"AMARANTA!!" Calantha yelled as she watched the little girl run down the corridor after a ghost. The blonde girl stopped and smiled at her mother. Her mother instantly melted. Calantha held out her hand and the little girl ran to her and held it tight.
"Now, There have been some strange reports on the castle." Calantha said to her child, even though the little girl was completely ignoring her. She was seven after all, she had other interests other then following around her mother. However, Amaranta always wondered about Hogwarts, so she was happy to be there with her mother.
Calantha nodded to a Slytherin whose father she had recently accused of broom laundering. The student sneered at her, Calantha smiled. Now, back to the task at hand. She had been sent by her superiors after small whisperings of dark magic had left the castle walls. Calantha was very interested in what was happening, and if she ended up taking down the headmaster with her story, so be it.
The reporter had never met the new headmaster, but she remembered reading a rather badly written article about him in her own paper, The Daily Prophet. It held way to much truth for Calantha's taste. She remembered think that she would have thrown in that he was half troll or something just for spice.
The tall blonde and the little blonde walked around the corridors toward the headmaster's office. Calantha thought she would surprise him. However, she decided to take the long way and see what she could dig up.

"Shut your bloody trap you,,,you stupid painting." Anyone in the halls would have heard Ginny Weasley yelling, Half the castle would probably have heard her yell. The school was becoming a tiresome place to be. People were forced to stay in their dorm rooms because they were the safest places to be, if you did have to venture out into the corridors well then you were fair game weren't you. Ginny was a seventh year and in all her time at school nothing the likes of this had ever taken place before. Nothing was being done about it either. The headmaster was proving to be a bit useless and she hated to say that because she liked Daniel Hubbles. He was nice but didn't seem good at taking charge of things.
The painting she had just screamed at made a rude gesture in her direction, making Ginny's eyes roll. "Oh please like I haven't seen that one before." The painting not wanting to be out done yelled back at her threatening to get her in her sleep. A year ago Ginny wouldn't have taken that threat seriously but now...you had to. Rumor had it a few nights ago some students were almost mowed down by a painting,
Great now she had to watch her back from a rogue painting that she pissed off. Things just kept getting better and better. Man she wished Jac was here, her close friend would have known just what to say to make this whole situation less weird for her. All she had to do was get away from the painting. Ginny walked down the hall at full speed. The girl in the painting didn't seem to mind her leaving because she jumped from painting to painting following her yelling obscenities.
As she rounded the corner she almost smacked right into someone walking her way. The lady was a blonde woman she had never seen before and with her was a little blonde girl. The two looked out of place here in the castle. "Sorry about that" Ginny apologized, and while she had stopped her friend from before had caught up to her. "You lousy little good for nothing Gryffindor when I'm through with you I'll make you wish someone had killed you long ago." Ginny's face flamed. "Oh for goodness sakes you've got to be joking. Just leave me alone your threats mean nothing." The girl in the painting laughed a mirthless laugh and seemed like she was contemplating something. Ginny looked at the lady in the hall "You know what I think we should get out of here, Where were you headed?" It had to be safer then this place.

Kay heard yelling from around the corner, and as the yelling came into view, Kay stood and watched the action. A rather red-headed girl was having a bout with a painting. Kay couldn't really remember ever have a serious conversation with a painting at Hogwarts, but she did remember they always had the best gossip if you listened closely.
Kay stood, watching and listening, until a couple seconds later, and a couple murder threats later, the girl spotted Calantha and Amaranta. Kay wasn't really sure what to say, perhaps there was a story here. Calantha smiled at the girl, sweetly. She had just witnessed a rather rough fighting match. Kay could see it now:
GIRL AT HOGWARTS THREATENS INNOCENT PAINTING: mental health questioned.
It would be perfect, now she just needed the dirt on the girl. "Sounds good, actually I would love your help dear, I was looking for the Headmaster's office." Kay said with a sickening, but believable smile. She grasped Amaranta's hand to seem as innocent as possible. She didn't dare take out her note and quill, it would give her away.
The small group walked away from the painting. Kay smiled at the girl. The red hair was striking, Kay recognized her as belonging to an old wizard family. She smiled. "I'm Kay Caleb and this is Amaranta." Kay pulled her daughter along. The girl was losing interest fast. She could see the sun outside and wanted to go run around, however, she was trapped in her mother's grip. "What is your name dear?" Kay asked sweetly, and then adding: "Do you argue with paintings often?" She said, adding a smile to cover up anything fishy.
