March. It really was like the famous saying said; "mad as a march hare", the castle seemed to be living by that motto right now and Brooke was no exception. Her usual fiery spirit had been withdrawn and instead came the cool-headed, fairness seeking spirit. Anyone who knew Brooke new this wasn't the real her, but many people had been changing compared to their usual personalities, many people were too self consumed to notice, but Brooke had changed, many would say for the better. Instead of usually being the big-headed, vain and selfish girl she usually was she had done a turn and had somehow ended up to be more like her younger sister.
And what was worse was that her brother was more like her.
It was beyond weird to see Bryn acting like the real Brooke, cringeworthy even to view his escapades in her new state of mind. He wasn't exactly grotesque to the eye and she was sure that many girls in Hogwarts wouldn't mind being the prize catch on his arm, but usually that arm was taken by her own self. It was very hard to be with a Kennedy and not get stick from the other twin, a mission for only the strongest and healthiest of determined minds, and Bryn was usually much harder to get to than Brooke because he wouldn't go with just anyone whereas Brooke was a little more 'free-spirited'. They had all swapped. Brooke was Ali, Ali was Bryn and Bryn was Brooke. A frightening prospect.
"Up on the roof" she pointed out as the pair scanned up the side of Hogwarts examining the sheer height of how far they had to go.
"I swear I heard that Hogarth say that it was the best place to see fireflies at night" she continued as she opened up the door on the ground floor to the roofs. She smirked bundling her brother into the small dark archway.
The pair were collecting potion ingredients for their next lesson. Brooke had been pestering Bryn all week to come with her but he had been putting it off in favour of other things, things Brooke certainly didn't want to know about and it wasn't until a few hours earlier that her keen ears picked up the dulsit tone of Dean Hogarth whispering along with some Ravenclaws about where he got a great jar full of fireflies. Brooke couldn't let it pass and she wanted the potion to be as good as possible, meaning the brightest fireflies they could possibly catch.
"Come on slowpoke! Besides, if it's nice we can go and get Ali and show her...she'll like that" Brooke beckoned as she started up old wooden stairs to the roof, her shoulder bag rattling with the clank of two glass jars with bronzed lids as she jogged up the stairs.
"It's pitch black up here, get your wand out Bryn"
