The castle was already beginning to feel stuffy as Adelaine shifted in her seat. The professor drawled on about something, but she wasn’t quite sure what anymore. Addy had tuned out a while ago. Her eyes strayed back to the window, and she gave a little sigh. This was absolutely boring, she’d rather be anywhere else. It didn’t help that this particular professor had a rather monotone voice, which sounded like something out of those boring movies muggle kids were always forced to watch in their history classes.
“Miss Russo!”
Addy jerked in surprise and glanced back over to the professor. She blinked at him curiously, and he gave a sigh. “Would you like to answer the question?” Adelaine could feel her cheeks redden as everyone’s eyes turned on her. She chewed on her lower lip, before letting out an exasperated sigh. “I don’t know. [/i]” The question was then fired at another student, and Adelaine sunk lower into her chair. Some day this was turning out to be. Finally, after what seemed like a life time, she was allowed to leave. Adelaine zoomed out of the classroom, not even bothering to apologize to the few students that she had cut off. Freedom was sweet, she had to admit. After a quick stop at the common room (to drop off her books of course), she quickly hurried to the staircase that led to one of the lower levels. Just as she stepped on, the staircase jerked. Adelaine—being the clumsy, unbalanced fool she is—lost her balance instantly. She flung her arms around the railing to catch herself and let out a terrified squeak. The stairs shouldn’t be moving already, she had just gotten on! As if in response, they slowly groaned to a stop, but not where she expected. The stairs themselves didn’t connect to another end of the school, just seemed to hove above the darkness. Of course, it was still connected to where she had come from, but the other end just seemed too lazy to actually connect to the other side of the school. “ …Is it over?[/i]” Adelaine cracked open one eye, only to let out another squeak as she noticed that she was sitting dangerously close to the edge of the stairs. She stood up slowly, with one hand still clamped onto the railing, and stared with wide eyes at where the ground should’ve been. Addy turned slightly and was pleased to notice that at least the other half of the stairs was connected. As those gears turned in her mind, an idea popped into her head. She could just head back up the way she came, and then be on safe ground. Grinning slightly at her own genius, she took one step up the stairs. Well, the school wasn’t going to have that. The stairs moved again, throwing Addy off balance and only stilling when she was collapsed onto one of the steps. Her eyes were opened so wide it seemed that they would pop right out of her skull. By now, both arms were wrapped around on of the railing’s poles just in case the stairs decided to move again. She leaned slightly over the edge, and whimpered as she noticed how far the drop would be. “ Help…someone.[/i]” ( I read the little plot…thing and it said the stairs were acting up. So I decided to do this bit. If I’m totally and completely wrong, then just tell me someone ^-^ )[/font][/blockquote]

Post by Kendal Montgomery on Sept 27, 2008 1:57:07 GMT
Kendal was having a pretty decent day. She managed to get to her classes on time for one, that in it self was a miracle. Lately she couldn't seem to get anywhere on time and was usually serving detention every night because of it. Her professors constantly used her as the example of what not to do. It was so funny when she showed up first to her first period class the professor's jaw dropped so obviously that he actually had to apologize.
Sorry Ms. Montgomery just not used to you being the first in class.
Kendal didn't take offense to it, she herself was surprised she managed to get out of bed on time for a change. Even her dorm mate had to do a double take when she saw Kendal had woken up before her. Kendal immediately managed to see the benefits of her early rousing. She managed to finish some homework she had forgotten, got down to the Great Hall before breakfast was done, had a leisurely cup of coffee while waiting for class to start, and best of all there was no mad dash to get to class. Maybe this was something she'd continue to do (yeah right).
The day went by with no real hitches, classes were ok she answered some questions even got herself some points. After last class Kendal was ready to be done with the day. The only thoughts that came to mind now were getting a snack then going back to her room to lay down for a cat nap. As soon as the bell rang she was the first person out of the room.
Kendal was heading for a bite to eat in the kitchens since dinner was a few hours away, while standing in the corridor trying to decide the best way to go she heard a strange noise. It sounded like someone asking for help. At first she wasn't sure if she should inspect simply because there were certain ghosts at the school that enjoyed doing things like that to lure unsuspecting students into some sort of juvenile trap. Last week a first year Ravenclaw had a bucket of paint dumped on their head after she heard a cry for help. Kendal didn't feel like spending her free time getting paint out of her hair.
One foot in front of the other she began to walk away, but something inside her just felt off kilter. Something was telling her to go to the voice. She sighed hoping that she wouldn't regret this later and turned trying to find the voice. Looking around the corridor she didn't see anything. It was odd and soon she felt foolish for giving into her intuition. Turning a quarter of an inch to the right she suddenly saw the oddest sight that ever met her eyes in her seven years at Hogwarts. A girl was stuck on a staircase that didn't connect to any floors. The thing looked as if it were floating and the poor girl was stuck with no way off.
Kendal ran fast as she could until she reached the edge of the floor where the staircase should have been. "Holy..." she stopped herself from saying the rest. This was just crazy. "Hey help is here ok I'm going to try to get you down so just uh stay calm k." Kendal had no idea what she was going to do, maybe she should run and get a teacher, but that would take too long and who knows what that staircase would do next. Biting her bottom lip her mind raced through different ways to fix this problems. There was one spell that came to mind only problem was she couldn't remember the other that would make everything right again. "I can get you off the stairs I think, only problem is I don't think I remember how to get you down."
Not waiting for any sort of response Kendal reached under her robes and in the front pocket of her jeans pulled out her trusty wand. Pointing it at the girl, making sure her aim was spot on Kendal said "Locomotor girl" she wasn't sure it would work but she had to try.
