Night had become Ellie's least favorite time of day as of late. It seemed as though when all the lights were out, Hogwarts was filled with an intense feeling of forboding. Something wasn't right with in the hallowed halls of hoggy-warty Hogwarts. Ellie could feel it as she walked down the corridors. The prefect had dreaded her night time duties for a few weeks now. Luckily she hadn't come into anything as strange as the night she and Professor Hubbles battled the armor. The patches on her arm were still scabbed over from the battle and the tip of her fingers were still slightly singed as well. However, the prefect had her duties and her odd feelings weren't enough to get out of them.
Heading out from the library, which she had just checked for stray students, she rounded the corner and found herself face to face with a ghost. "Gemma! Honestly!" Ellie said, breathing hard. "Hey, there Ellie!" Gemma said with excitement. "What are you up too?" Ellie sighed, Gemma was a sweet heart, but the ghost had a habit of forgetting that she was dead and always wanted to hang out with the still live Hufflepuff. "Rounds Gemma. Sorry, but I have to get going." Ellie scooted around the ghost and hurried off. Gemma continued on her way. Neither one of them noticed that Ellie didn't go straight through the ghostly figure.
Ellie found herself up by the owlery when she heard a loud banging noise. "Hello?" She said, raising her wand toward the sound. "Lumos." She said, lighting up the door to the owlery. She took a step toward it and listened closely. She heard the bang again, it made her jump. She slowly opened the Owlery door and climbed up.
Ellie walked into the owlery, her wand lit up and held out in front of her, illuminating the tower. Owls sat on their perches, some sleeping, some eating their fresh kill of the night. Ellie suddered with disgust. The owls looked at her. She knew it probably wasn't a good idea for her to be in here, the animals and all. Ellie slowly backed up as one rather large black owl hooted at her. "I'm leaving...geeze.." She said, but as she reached the door, she heard the loud bang again. She quickly turned to her right and lit up the tower again. Nothing was there except for more owls. Ellie sighed, she had been holding her breath.
Again she turned and started to walk out, hooting following her. She hated animals. However, the hooting grew louder, and louder, until all the owls were up and at 'em. The flapped their wings. Ellie turned and shone the light at them. Some hissed. "Ok fellas, take it easy." She said, backing up slowly. Again they hissed. She backed up to the door and tried to open it. It was stuck. But banged on the door as the owls became more restless. Why did this always happen to her.
"Help!" She banged on the door again. She was stuck with a large group of angry owls. "Listen, I didn't mean to bother you, I was just checking things out, making sure you were ok..." The brown tawny snapped at her left arm. Ellie flinched just in time. "ok..." She said, unsure of what to do. She tried the door again. She heard a rustling on the other side of the door. "Help." She pounded on the wood.
Ellie groaned as the owls bean to hoot louder. one swooped down and flew close to her head. She screamed. "Let me out...it's not funny! Let me out!" Another owl swooped down at her. Ellie ducked, but not it time, its beak caught her forehead. She could feel a small amount of blood drip down her temple. Why did everything always happen to her.
