With the start of a new year came the chance for new things, new experiences and perhaps a relationship for once. That would be if Alexis even saw him that way. Whether or not she did, Shaun had asked her to meet him at Honeydukes for some sweets and just to spend time together with no homework for once. It'd be a good way to get to know eachother without having to whisper or having Offley breath down your neck every minute.
He was dressed in jeans and a long sleeve shirt to help with the chill caused by the breeze. It wasn't supposed to be this cold but even in fall, these days could not be avoided. Shaun waited patiently outside of Honeydukes for Alexis. There was so much he wanted to tell her, like how he was sorry for not keeping in touch over the summer and how he would've found time to meet up with her as well over the holiday but had to be a camp counselor over the summer because of his father.
As he waited, he tried to go over everything he wanted to say to her, how he would say it, and how she might have reacted to his words. Sometimes you just couldn't help but wonder how others might act. The two hadn't seen each other since the end of the year Ball last term and Shaun was actually getting a little excited. No, they weren't dating... not as of yet and Shaun was hoping with the new year that it might change. Shaun stuck his hands in his pockets and stared down at his shoes. He heard someone approach so he turned his head in their direction and instantly he gave that boyish grin of his.

Back to school time again. She wasn't ready for it not this term. The time home seemed so short. Making the most of it she spent every day with her family. They missed her something awful just as she missed them. They went all over even taking a trip to Paris to visit her mother's relatives. It was beautiful there really romantic which made her think of Shaun. Actually she thought a lot about Shaun over the summer. She had hoped to hear from him but there was nothing. Her sister told her not to worry he was probably busy. This didn't really make her feel any better but Alexis didn't want to ruin the short time they had together so she let it go.
The night before she had to return she spent time crying in her room. She wasn't ready to go back yet nor was she ready to see Shaun. Her sister saw how upset she was and offered to stay in her room with her. The two had such a good time it was hard to believe they were sisters and not best friends. She soon made Alexis feel as if school was most important. So the next day when she had to leave it wasn't so hard.
Getting back and seeing the castleagain had her feeling silly for not wanting to return. This place was also home and she loved it. Settling in took no time at all, nor did it take long for Shaun to contact her. He wanted to see her, have her meet him at Honeydukes. She had waited so long to hear from him that she wasn't sure how she should feel. She read the note over and over again as if it would give her some insight into his mind. It never happened. There was only one thing for her to do and that was go meet him.
She thought long and hard about what to wear. She didn't want to appear as if she'd been trying too hard to impress him nor did she want to look like she didn't care at all about her appearance. There had to be a happy median. Her closet full of clothes seemed empty to her as she threw outfit after outfit onto her bed. Checking the time she knew she had to make a decision or risk being late Alexis didn't want him to think she'd stood him up. So she finally decided on a pair of jeans, a nice blue v-neck sweater that really brought out the color of her eyes. A pair of all white sneakers adorned her feet. Deciding to leave her light brown hair down she put on some lip gloss and headed out.
It wasn't quite cold but it was very breezy out. The sweater had been a good idea. Moving at a brisk pace she didn't really take in the sights on the way to the village as she normally would have. Her mind on Shaun and what had happened that summer. Alexis wondered if he had met someone else or something. Maybe that's what he wanted to talk to her about. Well if that was it she'd have to be strong and act like it didn't bug her.
In no time at all she was walking into Hogsmeade Hondeydukes soon in her line of vision as was the boy standing outside. Shaun still as handsome as she remembered. Boy if he met someone else she didn't think she could pretend it didn't bug her.
Reaching him her cheeks slightly red from the walk she moved to his ear and whispered "I hope you're waiting for me" then unable to help it she kissed him on the cheek.

Shaun stood up straighter as Alexis neared him, his eyes scanning her. She looked amazing, just as he remembered her from last year. He knew he should have let her know that he would be busy over the summer, but it didn't help that his father gave him a day's notice before he was sent off. He had actually written a letter for Alexis while at Camp, but it was a muggle camp and therefor he couldn't bring his family's owl along. Sure, he could have sent it with the post man, but he didn't know where she'd be.
Alexis came up to him and whispered in his ear and as a reaction, his arm went around her waist and his hand rested on the small of her back. When she kissed his cheek, his face flushed a rosy pink and he was almost speechless; well he would be if Shaun could ever be speechless. "Well, hello to you too, Miss Heart," he said before he brought his hand back to his own body. What he had rehearsed in front of the mirror now was a complete blank. What he had practiced over and over had gone. All he could do was stare at her with a rather cheeky grin.
Finally, after a few moments of silence, he brought his hand to the back of his head and gave an embarrassed laugh. "I'm sorry," he said first, "I meant to write to you over the summer, I really did, but I didn't have time. My dad signed me up to be a counselor at a muggle camp over the summer." Alright, so he found the words he was looking for, but they came out rushed as if he only had a minute to get it all out.
Finally, once it was all out, he took a deep breath and grabbed her hand gently, "Truth is, I missed you," he said with a warm smile. See, now if they were together, he would've kissed her or given her flowers of sorts but Shaun never got the chance to ask her out nor did he even know what she thought of him. The simple kiss on the cheek should have been enough for him, but he was a guy and therefor pretty stupid when it came to the opposite sex. Instead of flowers, instead of presents, he figured he'd bring her here, to Honeydukes and make it up by buying her chocolate or some sort of candy to say he was sorry for not writing to her.
[[sorry that its not very long...]]

It would be so easy to be mad at him, so easy to let the summer fuel her ire but it wasn't worth it. Not when he looked so delectable she was having trouble concentrating. Plus the moment he put his arm around her waist she basically forgot her own name. Her head bent down and she glanced at his arm wrapped almost a little possessively around her and she knew then that she really liked this boy.
When he dropped his hand she felt a sudden pang of disappointment. For that moment in time she was his but now...She didn't know what she was feeling now.
Giving her a hello Alexis merely smiled. None of this had so far explained why she hadn't heard from him until now. His reaction at seeing her led her to believe he had no one else, but if it wasn't another someone what was it that kept him from reaching her. She had given him her address told him she would be home most of the summer. Perhaps she shouldn't be getting upset it's not as if they were a couple or anything.
Suddenly he busted out the explanation it came out rather fast as if he'd had time to practice it. So he was at a summer camp all summer. That explained a lot. A muggle camp wouldn't have the amenities a young wizard was accustomed to. Suddenly she felt better than she had in days especially when he told her that he missed her.
"I missed you too Shaun, thought about you all summer. I was upset I hadn't heard from you but now that I know what happened well I'm sorry I doubted you. I'm just happy you wanted to see me because I really wanted to see you." Again she kissed his cheek, being so bold wasn't like her but then she had never liked a boy this much before. She wanted him to be her boyfriend. but had no idea how she was supposed to ask him that. Maybe a lot of chocolate would loosen her tongue.

It was hard to act like her friend because Shaun had realized over the summer that he wanted to be more than a friend to Alexis. Because of this fact, he tried to keep his hands to himself to the best of his ability, but he couldn't help but feel a rush of adrenaline every time his hand brushed against hers. He was hoping that she wouldn't find his explanation inexcusable because he didn't want it to seem like he didn't care about her at all, in fact, he did probably more than he should. He was glad, more like relieved when she had said that she missed him too and had even thought about him over the summer. He was a bit stunned though when she had kissed him on the cheek a second time.
He stared at her for a moment, unsure of what to do, how to respond so he gave her his usual boyish grin that reached to his eyes. Shaun reached for her hand and entwined her fingers in his own and pulled her close so their faces were inches apart, "Of course I wanted to see you. It's kinda hard to go through a whole summer without even a glimpse of you," he said, his eyes gazing into hers. He smiled playfully before pulling himself out of her gaze so they weren't standing so close anymore.
He stared at her for a moment, trying to analyze her reaction but found it harder than he had guessed. His hand was still entwined with hers so he tugged it gently before motioning to the shop with his head. "Right, I brought you here for a reason, Miss Heart. I'll make up this summer to you, I promise. You can get whatever you like," he said gently tugging her along til they were in front of the door. With much ease, he pulled the door opened and let go of Alexis' hand so she could make it inside.

These kinds of things certainly weren't her forte. Boys for her were just those people she had classes with, the ones that made funny jokes, or annoying noises. They weren't usually the ones that made her stomach do flip flops or that made her cheeks turn a deep rosy color. But here she was standing out in the open in Hogsmeade and she was feeling all of those things. Shaun had no idea the effect he had on her and for that she was grateful. Maybe she liked him a little more than he liked her and she'd look silly making a big fuss.
Her sister advised her to play it cool and so far she had succeeded in doing so. The cool facade started to crack after a few moments because after they kissed he hadn't really said much of anything. She had come on too strong, she should have just smiled or giggled or something. Oh no, she felt herself loosing control. When that happened she had trouble controlling her powers. Then he smiled at her this adorable smile and she was alright again.
Too bad that only lasted about a second.he grabbed her hand placing it in his. He moved closer to her so that they were merely inches apart, and then he said the sweetest words she had ever heard before. That's when it happened she had lost her control. He started at her a moment longer she lost herself in his eyes, then he started saying something but she couldn't really hear him. He tugged her along but her last bit of control slipped and began to change her eyes turned a much darker shade of blue so dark they were an almost unnatural color. Her hair once brown turned a vivid shade of red, as did her cheeks. She was still getting used to her powers but sometimes when she lost control or felt a wave of strong emotions she was unable to stop it. She didn't want him to think her weird some students did. She bit her bottom lip just waiting for him to see the change in her.

The inside of Honeydukes looked very welcoming and he knew that if Alexis didn’t get anything, he definitely would. He turned himself back to Alexis to see why she hadn’t entered the shop yet but he wasn’t facing her. He was facing a ginger girl with dark blue eyes. He wasn’t sure what to make of it. She had the same build as Alexis and the same freckle patterns across her face but it didn’t look like her, or not exactly. He looked down at his hand that was laced with the ginger girl’s. It had to be Alexis. Shaun was pretty sure that he would’ve been able to notice if Alexis took her hand out of his. Was there something that Alexis wasn’t telling him?
He wasn’t sure exactly how to respond to this, in fact, he had no clue what to do. It was Alexis; it had to be so he decided to brush it off with a joke. Besides, he could see the embarrassment in her rosy cheeks. ”You know, I’m not one to like red heads, but I can definitely work with it in this case,” he said pulling her closer to him. ”Come on, Ginger. We’ve got chocolate calling our names, beckoning us to their sugary goodness.” He grinned and pressed his lips against her forehead. Today was definitely a day that Shaun wouldn’t forget. It was probably the only day he literally made a girl go red.
Alexis just stood there and it made Shaun feel like he’d done something wrong. He placed his fingers under her chin and lifted her head so she was looking at him, ”You alright, Alexis? If you don’t want to go in, we don’t have to. We can stand out here or go somewhere else if it will make you feel better,” he told her. He didn’t want her to be uncomfortable around him so he was giving her as many options that he could think about. ”Or we can go in, and you can let me buy you chocolates,” he said with a huge grin.

Her power was totally out of her control now and she was stunned, embarrassed, and mortified. According to her parents it happened a lot when she was younger but that was because she didn't know how to control it. As she got older she did a bang up job almost never loosing control the way she did. That boy did that to her, he made her loose it. Alexis had no idea what she was supposed to make of that. Shaun was all she thought about over the summer she kept saying when she saw him next she'd be cool aloof this was anything but cool and aloof. She morphed and now couldn't move. When he finally stopped after noticing there was no one behind him Alexis held her breath wondering what he would do when he saw the new red-headed girl standing in her place.
First he looked around as if looking for the brunette he had just been speaking to. Alexis couldn't find it in her to speak and tell him that it was her. Then it hit him. What would his reaction be she wondered. Waiting with bated breath she never took her eyes off him now waiting for some sign that she had suddenly freaked him out. Alexis hadn't morphed in front of anyone since she had been at Hogwarts then she does it while with Shaun out in the streets of Hogsmeade.
Oddly his reaction took her off guard. He complimented her, kissed her forehead and made her feel less freak like special even. Could this be real? Heck could he be real? Boys weren't normally this understanding he was one in a million. Alexis couldn't help but smile at him he was just wow...
slowly but surely the red started to fade from her hair, her blue eyes returned to their normal shade and Alexis was Alexis once more. "Shaun there really isn't any place else I want to be except here with you. The fact that you're buying me goodies has almost nothing to do with it," she teased feeling much more at ease. Somehow she would get this boy girl thing down she wouldn't freak and morph every time he made her feel something strong. Entering the shop she was completely back to normal and itching for some chocolates. "So many sweets whatever shall I get? Any ideas" she asked looking around happily.

Ugh, what was that word he was thinking of? There was a name for what he thought Alexis was. Meta. Meta something. While Alexis got herself together, Shaun continued to think about what she could possibly be. He watched as her eyes became the bright blue that they normally were and the red began to fade back to her natural dark brown hair. Finally it struck him; Alexis was a metamorphagus. It was a special talent and he didn't understand why she would be embarrassed over it but at least he could try and make her realize that it was a gift.
Shaun flashed his boyish grin when she stated that she wouldn't want to be anywhere but here with him. "Well as long as you don't run away from me screaming, then I'm happy," he said in response. "But I'm still buying you sweets; my gift to you."
Shaun walked in behind Alexis and went off in his own direction browsing around. Honeydukes had pretty much anything you could want. He grabbed a few candy bars for himself then headed back by Alexis. He stood behind her and looked over her shoulder. "Whatever you want. Anything you want. Everything you want," he said with a laugh before wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder.
"Alexis, I've been thinking about something all summer and there's something I wanted to ask you," he said as he let go of her waist and moved so he was standing next to her. He wasn't sure how to go about asking her out exactly. With Alice, it just sort of happened, neither of them asked the other. One day they were just, together. It was the same when the two broke up, Alice and him just.. weren't Alice and Shaun anymore. He really liked Alexis, there was no question about that, he just hoped she wouldn't turn him down. That would be a big ego killer.

Things were going really well after her initial freak out. Shaun handled her changing like a pro. There weren't a lot of people who could do that. The one time she lost control others noticed they spent hours hounding her into turning into this or tuning into that. She was so highly frustrated that she actually snapped at some people which was totally out of character for her. That was why she feared Shaun's reaction last thing she needed was for him to want to treat her like some side show freak. Step right up and see the amazing face changing girl, any face any time just step right up. The thought made her shiver.
Time to get her mind off things, they were having a good time and she wasn't going to mess that up by worrying about her power. "Run away from you" she stared at giving him a mildly shock face though she was joking "I would not run away from you unless you tried to get me to eat a cockroach cluster or something like that." Turning back to her perusing she wondered what goodies she could get.
Shaun was on another side looking for his own goodies. Alexis was standing in front of a stand with huge lollipops, that was next to a bin with chocolate frogs. They both looked good to her. She was so immersed in trying to decide that she hadn't noticed Shaun return to her side. It was when she felt his arms wrap around her waist that she jumped. All of this affection was so new to her. Not that she didn't like it she just didn't know how to respond to it. Her knowledge when it came to boys was pretty much non-existent. All she could hope for was he didn't get offended by her reaction.
He didn't seem to have noticed since he went right on talking telling her there was something he wanted to ask. He removed his arms from around her waist and stood beside her. There was only one thing she truly wanted him to ask her one thing she had been hoping he would ask her. Her head turned to his "ok sure ask away." Oh yes ask away she thought.
