d love some tea, of course,” Jordon said slightly dumbly, “you know that. Never pass up some tea. Though I haven’t had anything to eat today …” Blinking up at her sister, Jordon pouted slightly, trying ‘the face’ on Jen.
Surprises. The word took a moment or two to sink in but as Jordon followed Jen to the corner she clapped her hands. “I do love your surprises, Jen,” Jordon said, beaming her wide smile. Jordon gasped dramatically for effect. “You? Old? Never!” Jordon felt like she was vivacious and she simply had to play the part. Still grinning, Jordon continued with her story. “Anyway, one of the boys in my house, Kenneth, but everyone calls him Neth-“ she shrugged “-don’t ask me why, well the one day while I was helping him with his Defence Against The Dark Arts paper when he said he had a surprise for me. He opened his bag right in front of my face and out popped a Jack-in-the-Box. Scared me half to death … I fell of my chair,” she admitted softly, “and he and his friends were all laughing.”
Gaining more confidence about the matter, Jordon lifted her head, shaking her straight hair over her shoulders, and stood up straight. “Well, I didn’t help him with his paper and I heard from Lucy’s cousin’s friend’s brother, Dave, that Neth failed that paper.” Jordon crossed her arms … she’d thought that would make her feel better but it didn’t. It just made her feel bad about not helping him when he’d needed it. Hadn’t he apologised over and over again? While laughing, sure, but it had been funny, hadn’t it? Jordon sighed and changed the topic.
“My grades are good though,” she said happily, “one of the best in my class. And Alice says that there’s a Gryffindor that has a crush on me. But he’s a sixth year and I’ve never spoken to him before and I don’t know what to do.” Jord spoke this last bit very quickly. It wasn’t something she was used to speaking about but Jennifer was her sister and she could help, if not make her feel a little less uncomfortable about the whole situation.
Enough from Jordon. “What about you?” Jord asked brightly, smile back on her face as the kettle wistled cheerfully, “have you been doing alright with the shop? And everything?” Jordon wanted to ask about Jen and Rus and how that had all turned out because all Jordon had gotten was an owl that was very vague but Jordon simply could ask out right like that. The fifth year’s dark eyes scanned the room and she spotted something in the rake nearest to them. Quickly trotting to the rake, Jordon took out the fuchsia coloured dress and admired it. “O it’s lovely,” the young girl cooed, then looked back over her shoulder and smiled at Jen, “it’s simply lovely, Jen.”

Upstairs in the flat above the two women's heads, down the hall and on the right, there was a room with a bed, and in this bed lay a sleeping Ashton Laurent. Although since he was currently buried under the covers, all you really saw was a lump. A lump that just so happened to be breathing! Voices floated up from downstairs waking aforementioned boy from his slumber.
Blinking in confusion, Ash looked around. Voices downstairs? Jen must have a visitor, because he clearly remembered her telling him that the shop would be closed so he could sleep in as long as he wanted. Although now that he'd been woken up, he had inevitably gotten up before he wanted to. Ah well..he supposed it was time to get up anyway. No use laying in bed all day.
Sitting up, Ash stretched and yawned. He debated getting dressed but decided it wasn't worth the effort. Instead, he finger-combed the worst of the tangles out of his hair, went and brushed his teeth and stumbled down the stairs in his pajama's. (soft, black cotton pants, and a white t-shirt that said 'Heartbreaker' in red letters)
"Jen?" he called, voice still rough from sleep. Stepping into the shop area, he blinked at the bright light.

Jen wasn’t exactly the tallest person to ever live in Hogsmeade. She was a petite 5’3” and it seemed her little sister had already spurted up to her height, maybe just a little taller. Jen inwardly grumbled at how small she really was and she found herself absently craning her neck to try and be taller than her sister. After all big sisters were meant to be bigger, not smaller.
Jen was happy that Jordon was attending Hogwarts, she knew for a fact that just like herself she wouldn’t like Beauxbatons, and Jen was still sad that she didn’t get the chance to attend Hogwarts. Every person who came from that school that she had ever spoken to had never said a bad word about it, like it was the most perfect school ever. In fact Jen thought it probably was, at least it didn’t have snotty nosed girls and veela’s swarming around like they owned the place. She really didn’t like the people who surrounded her in that school, and if she could turn time back she would certainly be attending Hogwarts instead of the magic school in France.
“I don’t think you’d be a queens if you didn’t like tea, sweetie” she said warmly. Pulling her sister into another quick hug she let her go before rolling her eyes at her sister as she hinted about being hungry. Giving a pretend huff, Jen put her arms on her waist before grinning back at her skinny little sister. “Oh don’t worry I won’t be starving you quite yet, I’m cooking you a big lunch you only have to wait about half an hour” she said as she fussed about the tea, making it by hand and not by magic. She always found that tea tasted better when you made it yourself, she didn’t like the slight aftertaste of whatever it was that was in her tea when it was made by magic. “It’s your favourite” she added as an afterthought.
Listening intently to Jordon as she stirred the tea and simply raised an eyebrow at her sister as she said she wasn’t old. Letting her continue, she smirked when she thought ‘Be careful love or you’ll be wearing this cup on your head’, jokingly of course. Hearing the story of some boy from her school who gave her the typical ‘jack-in-the-box’ trick on her, Jen laughed as her sister continued to tell her that she fell off her chair. “You weren’t wearing a skirt were you? You know what boys are like” she said sticking her tongue out blatantly loving teasing her sister. It was then she heard footsteps on the landing and she knew Ashton was up.
“Glad to hear your grades are good Jord, you know what Dad will be like if you don’t keep up, Lord knows I do” she replied. “Good lord, you have men already? I don’t blame them though you are a catch, but nobody’s good enough for my little sis” she smirked, pushing the tea towards her. “The shops been very good actually, I’m quite proud of how much I sell, I have to make frequent trips back to Paris and Italy to get a lot of material. Of course I don’t have time to do much else, but it’s nice to just enjoy the view while I’m material shopping. If you’re free next time, I’ll take you. I’ll try and make in on a weekend, does that sound like fun?”
Turning her head to see Ash as Jordon admired a fuschia dress, she grinned at her sister before going over to Ash and dragging him over gently to meet her little sister. “Ash, this is my little sister Jordon” she said “I talk about you all the time to him. Oh, he’s my flatmate by the way Jordon, but don’t worry, you still have your little room” she smiled. “That’s part of the surprise anyway, but you can go check it out and all the presents on your bed after dinner”

Jordon wasn't ever certain when to say more or to say less. It wasn't one of her strong points so she tended to babble on a bit just to make sure she'd covered everything that she'd needed to. That's how it felt as Jordon jabbered on, answering Jen's questions and telling her sister about school and all that it implied. She couldn't help herself but from the look on her sister's face, she didn't mind.
Jordon chuckled nervously as Jen mentioned her being a Queens. Jordon had always wondered what exactly it meant to be a Queens but she was too nervous of what her sister or parents would think of her should she ask. So she kept quiet, smiling at her hands till Jen pulled her into another hug. Jordon did love getting hugs from Jennifer and she hugged her sister back before she started talking about food. Half an hour? Jordon groaned inwardly but gave a small smile and nodded. It would have to do, what else could she do?
When Jen said the tea was her favourite, her dark sad eyes widened with surprise and delight as a smile broke over her face. “Peach Medley? Really?” Jordon's face suddenly hung over her tea cup as she breathed in the wondrous steam that was coming from the tea. Sitting up straight again, Jordon sighed heavily, still smiling. The reason she was smiling was because her sister always knew how to cheer her up even when she didn't ask for it. Jordon wasn't one to easily share things but around Jen she didn't feel she needed to make these things so obvious.
Jen laughed at Jordon's story and the Hufflepuff felt rather indignant about it. It wasn't funny, it was mean, and then they laughed as well. Pah! Call themselves gentlemen! Jordon couldn't have thought it could be more ridicules. But when Jen stuck her tongue out Jord got the message so didn't take offence. She rolled her eyes and shook her head, her long dark hair shaking about her face as she did. “It's not funny, Jen,” Jordon stressed and took a sip of her tea to ease her mind.
Dad. “Oy vay,” Jordon groaned. “Don't I just know it.” Though she mumbled it it was said rather loudly. But it didn't matter how strict their dad could be some times, Jord did well and there couldn't be any doubt about it. Jordon had always suspected Jen had had a hard time with Dad when she was younger but Jord never wanted to press buttons so she just ignored it.
And just to really shake things up. “Men!?!” Jordon squeaked, “A man. Singular. And I don't have him anywhere. He hasn't even spoken to me yet ...” but more importantly neither has she. Jordon hadn't exactly put the effort into meeting this mystery sixth year. They didn't linger long though and Jen told Jord about her work and travels. It did sound like fun and Jordon nodded her head, shifting her weight in her seat while leaning on her forearms. She’d never admit to herself that it sounded like more fun then she could possibly imagine but that was the problem.
Trying to get a grip on herself again Jordon moved over to Jen and the man who’d just come down the stairs. Jen called him Ash and Jordon smiled at him, still holding the fuchsia dress in her one hand. She wasn’t sure if she should shake his hand or give him a hug or a kiss on the cheek or what so she stood there, smiling dumbly, one foot nervously rubbing the back of the other leg. Then Jen started talking about rooms and surprises and she relaxed a little. So this was Ashton, Jen’s new roommate. Jordon didn’t know what to think of him so carried on smiling some more. And if that was part of her surprise Jord wondered if she’d really want to know what the rest of it was.
No, that’s not true, she’d always want to know what her surprises are. They’re just too marvellous for words. Clearing her throat, Jordon tried, “it’s lovely meeting you.”

If truth be told, Jennifer Queens loved her little sister more like her own child than a sibling. Jen was such a motherly figure that she found it hard to seperate the mothering instinct with her sisterly one with Jordon. It was this thought that often made her broody and feel as though her arms and her life were empty. It didn't help that every man she was with seemed to up and leave her just when she thought her life and path to having children was nearing. She was 26 and definately not getting any younger.
Jen loved hearing about Jordon and what she'd been up to, probably because of how different it was to Jen's routined days, the same thing happening over and over again every single day with nothing really ever changing from day to day. The odd occasion a new person would roam around Hogsmeade and everyone would peer out their windows at them to see what they were like, and sometimes a new customer would walk in but Jen found that she tended to get the same rounds of customers every so often, and swarms of students around certain events who had plans for dresses and suits to be made.
Jen didn't mind it but sometimes the work loads was barely manageable, but now Ashton was back it had become a little better, even though he only worked the weekends. She had thought of possibly advertising for a new person to help work a day or two a week, and as she stored that note in her head for later, she looked back to her sister with a smile.
"Yup, peach medley...enough of it to make you explode. You can take the rest back to Hogwarts with you, I know how you like your creature comforts" Jen tried to stop her laughter, and succeeded quite well when her sister became sour faced and claimed that what happened to her wasn't funny. Jen just gave a quick nod. "I know Jordon, I know" she replied quickly before her sister ended up throwing the tea on her in a tantrum. Jen still laughed inwardly however.
"Still, A man is still something right? Lucky you, you should find out who he is...I bet he's quite fair haired, oh with blue eyes!" Jen continued to speak, sounding quite dreamy in her voice. She didn't realise of course that she had just pictured Russ as a flash before her eyes, the fair hair and the penetrating blue eyes. She tensed her fists before turning away and closing her eyes for a brief second to rid the thoughts of him from her mind. Now was not the time to thing about him.
Turning back, she noticed Jordon still holding onto the dress and it made her smile that she seemed to like it so much. "Take it" she insisted, walking over to her and slipping it off the hanger in the matter of seconds, pushing Jordon gently towards the changing room urging her to try it on for size. "Ash, are you ready for dinner in about 10 minutes?" she asked, her arms brushing his hair down slightly so it was less bed head. "It's pasta" she continued before walking over to the counter, pulling out a couple of files from underneath and flicking through the top one, all boring figures and statistics of the shop.
"Well? Does it fit?" she called to her sister.

Ash smiled and waved at the girl in front of him. "Hi, I'm Ash. And whatever stories Jen has been telling about me, I sincerely deny." He flashed a quirky grin at Jordon, and playfully stuck his tongue out at Jen. He noticed that Jen seemed to be more motherly than sisterly and shook his head in amusement. Typical Jen.
He waved at Jordon again when she went to go try on the dress. He didn't even need to see it on her to know that it was going to look amazing. Hey, he was gay after all, wasn't he supposed to have impeccable fashion sense?
He smiled at Jen when she straightened his hair. Apparently the mother-hen thing didn't stop with Jordon. He nodded when she asked if he was ready for dinner. "Pasta? Oooh... yummy. Anything else?" he asked eagerly. Just like a boy, always thinking with his stomach!
