Dax looked out over the tranquil lake as the first rays of light broke over the horizon signalling the start of a new day. It was a shame really he was going to see so little of it seeing as he had been up all night long. He knew he had best head back to the hut and get a bit of shut eye before the hordes of students swarmed onto the banks of the lake like a pelage of locus and started to create so much noise it would wake a sleeping deaf dragon. The problem was that as the Grounds man stood there in the morning sun he had no urge to move or get any sleep for that fact when he could be watching the birds in the sky as they welcome the morning.
Over the years Dax had learnt a lot about himself and nature, when he took the job the ex-Hufflepuff would jump at the most simplest of noises, a fly just had to go near him and he would panic in fear of it biting him. Now however he had spent so many nights in the forest caring for its many creatures that it would take a lot more to scare him now…that was something he was proud of.
Before he knew what he was going Dax was sitting on the grassy slopes that led to the lake, just watching the water ripple in the wind. The simple life, that is what Dax liked and that is what he had, shame it the tranquillity did not last all that long as already the grounds man could hear shouts from the castle as the students started to wake up.
