It had been a while since Aidan and Derryl had been able to venture out side. They had been confined to their common room by workloads and a worry that that ruddy ghost would get them again. It had not been a pretty thing, when that ghost had jumped them with all those keys and fruit, in fact it had been pretty painful, giving Derryl a knob on the head and Aidan got a rather nasty cut on his forearm of his wand arm.
It wasn’t that the twins were hiding, oh by no means, they were just flooded with all this work and didn’t get much of a chance to go out, that’s all.
Well, anyway, the twins were out of the castle now and they were enjoying the sunshine … well as much of it as they could get. The sky was littered with clouds so the sun only occasionally stuck through the cover and when it did the twins enjoyed it as much as they could.
Derryl had thought to bring a blanket but it was Aidan who had pointed out that they didn’t have one that wasn’t on their beds and they didn’t want to take any of those out so they had found someone else’s, they weren’t using it and they would give it back. Only sensible to use things to their fullest and Aidan did argue that whosever it was wouldn’t miss it until they got back and would probably have leant it to them in any case. So they had their blanket, which they charmed it till so that it was very big, more then big enough for the two twins to be able to lie on it without touching each other.
'Do you really think she would?' Derryl asked, looking down at his brother.
The twins were lying side by side, though head to foot. When Aidan swiveled his head around to look at his brother all he saw was dirty shoes and white ankles. He laughed to himself before looking down at his brother.
'Yeah, course, Der,' Aidan said confidently, giving his brother a playful grin. Aidan knew how much Derryl … well, he hated thinking about it because girls were still icky to him but Aidan knew that Derryl had always been that little bit wiser then he.
'But she's just …' Derryl didn’t have the words to convey what he thought so just sighed and looked up at the sky again. 'Have you ever…?'
'No!'
'Well, you should think about it?'
'Why?'
'Well …' Derryl didn’t know why so didn’t say anything else.
'Yeah, I thought not,' Aidan blundered and threw himself down again. 'All this stupidity for a girl!'
