Earlier that evening, in the midst of ranking female Quidditch players with his dorm-mates, Noah had been assaulted by a distraught barn owl. There was no letter attached to either of its legs, indicating a lack of mail, yet the bird refused to leave him alone.
Finally after at least fifteen minutes of irate squawking, Noah's friends threw him and the owl out of the dormitory. Defeated after a rather loud string of cruses, Noah relented and followed the bratty messenger to the owlery.
"That package better be enormous if you couldn't bring it to me." Noah grumbled, being led to a tall window where he spotted it. It wasn't a particularly large package, though took the strength of both his hands to carry it. Settling down next to it on one of the benches, Noah tilted his head to one side curiously.
"There's no return address." He informed his nuisance of a companion. The bird twittered noisily into his ear, not particularly helpful. Noah looked around for any sort of letter or card, but the plain brown package was the only thing in front of him. "Should I open it here, or force one of my roommates to do it for me?"

It had been a while since Brooke and Bryn had sent letters back home, and when they arrived back home before the new term they both got a thorough telling off, only for Ali to just sit and smile smugly in the corner. Brooke just stuck her tongue out at her and continued to get shouted at. Bryn just ended up laughing at their mother and she looked disappointed back at Brooke. Typical.
So here she was in the courtyard, writing her first letter of the new term back home. Hell, it was short and to the point, but that's how Brooke was, and she didn't want to spend all of her social hours writing back home. Brooke never did find a good balance of study, home like and social life. It was always one or the other, usually being the latter.
"Bryn's going to get hexed by his own twin one of these days. Love, Brooke xoxo"
Signing off with a rather calligraphic way of writing her name, she folded the paper up and pushed it into the envelope, sealing it as she walked towards the owlery. She had a letter from Bryn and Ali to post back home too, and it seemed it was her turn to be the mailman. Sighing as she made her way up the path to the owlery, she remember why she stopped sending letters, it was simply to much effort to walk all the way up to the owlery and she filed away a thought to write next time that she wanted money for an owl to save the hassle. That way, all three of the Kennedy's could use it and not have to have a mile hike up a steel hill.
Pushing open the rotting door, the smell of faeces was another reason she remembered she disliked the place. Swearing aloud, she clenched her nose and jogged up the steps in the owlery, only to hear the familiar voice of Noah. Smirking, she kept hold of her nose as she spoke. "There's no return address because it's probably anthrax or some sort of incurable disease that you will unleash upon the world. Heck it's probably Pandora's box!" She smirked, walking over by him and looking either side of the package. "Heck Noah, it's you, you know you want to open it" she confirmed with a raised eyebrow, her voice sounding slightly distorted.
