Hayley had suffered from insomnia for the past week now. She would leave the dormitory every evening at Midnight, with her wand and book at hand. It hadn’t been long since Hayley arrived at her school once again. It wasn't any different but she had become more drawn to be by herself then be social.
Today was one of those evenings where she wished she didn’t have to be stuck up in her dorm trying to be as quiet as possible so she snuck out. Hayley narrowed her blue eyes trying to see clearly through the darkness, every one was snoring in the dorm. She pulled her wavy, long dark hair up in a ponytail, and pulled a black hoodie over her. She grabbed her wand and a book and stuffed them inside her hoodie’s pockets and quietly left the dormitory. Before heading down the stairs she listened for any voices in the common room but the only sound was a small tapping sound. She tip toed down the stairs and looked over at where the sound was coming from; it was just an owl tapping on the window trying to get in. She opened the window, letting in a chilly gush of wind followed by a pretty barn owl. The owl swooped down to Hayley’s shoulder and nibbled her ear in thanks. Hayley smiled thinking of her cat Robyn who was resting back in the dorm and exited the common room leaving the owl to rest near the fireplace.
She didn’t have to worry about any of the teacher’s seeing her because she knew many shortcuts, the only person she had to worry about was Filch. She basically had a huge “criminal” record in his office, always causing trouble for such clumsiness and thoughtless behavior. She skipped down the stairs avoiding any trick stairs and left the entrance hall through the oak doors. She hurried to the forest, feeling a slight pain in her chest, a usual sign something was going to happen. As she went deeper through the forest, a tree root got in her way and she fell forward onto the ground, spraining her ankle. She cursed, now there was something to worry about. She winced, limping to a nearby tree and settling herself under it. She groaned slightly, taking off as much weight as possible from her right ankle, it was now getting swollen. At the moment she wished she had not forgotten the spell to help her poor ankle. Hayley listened, someone was walking towards her, and she could hear the heavy footsteps. She pulled out her wand ready for anything that attacked but all she could see from where she was a slight shadow. She waited patiently for what would appear.
