She should have gone straight to her room, packed, and left this place, but Vicky was hot. She started to feel faint and realized that she just needed some fresh air. So veering left the brunette found herself climbing the stairs to the roof of the castle. The cool air hit her face, and in no time at all she was starting to cool off. Now, she could officially say she had just had the worst day of her life. When it came to that man her common sense all but flew out the window. For months they had been so careful and in one fowl swoop the two of them could have possibly ruined a good thing.
Vicky didn't even stop to let Josh check her out. She might not be, but the way they were talking or she should say the way Dan was talking, Vicky was like the plague and she had to be eliminated. Of course it occurred to her that this was a hard situation for him, but hell he didn't even seem to bother thinking about her at all. It was all about getting her out of the castle to save his own neck.
Maybe this is what hurt so much. Deep down Vicky kept thinking that Dan could care for her as more than just his mistress, and every time that seemed closed to becoming a possibility he would ruin it by acting like a turd. Yes, he was a huge turd at least for now. Standing with her back to the ledge Vicky held a hand to her flat stomach. Looking down she realized she never allowed the new that she might be with child to sink in. What was she going to do if she was? How was she supposed to explain this? How was she going to do this all on her own?
So many question and no time to think and answer them. She wanted to be gone from her, to be rid of that man once and for all. Her biggest mistake was trying to give her heart to someone whose heart already belonged to someone else. Vicky had no idea what she had been thinking of, and now she was in a right pickle. Shaking her head, sending her long locks flying back and forth Vicky tried to keep from crying, or maybe even flinging herself off of the roof.
Just when she thought she could finally be alone to think she heard footsteps, and the shadow of a figure appeared. It didn't take a genius to know who it was. Vicky didn't look up just asked "What do you want now. I'm going to leave alright I just needed some fresh air."

It was harder then he thought it would be to track down a wayward Professor he was now starting to feel sorry for the students when they get sent to try and find him. Of course being the charmer and the bright spark that he was Dan also enlisted the help of the paintings that hung on the castle walls. Some were awkward sods and he had to use his authority as headmaster to get some form of an answer out of him others were determined to talk in riddles.
“There were three that I did see.” “Fantastic, but did you see Professor Potter?” “Speak in rhyme, or you’re not worth my time.” “er…I seek Miss Potter; did you see the way she did trotter?” Dan gave a slight shrug as he looked around at the other portraits that were present in the corridor, many where sniggering behind their hands as they watched the headmaster flounder in the metaphorical shallow water. “She went to where the sun shines bright, looking for that guiding light” “So she went outside?” The painting acted as if it could not hear the headmaster’s words as he looked puzzled at the portrait. This was harder then trying to get into the Ravenclaw commonroom. With a slight groan Dan tried to think on his feet and work out yet another riddle. “Did she go down bellow or will I find her…on…er….oh forget it!”
With a slight huff Dan waved his hands in the air as if dismissing this silly and confusing argument, turning on his heel and storming down the corridor trying to work out why the hell he got himself involved in such a stupid conversation. Of course that soon dawned on him why when he found himself walking without a purpose once again. It was time to use his loaf and try to work out what that portrait was on about. If Vicky had gone outside then she could be long gone by now and there is no way he could find her, but maybe if I went onto the roof and get a birds eye view…
Bounding up the small stairwell that lead to the roof Dan’s heart was in his mouth, this was the important thing right now; this is what his mind was focused upon. He needed to clear things up with Vicky, needed to promise he would be there for her whatever her decision would be. Throwing open the small wooden door that lead to the roof Dan’s eyes were fixed on the ground bellow as the desperately tried to scan the world bellow looking for someone that could look like Vicky. His mind was so fixed on searching for Vic that he failed to notice the brunette standing on the ledge of the roof, her loose hair dancing in the light breeze. Finally the man’s cool blue eyes landed upon her and as he gingerly approached her hash words filled the air about them.
Dan did not answer straight away in fact his hands where stuffed into his trouser pockets as he shyly moved to stand next to her. The eerie silence that seemed to be spreading across the castle grounds just made the situation between these two seem three times as bad. “I am not kicking you out the castle Vic.” Dan stated plainly, his emotions being kept completely under wraps. “I just want to help.” With a deep breath he turned to look at Vicky for the first time and tried to offer her a meek smile.

Why was he out here now? Why the hell couldn't he just leave her alone? Didn't he do enough? Vicky was simply angry now. Everything she wanted out of life she ruined to be a man who didn't give a damn about her. Why was so she so self-destructive. For pity's sake there was a man who did want her, wanted to treat her right and she probably screwed that up for the likes of Dan. What would she do if Warren found out that she and Dan had been together again.
It was bad enough that she had flaked on him, and their date. Allowing herself to be swept up in all this drama with his cousin. Vicky wanted to curl up in a ball and cry. Would Warren ever forgive her now. Because Vicky knew now that she was getting over Dan hard as it was for her to believe. Warren's face filled her mind now and the thought of hurting him in any way made her heart ache.
Now this one had to come follow her out here like she needed this right now. She wanted to be alone. The nearer he was to her that harder it was for her to think straight. Vicky had to look away or risk getting swept up in Dan. She might be getting over him, but her body couldn't get over the way he made it feel. It hungered for him and desired him. Her heart too, but her mind was trying to gain back control, to remind her of all the things that had happened since starting this affair up until this very moment.
He tried to make nice with her now. What? He didn't want a hysterical woman around so he was trying to calm her down some. Vicky was just tired of all of this. "You bloody well did say you wanted me gone if I was pregnant. You didn't even ask me how I felt just tried to figure out if I should stay or go. I know this situation sucks, I shouldn't have started an affair with you, but I didn't ask for this either. I'm scared to death. You didn't make me feel better you made me feel unwanted." Not like he hadn't made her feel that way before.
Wrapping her hand around her waist tightly, as if hugging herself wondering why she was still standing there at all talking to him. After she left the hospital wing she would have just left the castle not stayed behind to let him find her, which just made her wonder if she had stayed behind so that he would find her.

Now that is what he had been expecting, Vicky letting out all her frustration and where better then to shout as Daniel Hubbles then on the rood tops of the castle. He had not realised it but he has been holding his breath as his college and mistress shouted at him, letting here true feelings escape into the beautiful blue spring sky. It would have been easy for Dan to yell back at her and then for the two of them to fall into an overdramatic and unnecessary fight where nothing would have been achieved and feelings would simply be hurt.
He had hurt her, made her feel unwanted and as always in the true Dan way he had only been thinking of himself. Dropping his gaze Dan took a deep breath and stepped away from the edge and he began to walk away from Vicky. There was nothing he could say to that, she had spoken only the truth. The only words left where words of apology and there was no way in hell she would believe him now, not after everything that he had said and done. But then as his mother would tell him, there would be no harm in trying.
“I am sorry Vic.” His voice was sincere and with his hands still shoved in his pockets he glanced back over his shoulder at the brunette. “I never meant to hurt you, I nev-” Dan cut off and a small smile spread across his face as he remembered a small inside joke he had with Dia. Pulling his hands from out of his pockets one of them nervously ran through his thick hair as he tried to clear his thoughts and move them away from his wife to the pressing matter at hand. “I want to help, I mean, I will be there for you all the time. This is my fault as well and I will take responsibility for my actions. You will not have to do this alone Vic.”
Dan carefully took a step forward so that he was closer to Vicky; it was his way of proving to her that he was not running away from her, that the mere sight of her did not repulse him. Swallowing back the nervous and the bile that was rising in his throat Dan once more tried to offer Vicky a small smile knowing that he will most likely be shot down again in a few seconds time…and for once in his life Dan knew he deserved it.

Victoria just stood there unblinking. She didn't know what to do, what to say, what to think. This whole thing was just out of control. Now she might even be pregnant. Her own body betraying her in such a way, that might tie her to Dan Hubbles for the rest of her life. At this moment Vicky knew she didn't want that. There was only one man she did want in her life. Boy she really was in the thick of it all wasn't she.
Dan started to apologize to her, at the moment she didn't really want to hear it too much had happened that day and Vicky's eyes were finally opened. His remarks in the hospital wing stuck with her replaying over and over. He standing there with Josh trying to figure out how to "fix" the problem. He stated he never meant to hurt her, but that was all he ever seemed to do to her. All she ever allowed him to do was hurt her.
Vicky just wanted to be alone take some time to think, Dan was just clouding her judgment the way he always did when he was around. She wasn't thankful for it because she simply wanted to...Hell she didn't know what the hell she wanted right now. Even his promise of being there for her didn't make her feel any better.
But he meant it apparently because he walked away and then walked back to her standing right in front of her so that they two could face each other eye to eye. Damn him, damn him to hell. He was good at doing this to her as she looked up at him. "Damn you Hubbles" she said and started to cry, finally letting all her emotions bubble up to the surface and take over.

“Dam me.” Dan muttered light-heartedly as the tears started to fall from Vicky’s striking violet eyes. He was the source of this pain and he knew that he would not be the remedy this time. But he had said that he would be there for her and a man of his word (but clearly not his marriage vows…but then was the 5th commandment thou shall not admit adultery?) Dan moved towards Vicky, gently pulling her away from the edge of the roof and safely into the safe embrace of his arms. He knew that she may resist this pull and try to avoid any possible intimacy between the two but Dan really did leave her with no choice.
As he held Vicky in his arms he gently soothed her, making gentle ‘there there’ noises while stroking her silky brown hair. “Together you and me shall get through this. We can be scared stiff together.” He gave a small chuckle, trying to use humour to ease the situation between them. But in truth he was scare, so scared of having responsibilities of being a parent, he was not ready for this. Maybe if it had been with Dia he could have possibly got through it with her support and irrational belief in him but with Vicky…he was petrified but he was not going to show it.
Unwrapping his arms from around Vicky Dan pushed himself away knowing that he best not linger too long near her. She said that she wanted space and if that is what Vicky wanted then that is what Dan would give her. “If you want Vic I shall go. I just…I just want to know you okay. Your important to me now.”
Dan winced as soon as these last words escaped from him as he knew straight away how it could sound, how it did sound. With an exasperated groan Dan looked at Vicky with pleading eyes almost begging her not to snap at him, he could not take it. His own world was crumbling around him and to have another woman shouting at him he really could not take; heck maybe jumping off the roof right now would save him a lot of hassle....but cause Dia a lot of pain. She was the sweet thorn in his side she would find out and she would kill him. Not even the Hubbles charm would be able to save him from this.

A slight breeze blew once more sending Vicky's dark hair flying around her face. A stand landed close to her mouth so with her index finger she pulled it away tossing her hair back behind her. The tears steady falling from her eyes as she started to regret every decision she had made in the last few months. Part of her was actually regretting the decision to come back and teach at this school. Vicky longed for Dan from the first time she saw him. Wanting him never waned even after he married Dia. Somehow the two had gotten together but it was just a huge mistake.
Dan moved closer to her and she sort of stiffened. He pulled her away from the edge of the rooftop, perhaps he feared she would jump. Not that she hadn't given it a thought for about a second, but she wouldn't do that. He pulled her into a hug, one that Vicky couldn't really return., these weren't the arms she wanted around her just now Her arms held stiffly at her sides while he wrapped his arms around her. Standing there he was telling her that they could be scared together and Vicky would realize how sweet he could be.
Vicky was starting to buy his line of BS once more, as he unwrapped his arms around her and told her that if she needed space he would give it to her. Vicky felt a bit less angry and would have asked him to stay there with her. But typical Dan he couldn't just leave well enough alone.
As the two stood there Dan said something, and again he made Vicky mentally kick herself for ever falling for him. "You're important to me now" Vicky's eyes were still glistening from her crying, her cheeks were tear stained. She looked a right mess but didn't care as she stared at him. "You had to say that didn't you. I'm so stupid" and with that she pushed him out of her way and started off the roof. Down the stairs trying yet again to get away from him.
