Finding Freedom; Stairs were probably the worst invention ever, or at least that is how Cora felt as she rounded her fifth staircase. With her bag in tow, her sketchbook and pencils, along with her ever-heavy Potions textbook, The young lady was being weighed down. Her dark hair, in a mess of frizzy waves fell around her shoulders, sweat forming at her temples. She was happy to have changed out of her school robes, she was sure she wouldn't have made it with out her own muggle clothes on.She took a deep breath and climbed the last set of stairs to the rooftop.
She came out onto the small roof, a gust of wind taking her hair fro her face, and cooling her red face. She grinned as she looked around, seeing no one. It made her happy to get away from the hustle and bustle of the castle. Cora often got lost in the crowd, and there was just to many people running around, glancing at her as she walked, hunched and introverted to her classes. The wind took all of her cares away. She could hear the spring birds chirping their happy song, as she walked to the edge of the high roof and sat indian style.
To Gaze Out; Cora unbuckled her bag and slipped out her leather bound sketchbook. Out of all the sketchbooks she had, this one was her favorite. Bounded in blue tinted leather, it had her initials, CDD, circling a flower on the cover. Cora's father always called her a little wallflower, and so his gift was truly appreciated by the shy little mouse of a girl.
Coralie searched her bag for a newly sharpened pencil. Once she found what she was looking for, she placed the book on her lap, opening it to a blank page. She slipped the back end of the pencil in her mouth, looking out over the edge of the roof. The turret which she found herself wasn’t on of the incredibly high ones, but it was in the front of the castle, giving a lovely view right out over the lake and into the forest without any other towers in the way.
The sun had finally started to give its hold of the earth over to the moon. The sky was yellow and orange and pink as it said goodbye for the night. A sot breeze had descended over the lake, and the water waved quietly in the distance. The trees picked up the breeze and waved its leaves as the wind blew through it. Cora lowered her eyes, the image captured in her mind. The blank space on the page was calling to be filled.
Swimming Over the White; Cora’s pencil touched the virgin paper, creating a dark sketch line. Cora continued, added in the lake’s boundary and the soft plant life that surrounded it. She drew the opposite bank, lush and hilly, the reflection in the water. Her outline drawn, she looked up again at the sight. It was beautiful. The breeze shifted directions and took her hair. Cora hold down the paper with her hand so it wouldn’t flip. Cora was distracted by the colors of the sun, and her drawing was left unfinished.
