Leigha did like the outdoors of Hogwarts more than any other place within it's walls. The Hufflepuff common room being much like a Badger's den and underground became very claustrophobic pretty easily and although it was January and still very cold, the crisp clean Scottish air was always welcomed as Leigha simply was always hot due to running around and never sitting still.
This late January morning however normally Leigha would be doing homework on sundays and then taking a trip to Honeydukes to go and get her fill of sweets and goodies. The candy was probably the reason why she was always constantly hyped up and ready to run a marathon. However so early after the christmas period she surprisingly didn't have much homework, only a potions essay which she had already completed. It was barely nothing and even she thought it was pretty easy, that coming from someone who didn't pay attention in class.
Her christmas was good, well as good as it could be. It was the usual boring family christmas get together with her parents and her younger sister, who would be joining Hogwarts next year. Leigha was definately not looking forward to her brat of a kid sister annoying her at every given chance and she chuckled to herself as she thought of seeing her sister being sorted into Slytherin. How funny that would be to see, but it really wouldn't surprise her. Bree, her sister, was a sly and conniving little madam and was spoilt rotten. It made Leigha laugh but she just put it down to her being the youngest.
So here she was on the roof of Hogwarts, scanning the horizon and looking at the mountains over the other side of the lake. As she leant on the stone wall she jumped when she heard the door close, slipping her elbow off the stone in shock, she flipped around and gasped. "Gobstones! You scared me half to death! Is that your plan for today or something?" she grinned.

Alexis was glad to be back at school after seeing her family. Normally it was the other way around but this year things were different. Her and her siblings seemed to have grown apart in the last year. They spent most of their time bickering like babies. Her parents growing more and more frustrated by the day. Alexis couldn't keep her emotions under control and she kept morphing one minute her hair would turn red in anger or black with fury. Her parents demanded she stop using her magic but she couldn't help what happened. Then there was the restriction for underage wizardry she feared getting a letter saying she had been expelled. The last night home was the first time she was happy because next day she'd be back at school where people liked her.
Once at the train station everyone tried to put on a happy face but it didn't work there was this tension in the air and they all felt it. Once Alexis was through the barrier to platform 9 3/4 she smiled for the first time in days. The train ride was pleasant because she got to catch up on some reading and had no one picking on her. Back in school she resumed study mode. Exams were coming and she planned to do her best as always.
Sitting on her bed in the dorm her transfiguration book propped up on one knee she read the same paragraph over and over and it still never made any sense to her. She disliked the feeling of not knowing something and she soon became agitated and frustrated. Her eyes rolled to the heavens several times before she simply got annoyed so she left the room she just needed some time to breathe to think to just be. Normally she would have gone to the quidditch pitch and sat in the stands just picturing herself flying high up in the sky. Today she wanted a change of venue so she headed up to the roof.
It wasn't a part of the school she frequented but today was just a day to do something different. So up she went figuring if anything it would be a good place to be alone. When she opened the door leading to the roof it was to find that she was anything but alone. Another girl had beaten her to it. Alexis didn't know her name but did recall she was a Hufflepuff. Trying her best not to let her disappointment show she gave a huge grin saying "great minds really do think alike huh." One of those phrases she liked to use often since she found it was a decent way to break the ice.

“Lyndsay, do you ever put down those books?” Came Dante’s voice from the other end of the Ravenclaw common room. Lynds looked up to see him losing a game of Wizard’s chess to his friend Rosalie. This was a common occurance for him, she knew that he, for lack of a better word, sucked at Wizards Chess, anyone could beat Dante, even Lyndsay had a few times, just to prove he wasn’t the best at everything. She stuck her tongue out at the pair with a grin and shoved her book back in her bag, ”Better?” She asked as she stood up and walked over to the chess board, looking down at it, she tutted and moved one of his pieces for him, taking two of Rosalie’s as she did. ”You should really give up playing this, you only make a fool of yourself.”
She walked up the stairs and placed her bag by her bed, wondering where on earth Leigha was, she quickly changed out of her robes into a pair of jeans and a blue t-shirt, carrying with her a black jacket and her wand before she headed back downstairs and out of the Common Room. The day had finished and Classes had let out, but it wasn’t time for curfew yet, she had a good few hours ahead of her as she wandered lazily around the castle, looking for some sign of Leigha. Lyndsay stopped at a portrait, one her and Leigha often talked to. ”Hello Lyra, have you seen LeeLee?” Lyndsay asked as the woman in the portrait turned to her, ”Yes dear, she passed by here earlier, I think she told me to tell you if I saw you that she was going to the roof.” This had Lyndsay confused momentarily, what would LeeLee be going to the roof for? She thanked Lyra and began making her way to the other side of the castle to reach the roof.
Lynds wasn’t the biggest fan of heights if she was honest, they gave her the heebie jeebies. As long as she didn’t look down however they didn’t bother her, but try to force her onto a broom stick and you were asking for trouble. Lyndsay was usually a kind person, but she wasn’t afraid to hex a person for trying to force her to do something. ”En Guard ye scurvy dollrat!” Came the voice of Sir Cadogan. A man who’s portrait had hung here from Harry Potter’s time, his sudden outburst made Lyndsay jump. ”I’ll bleedin’ give you En guard in a minute you stupid old goat! You nearly gave me a heart-attack!” Her heart was indeed racing as she put her hand over her chest, ”And who are you calling a scurvy dollrat! I’ve a right mind to take you off that wall and give you a damn good shaking up!” Lyndsay stormed off towards the castle roof, one thing she didn’t like was someone scaring her, and another thing was being called something, like a scurvy dollrat. What in Merlin’s name was a dollrat anyway?
”LeeLee No! You have your whole life ahead of you!! Don’t jump!” She called as she got onto the roof, scrabbling to find her feet. Standing up she let out a laugh knowing full well that Leigha wouldn’t jump off a roof. She was too carefree for that. If the outcome of landing at the bottom without dying was a possibility then maybe she would for the sheer buzz of it, but other than that, no. Only then did Lyndsay notice that someone else was there, this was clearly either not a private party, or Lyndsay was gate-crashing. Which, she would be upset about if LeeLee was having a party without her, a small one or not. ”Am I gate crashing?”

The view up here was amazing and anyone who said otherwise well Leigha would prove them wrong by throwing them off it! Only kidding, she wasn't strong enough to throw someone off the building, nor would she particularly want too. It would certainly be messy to clean up what remained from this great height anyway. It wasn't often that Leigha came up here but she did it every so often, mostly when it had been raining and it was too muddy to go onto the lawns or when she on the extremely odd occasions wanted five minutes peace... on those very odd occasions.
Grinning as a girl appeared, Leigha turned around and leant against one of the crumbling pillars that lined the castle roof, more like turrets that anything. "It seems that way, although I think mine's just more stupidity to be quite honest" she chuckled slightly before raising her eyebrows and looking out back over to the mountains.
Leigha remembered the last time she came up here was with Lucas where he pranked her and she was scared for her life. Of course he knew if she died she would come back to haunt him and only him and would never rest (not like ghosts could rest) until he was pranked as bad as he did to her. Oh Yes, vengeance would be hers in the afterlife! "I'm Leigha Bones, and who might I ask be thee?" she grinned as she extended her hand towards the girl. She knew that she was a Ravenclaw but Leigha didn't retain people's names all that well, heck she even had a problem remembering her own sometimes.
LeeLee No! You have your whole life ahead of you!! Don’t jump!
The voice was instantly recognisable to Leigha and she began laughing before looking at her. Good old Lyndsay always appeared at the most random times but to Leigha they were always welcomed. Walking back up to the pillar, Leigha put one foot high up on the ledge and pretended like she was about to dive off the side. "I'm on the edge...literally!" she said in all seriousness before pulling her foot back off and greeting Lyndsay with a quick hug. "I'm guessing you two already know each other, being braniacs and all" she said all in jest as she nudged Lynzadoodle with her elbow. "So why are you up here... sorry, what was your name?"

The view from the roof was spectacular she felt sorry that she never spent much time up there. Usually, the pitch is where she gravitated toward. But now seeing this...An owl flew past free as ever and she wished that she could be so free. Sometimes she felt a bit stifled and sometimes it did get to her that's probably why she was out and about right now.
The girl she interrupted started to speak she made Alexis laugh in answer to her question. "I've never gotten that answer before but I doubt the stupid thing applies. It's really pretty up here I'm really miffed I haven't really been up before it's amazing."
Alex walked over to the side and peered down the view from up there was quite frightening, just the thought of falling made her move back a ways. The image of her getting scared and jumping then somehow falling. Of course she wasn't afraid of heights she played Quiddtich after all. Perhaps it was just the idea of falling at least on her broom she knew how to stay up.
Turning away from the ledge the other girl introduced herself as Leigha. An name that she could say that she never anywhere before. Preparing to give her name now she heard the door to the roof open once more and this time a fellow Ravenclaw came out Lyndsay. The two girls knew each other. Alexis allowed them time to say hellos until she was again asked her name.
"Oh sorry I'm not usually so ditsy when it comes to manners I'm Alexis. Good to see you here Lindsay" she said speaking to the other girl they weren't really friends but Alexis thought she was cool none the less. So much for alone time.

Leigha and Lyndsay were great friends although it was unsure why because Lyndsay didn't really care for most people like Leigha. Maybe the difference was that Leigha wasn't arrogant and she really was herself around everyone and that part of her never changed. Maybe Lyndsay could see that with Leelee what you saw really was what you got, like it or lump it. It seemed Lyndsay had liked it.
Leigha wasn't the best at anything, she was awful at a lot of things and if it wasn't for Lyndsay helping her with classwork and homework then Leigha was sure she would of been kicked out or low and behold, be worse than Lucas McGuff. That boy was just stupid, even dumber than dumb, but he was cute even if he was a pain in the butt, even for Leigha's threshold.
"Did Lyla tell you where I was or was it a lucky guess?" she asked her friend with a questionable eyebrow and a small grin pushing her rounded cheeks up. There was a portrait of a woman on a secluded corridor that both Leigha and Lyndsay had talked with for hours on end before just to see if she held any secrets or unveiled any secret passageways. Lyndsay had been sceptical of the woman's answer and Leigha ended up getting in a heated argument with her (the first time ever, and only because the portrait couldn't fight back) that sparked off the pairs friendship with the portrait. Apparantely Lyndsay was extremely wise beyond her years and Leigha was as dumb as the day is long but she was persistent. Leigha took that as a sort of compliment and then in return complimented the portrait on her brush strokes.
What a legendary compliment that was to say to a Portrait.
"Alexis, Alexis, Alexis" she repeated, trying to force the name and the face into her head. She continued to mutter her name under her breath before she was happy that the name was firmly imprinted in her mind.
"Neither of you saw Lucas on the way here did ya?" she squeaked, remembering why she had actually come up to the rooftops in the firstplace and given strick instructions to only tell Lyndsay where she was and not that Gryffindork. With that, Leigha pushed the door shut and lay her back against it before opening it up slowly just a little and looking down into the stairwell before closing it shut quickly again. She almost caught her fingers in the door as she did so and she gasped slightly as she felt them skim the doorframe.
Panic over, there was no sign of Lucas. Returning to her normal self, she walked back over to the edge and grinned as she looked all the way down. Looking back at the ravenclaws she chuckled in a high pitched girlish laugh. "Don't tell me you two are scared?! I thought I was meant to be the Hufflepuff!"

Though Lyndsay knew LeeLee wouldn’t jump off the edge, she would admit to feeling a little bit worried when LeeLee stepped closer to the edge. Thankfully however, she seemed to be in her right mind as she turned away from the edge and came over to give Lyndsay a hug. Lyndsay wrapped her arms around Leigha, ”I swear LeeLee, ever give me a scare like that again and I promise you I will personally throw you off it.” She was only joking of course, but if LeeLee fell, Lyndsay would probably jump after her in hopes of catching her, only after she jumped would she realise that it was probably the most dumbest thing she could have done. ”Well… We know who we are, though I don’t know her.” “I usually am wherever LeeLee is.” Lyndsay laughed. She had known Alexis throughout school though the two had never really conversed and Lyndsay knew as much about Alexis as she knew about the next stranger which possibly may come along.
Leigha, though on the complete opposite end of the personality scale to Lyndsay, was the one person Lyndsay cared for most in the school. Lyndsay tended to change to fit the kind of situation she was in, or the kind of people she was with, though she was always herself around Leigha. Leigha had an addictive personality, Leigha knew it, Lyndsay knew it. She was the one person who would always give you a straight answer, where Lyndsay may dodge the truth. Both girls were different, which was probably why they got along so well.
Lyndsay, being the study maniac she was, didn’t mind helping those who needed it. She often tutored Leigha, helping her through her homework and classwork and trying to help her make sense of most of them. It was difficult sometimes as Leigha often had the attention span of a three year old, but after stressing out a lot, many late nights in the Library and a pile of books later, they had finally succeeded in maintaining a passing grade for Leigha.
”Yeah, Lyra told me you had come up here.” Lyra was a portrait of a red haired woman in a gown from the eighteen-hundreds or something. She was pretty and quite friendly too, Lyndsay and Leigha often spoke to Lyra, they could be seen standing there for hours in full blown conversation with the woman in the portrait. Lyndsay would always remember the day LeeLee told Lyra she had brilliant brush strokes. Lyra seemed to like the compliment and began to talk about the artist which had bored them to near tears, Lyndsay had scolded LeeLee good and proper for that when they were able to get away. ”So here I am.”
”Lucas was with those other two guys he hangs around with. They were wandering the corridors when I came up here but none of them seemed interested in the roof.” Lyndsay found it hilarious how LeeLee was always trying to avoid Lucas, and had such fun sometimes in telling Lucas where LeeLee was hiding. Her face was a picture whenever Lucas showed up. Lyndsay was stood a considerable length away from the edge, though when LeeLee spoke, Lyndsay looked up at her and frowned. ”You know how I am with heights, LeeLee, they don’t like me and I don’t like them.”

When it came to Alexis it really didn't take long for her to feel, well to feel out of place. Right now it happened when she realized that the two girls up here with her on the roof were pretty good friends. They were joking and talking happy as can be while Alexis sort of hung back just kind of watching them. Their conversation was fast and furious it was hard to keep up, she felt like she needed a score card. It was bam bam bam back and forth.
There was something about a portrait who told one where the other was. Then something about a boy named Lucas. A name she heard often enough he was somewhat of a legend around the school the way most girls stated it. Alexis never had the pleasure not that she needed it, she was perfectly content with Shaun though it had been some time since she'd seen him.
Again Leigha moved to the edge of the building. Alexis felt her heart start racing. People often said when you were up high you don't look down, when it came to Quidditch she didn't find that true but in this case all she could see was herself falling and a huge splat as she hit the floor. That would be no fun so if she was considered a chicken for hanging back then hey bawk bawk bawk.
At least she wasn't the only one who didn't seem to enjoy the height Lyndsay too informed Leigha that she wasn't a roof friendly kind of girl. Feeling the need to chime in she said "Yeah I know what you mean. That is a really long way down. You're a lot braver then I am standing there." Glancing up wards she caught sight of another bird flying toward the owlery. "The view from here is here is well worth it though the birds seem closer from up here" she mused. "So how long have the two of you been friends you seem really close."

Leigha nodded at Lyndsay, glad that Lucas was nowhere near her. How she detested that boy, he was always around her attempting to prank her in some stupid way and in all truth he just scared the bejesus out of Leigha. She wasn't all bothered by males but Lucas just tried too hard to get under her skin. Maybe Lyndsay thought she liked him, but in truth she hadn't ever looked at him like that, he was just a dork and not really a boy that she would be happy to take home to meet her parents. To be quite truthful she thought Kieran was adorable even though Lyndsay hated him and his popular guts.
Leigha being Leigha was not very observant and she often tended to ramble on about anything and everything. She was very scatty and would often flit from one conversation straight onto a totally different one without even blinking an eyelid. It was just how her mind worked and at least it kept everyone on their toes. It also was confusing as to why she always had tons of energy, she could probably run laps around the lake all day and not get tired. Okay that was an exaggeration but she would recover quicker than others.
"Alex, you don't mind if I call you that right?" She said fast as she hooked her arm over her shoulder and lead her over to the edge of the rooftop. Looking straight down, she looked back at Alexis and gave a cheesy grin. "What's the worst that could happen? You have your wand right, you could always cast a cushioning charm, whereas I wouldn't be able to so well because I don't know it, so I'd just splat...what i'm saying is you two would be perfectly fine, you're Ravenclaws you know your stuff whereas I would probably just fall to my death and say sorry to the floor on the way down" she giggled unhooking her arm from around the Ravenclaws neck and nudging her shoulder with her own.
"Isn't that right, Lynz?" she said looking behind her at Lyndsay for some reassurance to give to Alexis. In Leigha's mind there was really no reason for them to be afraid, especially Alexis if she played Quidditch. She leant against the low stone wall of the edge of the rooftop and faced Alexis and Lyndsay as she folded her arms over one another and crossed her legs simply sat in silence for a quick moment as she looked up through her eyelashes. This was a sure sign that she was actually thinking, and usually that was pretty dangerous.
"Infact, I think it would be pretty fun" she grinned devilishly as she looked from one face to the other in search of their being the slightest glimmer of adventure emitting from either Ravenclaw. "Oh come on, don't tell me that you wouldn't think it would be amazing to freefall and land on a huge cushion?!" she asked with raised eyebrows. Yes, Leigha was asking them if they wanted to willingly throw themselves off the rooftops... for fun!

Lyndsay didnt see the problem, she actually thought Lucas was kind of funny. He was sweet in his own way and more modest than Kieran or Ollie. The only problem with Lucas was the fact he hung around with those two, Lyndsay actually enjoyed listening to Lucas' rambles about who he had pranked and how he had done it. Lyndsay just thought the reason he was how he was with Leigha was because of the way she reacted. Lyndsay did think Leigha had a soft spot for Lucas and it was just deeply hidden, even to her. As for Kieran, if Leigha ever said that to her, she would kill Leigha.
Lyndsay didnt like the self proclaimed popular people, especially Kieran and Ollie, she often wondered why Lucas spent so much time and energy on them, she would have gotten rid long ago. Lyndsay, after years of knowing Leigha was used to her flitting and random amounts of energy, it rarely phased her anymore. A lot of Leigha rubbed off on Lyndsay, the two girls were mismatched, but seemed to fit incredibly well together. Though she would admit, sometimes her endless amount of energy wore her out.
"Brave or stupid, I've yet to work out which." Lyndsay laughed as she looked over to Lexi, as she did she spotted a bird and laughed, no wonder Dante wouldnt come up here. After the disaster in the Care of the Magical Creatures lesson, his fear of birds was no longer a secret. She had actually felt sorry for him, he was scared of birds, and the thing took a liking to him. "We've been friends for... well ever." Or so it felt like to Lyndsay.
"The worst is we could fall and be squished like pancakes. And I dont like pancakes." Leigha let go of Lynds who backed off a couple of steps. Lynds was smart, but she didnt know a cusioning charm, she silently wondered if the protego spell would be sufficiant.
"Uh..." Honestly, she disliked heights, how could she reassure someone else about them when she herself disliked them immensly? It was like asking Dante to assure someone that birds werent evil creatures. It just wouldnt happen. "Wrong person to be asking LeeLee. You know I'm terrified of heights. If I had wings, I probably wouldnt be, but I dont. So I am."
"You think it would be fun to throw ourselves off the roof? Just for the hell of it?" Lyndsay raised her eyebrows in question. Sometimes her best friend could be so weird she often wondered why the two of them were best friends. Lyndsay would not willingly throw herself off a roof for no good reason, sure if something was chasing her she may do, as long as she knew a way she wouldnt be squished. "Leigha, if you want to throw yourself off the roof and die, then go right ahead. But when you come back as a ghost I will be first in line to say I told you so."
