As the sunset hovered of the lakes water, creating a spectrum of colours to ripple on it a reflection of what was above, Ali sat quite content solitary on the lawns simply hugging her knees close to her chest as she looked over at the mountains. They had a slight grey tint surrounding them, the semi opaque mist high above the ground and creating a sort of cloud nearer the peak. It was simply beautiful, and she smiled to herself at the sight she was lucky enough to behold. The last time she had come out here before the end of the term, Narcissus had stolen her diary and just been an utter nuisance as usual. Her dreamy smile soon fell to the wayside and a frown found it's way upon her face instead, crinkling her brown.
She reflected on the day she had. She was glad it was friday and she had only two lessons that day, Potions and Divination. Apparantely Professor Vaid and Professor Edgecombe were now dating and she was happy for them. It seemed a nice gesture to happen amongst the slightly strange and odd things that had been happening recently in the castle. She herself hadn't experience anything odd yet, but she a couple of stories had reached her ears, mainly about paintings behaving rather obscurely or the armoured suits moving about on their own and refusing entry to certain doorwars or corridors. That was just gossip however, and Ali wasn't sure what to believe, but why would they lie?
She was glad she had finished her homework and as soon as she had she had rushed out for some fresh air and to begin enjoying the weekend. Tommorow she was to go to Hogsmeade with her brother and sister twin twosome and buy supplies, not to mention gifts for their mother for her upcoming birthday. Ali had been pestering Brooke to cough up some galleons and come shopping for weeks but as usual, she wanted to leave it until the last minute. She thought about her brother Bryn, the new Gryffindor prefect and remembered the gifts he had bought her when she made the quidditch team, how proud he was. It was time for her to return the favour and show her appreciation for him. She would but him something nice tommorow, even if it was small.
Leaning back on her hands feeling the grass rustle between her fingers, she stretched her legs out forward, pointing her toes as much as possible giving a rather large yawn. It made her ears pop. She sat and heard a faint rustle come from the forest. Looking over, she narrowed her vision but saw nothing. Shrugging inwardly, she looked back to see a familiar face staring back at her.

This had to be one of Bryn's favourite times of the year, and spending it in Scotland was, well he would say simply amazing. The sunset didnt look as good at this time of year in Wales and he never got to fully appreciate its beauty there, unfortunatly, he was stuck trying to memorise everything a prefect needed to know so even though he wanted to, the Sunset would have to wait. Though he seriously doubted the sunset just pausing its everyday descent just to wait for one lad who wanted to watch it. Even though he was at the tallest tower, gazing out of the window, he couldnt fully appreciate how the sunset looked from the confines of the Dorm. It took Bryn about ten minutes, gazes from parchment to window, and a good few arguments in his mind to finally make him put the parchment back under his bed, where everything else was shoved, grab his jacket and head out.
Even the grounds looked better under the light cast from the sunset, a slight orange glow hit the castle walls, reflecting off them and casting a beautiful glow everywhere the light was able to touch. It was breezy outside, but nothing that would need serious cover up unless you were a wimp and couldnt handle a slight chill in the air. He didnt walk fast, instead he more strolled, enjoying the freedom since he had the last two lessons free, he was in no rush, and even if he was, prefect or not, he couldnt go inside and sit through classes while the grounds looked this good. Bryn enjoyed nature, but he didnt go overboard with it and many people, unless they were close to him, didnt even know he liked it and when they found out, they often found it strange as it didnt seem to fit anywhere in his personality. Unlike Brooke, Bryn enjoyed things like the countryside, going for long walks just as the sun was rising, or setting, enjoying the outdoors and the nature. On holiday, Brooke would much prefer to stay inside, laze by the pool or a lake, rather than go on walks with their Mother, himself and Ali. It was probably the only difference between the twins, well, the only one Bryn could think of off the top of his head anyway.
Taking a detour, he decided to take the scenic route. Ducking behind some bushes, he found himself in the boarders of the forest as he looked to the sky. Even the forest looked somewhat nice in this light. The orange glow cast by the sunset broke through the tops of the trees and made the place seem just that little bit more friendly, if you didnt know what the forest held, you would wonder why, in times like this, the place was forbidden to students. Bryn wasnt in too deep and even if he was caught he'd make up some lame excuse about Student Hunting or something.
After a short walk in the trees, Bryn came out and began to walk down the hill towards the small cluster of trees which blocked the lake from the school itself. He could already hear the sounds which were all too familiar to him. Bryn often came here in this time of year because it was the best place to get a view of the sunset from. Summer was best for the moonlight and starry skies at night, but this was the best time for the sunset, Bryn's favourite thing. Though as he broke through the trees edge, his eyes fell upon a form which too, was familiar. His younger sister, Ali. A broad grin cut through his face as he realised she was looking the opposite direction, away from him and towards the forbidden forest.
It was easy for him, Ali was an easy person to sneak up on when she was as relaxed as she is now. Quickly, but quietly, Bryn made his way over to her, standing infront of her but standing on an angle which kept his shadow from reflecting on her. When she finally turned to look at him, he didnt quite know the expression on her face, something similar to shock and happiness. Another grin filled his face as he stood over her, and in a very bizzarre ohmygodimthrilled kind of voice, Bryn spoke, "Hi!" Then proceeded to move his person from her line of view and take a seat on the ground beside her, his arms slightly behind him and pressed palm first to the floor, his eyes watching the sunset as it slowly sank over the tops of the moutains, if thats what you want to call them, casting even more of an orange glow around them, though mixed in with it now was red and yellow. His eyes went to the lake's surface and watched as the colours blended together, and the ripples making it look as though they were dancing. "Nobody's stole your diary again, yet? Have they?" Bryn asked her, his eyes narrowed. He remembered Ali telling him that over the summer, and like usual, Bryn got all fired up even though Ali told him to cool it and she managed to get it back.

It was rather pathetic that Haleigh was such a gullible girl. From the very start of the rumors about paintings acting a little more real than usually and suits of armor drawing their swords at random, she'd been nearly in a state of panic. In her mind, nothing seemed as bad as being assaulted in school by something that most wouldn't even classify as alive. It was a creepy thought that something like your bed curtains could turn around and attack you at random.
For the most part, Haleigh had taken to moving around a bit more than usual, as if her sitting there for a bit might tempt the books in the library to chuck themselves at her head. So far today she'd been to every one of her old haunts and felt as if she were a nomad. Library, Divination, COMC, Muggle studies, common room, and library again. By now, she was in need of some fresh air and there was little time left in the day to get that done before the prefects were on her tail about not being in the common room, though she did suspect that the Ravenclaw ones didn't give much of a damn for their duties. Which, knowing the rumors about the two, was probably a truth.
Haleigh stepped shyly outside and her hands went instinctively to warm her arms at the chill of the breeze as her eyes drifted across the lawns for any familiar faces. From here, there weren't any that she could see and she just made her way lackadaisically towards the lake only to overhear a conversation about someone stealing a diary. Hm, somehow that sounded familiar like a story she'd been told earlier.
Wait, that was because she had heard it. From the Kennedy bunch sometime ago that she couldn't exactly pinpoint. Typical rowdy siblings were all worked up about it, must be the Gryffindor in their blood for them not to realize how silly it was to be upset about someone stealing a book. Haleigh's brows pinched together confusedly as she recognized the voice as Bryn's, meaning the terrible duo was probably there. She felt a little happy and a little worried at the same time. The Kennedys were friends but she did have a huge fear of them, and not exactly for no reason, either.
Taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly through her nose, Haleigh decided to go see what was going on and made her way around the little bunch of trees where she found one bit of the bunch apparently watching the sunset together. Aw, cute. "Is it safe to assume that you're up to no good?" She asked, actually speaking first for once. That was an odd thing about the Kennedy clan, they actually made her talk. Probably because she still had a fear in the back of her mind that Bryn and Brooke might pull her pigtails again if she didn't.
Then, feeling like she was quite a third-wheel, she stood there with an awkward frown on her face for a good few moments before she decided to take up the spot next to Ali.
