Potions. What was to like? The fumes gave him a headache, he didnt really care for potion making, and the teacher was an ass to him. He had come in the lesson five minutes late with Rosalie and who had gotten the detention? Yeah, Dante had. Not Rosalie, she had smiled sweetly and gotten away with it, as usual. Vaid just didnt like Dante, and the feeling was completley mutual. He had been in such a mood, he had purposly not handed in his homework, saying he threw it in the fire cause he didnt like potions. Which obviously, had not made Will like him any more. Saturday, two o'clock, in his office, detention. Fan-bloody-tastic. Didnt will know he had plans then?
Once the lesson was over, Dante wasted no time in jumping out of his seat and hurrying out. Waiting for Rosalie beside the door, she was talking to Will about something, probably the homework, but Dante didnt care and he wasnt staying in that room any second longer than he had to. "Hey, Rosalie wait up!" He called when he saw his dark haired friend and ran to catch up to her. The week had been going alright up until now, he had met a new girl, Paige, who was quite attractive and seemed to be a laugh to be around, and he had spent all day yesterday with Alice, just the two of them, quality time together and, shock horror, they actually had a conversation. As strange as that was. "So, Im thinking of dropping Potions as soon as I can." Despite the fact he needed to study it, it didnt matter, Will would fail him anyway, "Not that I need to think about that yet and stuff but whatever, hey! Alice pricked me yesteday with a pin!" He told her, rubbing his side, "You know that purple shirt I have, the one she hates? She decided it was too long and tried tacking it, though she was obviously trying to tack me to it too and then she gave me one of Zinns shirts to wear! Ugh! From the ex-boyfriend pile and especially his, I dont think so." He walked alongside his best friend, who after five years, had gotten used to Dante's ramblings by now.
"Also," He added as the two of them walked and exited the Dungeons and headed down the corridors, "I met a new girl the other day, I know I know." Dante waved his hand, "I didnt tell you dont go all pms chick on me." He grinned and ducked out of the way of a slap he knew would be coming, "Her name's Paige," He furrowed his brow, "Matthews I think. She's quite a looker too and quite funny. Reminds me a bit of the Kennedy girl, Brooke. Just a lot less intense, rekon Bryn's still out to get me for that one?" He asked with a smirk, seriously, older brother syndrome, Dante was thankful he didnt have to think along those lines. Why did he get the feeling he was doing all the talking? Half the list in his head now had ticks on them, there was one space for Ali Kennedy, but Dante didnt really have a deathwish. Bryn had hunted Dante relentlessly for weeks after the episode with Brooke so he was letting the Kennedy boy calm down a bit first. Brooke knew his reputation and as far as Dante was aware, she hadnt expected any more from him than a fling and if she had, well tough luck. "So in the past couple of days of us not spending time together, whats new with you?" Dante laughed, "Im a poet but I didnt know it. Yeah lame I know but whatever." He linked his arm around her shoulder as the two walked down the corridor, Dante talking this much because he was still seething with Vaid, "Are you having a student teacher affair with Vaid?" He asked with a laugh, "Cause he didnt throw you in detention when we were late, only me. Or does he just hate me as much as he seems to?"

Potions was not Rosalie's favourite lesson, but being the true Ravenclaw she was, she fitted as many lessons as possible into her schedule to make the most of school. She had encouraged Dante to do the same but he disagreed with her methods and would always come up with the excuse 'work hard, play hard' and on the odd time Rosalie was doing some extra studying, he would be out with Alice doing merlin knows what. Rosalie tried not to think about it, and even when she did all she could manage was a roll of her eyes. The trio were great together normally however, but Rosalie would rather not be with them when those events happened.
So here Dante and herself were, walking to Potions class. Rosalie wondered where she got her patience from with Dante, him and Alice would be the only two who managed to get so much of it, probably because she loved them so much and knew they were worth waiting for, who knows. He had been chatting up some girl after their last class and eventually he started walking back to Rosalie to make the trek to Potions. "Honestly, your getting worse. You need to up your game a bit. That one took you 13 seconds longer than usual" she said as they continued walking, she smirked not even looking at Dante. As Rosalie pushed open the classroom door, she gave an apologetic look to the Professor as she handed in her homework at the front of the class before taking her seat. Five minutes they were late by, but Rosalie was not one for rule keeping. She still had the little piece of rebel in her, and although she did her homework, she wanted to. If she didn't want to, she wouldn't. Many people took her as a goodie twoshoes in which she soon hexed them to prove them wrong. She was not anything like a goodie two shoes, and if she had to, she would show them.
Rosalie twisted round and plopped into her seat, placing her books upon the table in front of her as she watched Dante get told off by Professor Vaid, Dante quite happily and ruthlessly telling him how he burnt his homework in favour of more fun things to do, hearing that last word made Rosalie cough loudly and roll her eyes. Saturday at 2 o'clock, detention. As Dante huffed and took his seat, Rosalie wrote a note and balled it up, throwing it at him when the professor had turned his back. 'Did you forget Vaid was the Occlumency professor? He knew you had plans thats why he destroyed them, duh!'' she had written in scribbled script.
Ignoring that now, she continued with the lesson, taking many notes and scribbling over the page until eventually the lesson was done. Within a flash, Rosalie had scooped her things up and was heading for the exit. Getting stopped by the Vaider, he simply asked her to try and help Dante out a little, making sure he hands his homework in. Rosalie nodded and briskly exited the classroom, un-noticed by Dante as he waited at the door. It wasn't until he shouted her to slow down that she did, stopping dead in the corridor in between a few people as they hurried to leave the corridor.
Being automatically led when Dante draped his arm around her neck, she looked up at him and smiled. She watched his mouth as he talked, seems as though his arm had muffled her ear slightly. Nodding on occasion, she chose to stay silent as he went on one of his famous Dante rants. Honestly, between Dante and Alice they could talk for England, the thought made her giggle slightly. They had walked from the dungeons all the way up to the main entrance by the time he had finished talking. Turning herself around to face him, his arm dropped from her shoulder and she clung to her books. "Me? Oh studying the usual you know. Nothing of importance..." she said, dismissing the question with a flip of the hand. "and is there even any girls left for you to hit on without doing another round of the same ones?" she grinned cheekily. She found his choice of lifestyle amusing, and seeing him get slapped once in a while made her laugh. He was a casanova in his own right, bless him.
Rosalie looked into the great hall for a moment before he asked if she was having an affair. Her eyes bulged and she looked back at him before swiftly following her shock, and disgust by a quick hit with her books onto his chest. "Don't you dare even go there. That's.....well, that's just wrong on so many levels" she said wrinkling her nose confirming it before she smiled sweetly back at him. "Besides, not all men are like you and want to hump everything that moves, Dante" she said, biting her lip.

The balled up piece of paper came to Dante as he was still fuffing about having a detention when he was supposed to be on a date with Paige on saturday afternoon, then out with Rosalie that night. He looked at Rosalie's writing and shook his head, he should really learn to close his mind from Will since the Potions Master did whatever he could to stop him from doing what he wanted. It was no secret that Dante and Will didnt get along, no secret at all. 'Yeah I did forget, but it doesnt matter now does it? Im gonna have to tell Paige our date is cancelled and unless I'm out on time I doubt I will be able to make it to C.M that night either. Shame really since Kieran said Saturday was a decent night in there.' He wrote and balled it back to Rose.
The lesson seemed to drag on as Dante pretended to actually do his work. Instead he was seething about the professor. Once the lesson ended he left the classroom, making no attempt to listen to Vaid when he called Dante's name at the end of the class. Once Rose came out he planned on making this dull Monday afternoon into something decent. Dante had to run to catch Rose, was she annoyed at him? Usually she found his antics funny but maybe she had a slight crush on the Professor, it wasnt like Rose told him who she liked, despite Dante sharing with her every detail of himself, which now he thought about it was an unfair trade.
If he was honest, Dante could talk for England but he couldnt hold a conversation unless the other person put some form of input into it and Rose was making no attempt to. Dante let his arm fall from around her shoulders then he jumped infront of her, holding his hands up to stop her from walking before saying, "Alright miss, what is wrong with you?" His brows furrowed as he studied his best friends face, "Apart from that note, you havnt said a word to me during lesson, now your giving me the silent treatment, you walked off after lesson making no attempt to wait. Have I done something to annoy you?" Dante didnt like it when she avoided questions, but when she said what she had been upto quite dismissivly, he simply shrugged, mumbled whatever and continued walking. "No, I guess not." Dante shrugged, "I might go back to the Kennedy chick, Brooke. She knew how to have fun." Though he said it with a smile, from his previous lapse of enthusiam, his voice was quiet and monotone.
"Defensive." He stated before taking a seat and grabbing a piece of toast. "Well you go for wrong so if Vaid is what suits you then whatever, just dont expect me at the wedding or I'd end up killing he groom." A smile lit his features showing he was only joking. Though her next sentance caught him by surprise and he choked on his toast, a small first year handed him a goblet of juice and he drained it, placing it back down rather forcefully, "No, those guys are just flacid." Flicking his fringe out of his eyes again he smiled. "Seriously though, I didnt mean it like that and... oh you know what forget it. Im not even going to bother defending myself."

Rosalie did not like confrontations, especially with teachers and when it was her best friend defying one well she felt like she was stuck in the middle of her future and her present. Dante was not making this easy for her as he constantly tested her patience and normally she would of laughed at the situation but today was not a laughing matter.
“Dante it’s not funny, you’re smart enough to pass school with great grades but you just mess about too much sometimes. I’m trying to do the best I can and I can’t be your babysitter all the time” she sighed before giving in to him. “I can get you out of the detention but you’ll have to give me an hour or two alright?” she huffed slightly as she said that entire mouthful in one breath. She loved Dante to pieces but sometimes he was just a moron.
“An affair with Professor Vaid?” she stopped short still cradling her books before she began snorting with laughter. “Oh Dante, for starters I wouldn’t be having an affair unless I was in a relationship with someone else but technically he would be having an affair with me. I would be his mistress” she said smugly before covering her mouth with her hand in attempt to control the erratic laughter. Rosalie then reached up and quickly ruffled Dante’s hair, knowing full well that he hated it.
“Don’t you know anything? I’m sure you should have a house named after you, you don’t seem to fit into any of the houses properly with a clean fit” she chortled away to herself as she began to walk again highly amused at Dante’s attempt at a joke. As they walked into the Great Hall she had only just managed to stop laughing as Dante grabbed a piece of toast she chose to ignore his taunts of a Vaid-Vincent marriage and soon grabbed the toast from between his fingers and took a bite, victory plainly written on her face.
“I think you’re jealous” she grinned, chewing the bread and grabbing a jug of orange juice. The liquid came out runny but when she took a sip she smiled. “Perfect orange juice...with bits!” she cheered happily to herself before resting the toast on her plate and looking back at Dante. “Yeah that’s it, you are jealous that he’s probably as handsome as you are!” she taunted poking Dante in the arm.

It wasnt his fault Will had a personal vendetta against him was it? Will did whatever he could to single Dante out, but Dante got his own back in most cases by being as defiant as he possibly could. He didnt know why he was so caught up on trying to make Vaid's life as impossible as he sometimes made Dante's but it was all in the name of fun, besides; every teacher had one student they didnt like, and Dante was obviously Will's.
"Jeez Rose." Came Dante's voice as he ran a hand nervously through his hair, "I dont want you to be my babysitter and I know I can pass these classes easily if I put my mind to it, I always do in the end and you know that, where's the harm in having a little fun?" As the two of them walked, he felt like he was once again being scolded for being the naughty child, he was sure at any moment now Rose would send him off to sit in a corner like a bad child, with a triangular hat with the word 'dunce' on it. "You can?" He was surprised, how can anyone get him out of a detention with Vaid? "How is that even possible?"
"Aah!" He jumped away as his hands went protectivly to his hair. How he hated people touching and messing up his hair, Rose knew all too well Dante was overprotective of his hair, it was the single most important thing to him. "Dont do that!" "It sounds like you enjoy the thought of being Vaid's mistress a bit too much if you ask me." His voice was simple and matter-of-fact. "It will only end in heartbreak you know, I dont suggest you even think about going there. You know how these loved up couples are, they knock my stomach for six."
"The Nikolas House, for those of non-belonging will surely find their way," He laughed as he spoke with the same rythmatic way the Sorting Hat usually did in the beginning of term. "Yeah, I know I dont fit in anywhere Rosalie, you dont need to tell me that. Though it would be fun to be in my own house, I can imagine it now..." He pretended to go off into a dream world for a moment before laughing when they got into the great hall. Sitting down, Dante began to happily munch on his toast, before it was yanked out of his hand by Rosalie and she began to munch on it. "Yeah fine you can have that one." He grinned and picked up another one.
"Jealous? Me?" He almost choked, Dante was the least jealous person he knew. He drank a bit of his pumpkin juice to wash down the toast which was now lodged in his throat. Cringing when she spoke of the bits in orange juice, Dante hated bitty orange. "I'm not jealous of Vaid, and there is no way he's even close to being as handsome as me, you females you're all the same. Throw a bit of stubble on the face, grow out the hair a bit and thats it, you think they are handsome. Sheesh." He moaned and bit down on his toast again, "I'll bet if he shaved and had a hair cut you wouldnt think that."
