Arabella set her glass down on the table, "Yeah, I'm confused. When you apologized I thought that was the reason you asked me to come here, but it seems there's more now," she said with a small laugh. Arabella listened to him speak but the more he said, the more confusing it made her. Who told him what? Was it something about her? All these questions were now running through her mind and he wasn't answering them. In fact, he pretty much stopped in midsentence.
Ari took a deep breath and looked Mark in the eyes, "Mark, would you please just say it? I'm a big girl, I can handle it," she said, assuming the worst.

"Well yeah there is" he told her truthfully, "The thing is, im not good at saying what it is im trying to say." He took a deep glug of his butterbeer. He didnt understand why he was so tongue tied at the minute, this wasnt like him. He was usually dead boisterous and not caring about what he said or how he worded it. "I was speaking to your sister, Bry?" He told her, "It just kind of came up in our conversation, she said i should tell you. I think house on the corner and lots of cats popped up in it somewhere too, im not sure" he laughed.
He looked back at Ari, and smiled, "I'm trying thats the thing. Im using so many words to say something that three would say easily. Its just my mouth wont say them" he looked at her and laughed again, "Dont worry its not 'i love you'... More like... I like you" There, he told her. Wasnt really that hard was it? "But im not sure about anything else"

Arabella glanced at Mark with a horrified look as if he was gonna tell her he hated her and never wanted to see her. Then he mentioned her sister and Ari raised an eyebrow. Once he finished his confession she just sort of stared at him. She shook her head trying to figure out what had just happened, "Wait," she said raising a hand, "what?" she said with a sort of laugh. "If that's all you had to say, then why didn't you just tell me?" she asked still confused.
Was he playing mind games now? Ari couldn't figure him out. For some reason, her empathy wasn't working. Was he telling the truth or just pulling more teeth.
Ari ran a shaky hand through her golden locks and looked at him, "Not sure about what, exactly?" she asked, still not getting it.

Mark shrugged, now it had been said the worst thing that could happen would be, Ari telling him his confession was in vain because it didnt matter to her anymore, knowing him, she was likely to have found someone else and Mark would be left sitting here like an idiot. "I dont know!" he laughed looking at her "It was easier than i thought it would be too"
Mark didnt know what else to say for a moment when she asked him another question. "Not sure as in relationship, not that you want one with me or anything, i wasnt saying that. Its just im not good with them and i usually mess them up"

Ari laughed, "Well, you never know til you try!" she said with a grin, "Though, like you said, it's not like I want one with you or anything" she said quoting him, trying to be serious. Ari took a sip of her butterbeer and smiled at Mark. She winked at him to let him know she was just kidding about her statement.
"You know, you're not that bad. You're actually a pretty nice guy," she said setting the cup back down on the table. Arabella put her elbow on the table and layed her chin on her hand, "What did my sister have to say?" she said with a smile.

Mark half laughed half gulped at the same time. He didnt quite know what he was doing, least of all where this was going to end up. He had his, plus a million other things on his mind and he was sure they were going to give him frown lines. "Well, exactly." He said, completley missing her wink.
He missed the way he used to be, when he didnt worry about anything, when he didnt worry about what people thought of him. He looked at Ari and realised something. Standing up he looked down at her, "Im sorry... I cant do this" He gave her a quick kiss before turning and leaving. He just couldnt go through with it, it felt right but at the same time it felt wrong.

Ari's eyes went wide, "Wait, Mark," she called after him trying to grab his arm, but he was out of arms reach. "What can't you do?" she yelled. It was too late, he was already gone.
Arabella sat back down, "What did I do?" she asked herself as she covered her saddened face with her hands. Oh, no, she thought.
