Ah, another birthday.. This one made her officially legal, and as much as she should be tickled pink, she was getting.. Shudder, old. She wasn't even a student anymore, which made the trap door in the wall of the dungeons a little curious as to why an apprentice would want to shove their way into the Slytherin Common Room. It had let her in anyway, she'd the password on her, but still. Where was she supposed to sleep now that she was part of the faculty? All of the adults had homes, but it wasn't in her desire to go back to living with her family just yet. Stuck on what to do she commandeered her bed from a first year who was eyeing it for herself, and after the girl fled from the room Erys sat down with a couple of bounces on the familiar mattress. Morgana had come in from Hogsmeade with some candy, and unknowingly presented her with some, not aware of the fact that after eating candy developed a crazy sugar high, so by the time she went downstairs--or rather dashed, one might add--Erys was hopped up on sugar and hyper as someone on drugs. At least she had forgotten the fact that she was old, right? Though she probably scared the bejeezus out of some of the newer students present.. To see a member of the faculty running around laughing drunkenly. They eventually left, scattering either to their beds or the library or, well, anywhere she wasn't. Which was fine with her.
Bounding down the stairs again after running up them another time, the Slytherin glanced this way and that around the room, eventually settling for jumping-er, sitting, on the couch. Bouncing up and down for a while on the cushions she then levitated herself, whizzing around the room in the air and laughing while she did so. Though suddenly her flight pattern was out of control, and she was shooting at someone who had just entered the room, colliding with them and landing on top of them as they fell to the floor. "Ricky!" Erys exclaimed happily, her voice a high trill. He'd probably be able to tell what was up, hopefully she didn't scare him. "Its all Morgana's fault!" She laughed giddily once he asked if someone had given her candy.

The day had not been eventful for the Slytherin, more known as Ricky Daine. Or to some of the less informed people, the "great dane," It was insulting that he should be given a nickname that compared him to a dog, what did people expect? Him to run around yelling 'scooby dooby do' at the top of his lungs? Nu uh. He had been in lessons all day, fighting for a chance to get away so he could run down to Hogsmeade and pick up Erys' birthday present. He had purposly avoided her today because he didnt want to show up giftless, the two rarely saw eachother and he knew if he shown up without her gift she would only think he had forgotten her birthday, which really was not true in the slightest.
The next change for lessons happend and Ricky decided to skip out on the remaining two, giving him enough time to stroll down to the small village and not have to become all sweaty and tired out. The walk was easy enough, there wasnt much wind so Ricky didnt really have to worry about being blown away or something to the similar effect, sometimes the wind in Scotland could be horrific for him and his hair. As the village grew bigger, Ricky took his time browsing around the shops, he already knew what he was getting her, but he was fighting in his mind about it now. All the what if's coming to mind. He knew Erys could be hardnosed sometimes and she didnt do the gushy thing, neither did Ricky, but she was eighteen and he wanted to get her something special, something personal. In specific, a claddagh ring.
After a couple of hours wandering aimlessly, he couldnt put it off anymore and he had to go and get it now, since he couldnt think of anything else. Walking through the shop, he picked it up, bought it, the counterman giving him a very strange look but Ricky ignored it and left. Placing the hand with the ring inside it back into his pocket. The wind had picked up a little now but not much as he made his way back upto the castle, the sky darkening every second, in truth, he hadnt realised how late it actually was. He'd better hurry, he could only hope to catch her at this time, he didnt even know where she would be now. Surprise surprise.
Finally, after a hazerdous treck, nearly falling into the rose bushes, having a near death experiance with a tree, well not a near death, he just nearly walked into it. He finally got to the castle, exhausted and hungry, but he had no time for food, he had a girlfriend to find and spoil. He began his walk around the castle, unfortunatly it was not the best time to be wandering, as he so found out. A suit of armour blocked his way, refusing passage, portraits jeered at his windswept look and after that! A gryffindor prefect busted him and had the nerve to escort him back to the common room. Guess he wouldnt be giving Erys her present afterall.
How wrong he was...
"OOMPH!" Came his voice, he barely stepped through the trapdoor when something collided painfully with his chest, hurtling him backwards and landing awkwardly on his back, "What the--Erys?" His voice was rather confused as he looked at a very, not Erys like smile that graced her features, and the unusually cheery way she spoke his name. He listened to her ramble about Morgana, (wasnt she married now?) and something about candy. His eyes growing wide and she wittled, gentle he laid his hands on her shoulders and pushed her slightly so she slid down onto his legs, enabling him to actually sit up. "So, Morgana gave you candy and now your acting like your on drugs?" He said to narrow it down, his left eyebrow slightly raised and his smirk was on his face. "Would now be a good time to give the birthday girl her present? Or would she like to wait until she's calmer?"

"I'm acting like I'm on drugs?" Erys' eyes widened, as she bounced on his lap a little, refusing to believe it. "Nahhh.." She murmured with a highly uncharacteristic giggle, after which she froze, eyes bulging. "I am. Oh this is disgusting. Why are you with me again?" The Slytherin remarked with a sigh, still bouncing. It took her a moment to remember he had mentioned something along the lines of a present, and she wondered if she should really wait until the sugar had finished ricocheting through her system. "I.. Now." Erys decided with a small grin, deciding against doing the whole cliche routine of 'Oh, you didn't need to get me something!' because she was his damn girlfriend, and couples did that with each other. The sane ones, anyway. Curiosity was gnawing at her as he handed her the little black box, as she stared at it with an unfathomable expression. "I smell.. Silver." She murmured with an innocent little grin. It didn't even matter that they were pretty much blocking the entrance to the common room, though the trap door would probably get irritated and try to bump them forcefully back inside.
Gathering it in her palm Erys lifted the lid, hands freezing as her eyes fell on what was inside. It wasn't fancy, with no inlaid jewels or gold, but it was perfect. A perfect little Claddagh ring. It was.. It was beautiful. Her face was set in stone, a reaction having not yet formed on her face, but her mind was reeling. "I.." She murmured, not taking her eyes off of it. "You got me a Claddagh ring." Voice still a whisper, she raised her eyes up to him, the irises turning a faint tinge of lavender. Had he known she was Irish? Possibly, either that or it was a successful shot in the dark. She tried smiling, so he would understand by the glimmer in her eyes that she was infinitely grateful and awed by his present, but the weight of their seperation this past month struck, and tears were brimming in her eyes as the strength collapsed. "I missed you." She murmured into his neck as she wrapped her arms around him, hopefully reeling in the tears as to not soak his shirt.
Was this how they would always be? Drifting apart? Erys never wanted that to happen, never again.

Ricky gave a laugh as she repeated what he had said, "Yeah, you're acting like it." The giggle proved she had definatly had enough candy for one night, and apparently, as her eyes widened and she became rather still, which he was happy about since she was bouncing on his empty stomach which, due to lack of food was hurting anyway, but someone bouncing on it just made it a little bit more painful, as he sat up, his hand gently massaged it as he gave a smile to her question. "Well I need a bodyguard and what better way to make sure you stick around?" He joked, "Always better to have a bodyguard with claws." The edges of his mouth twitched into a smile as he shook his head slightly, he was with her because he wanted to be with her, she knew that and he knew that. The one thing Ricky was happy about was the fact she wasnt being the typical girl about presents, he didnt really like that in others and it sort of annoyed him, 'oh you didnt have to get me anything,' well he knew that but if he didnt want to he wouldnt now would he? Thankfully, Erys seemed to have noticed that so she didnt play with words or mince them when she said she wanted it now. Pulling out a small black box, he hadnt had time to wrap it since he was jumped on the moment he entered the common room, he watched as she stared at it. "It wont bite you know" He half laughed as the well of nervousness came up in him again as he began to wonder if she would actually like it or not. "Open it and find out what it is." He smiled when she confessed she smelt silver, damn those cat abilities, she could smell his present before she even opened it.
The seconds ticked by once she opened the box, there was nothing on her face, he couldnt tell what she was thinking, there was no reaction, no expression and his instant thought was 'she hates it.' Running a hand through his hair, the pair sat there in silence, if this was a bust what was he going to do? He supposed he could give her the same present she gave him for his birthday, a smile filled his face as he remembered that, his eyes flickered back on her, just as she spoke, her eyes still on the ring inside, her voice barely audible, did she forget he didnt have cat ears and couldnt hear every sound, but thinking through, he realised what she had said. "Yeah I did." He smiled to her, taking the ring from her, out of the box and slipping it on her finger, the heart facing towards her. In truth, he didnt know she was Irish, he had no idea. "Wear it that way," He said indicating the heart facing to her, "It means you belong to someone, means you belong to me." In the sense of non possession of course. If he had known she was Irish, there would have been no reason for him to tell her that, but in truth, he would have anyway, just for the fact of actually saying it.
Her eyes were on his now, a lavendar shade and he swore he saw a glimmer in them. He understood that she was happy with the gift, but when the tears welled up he was a little confused. He didnt want to make her cry and all sorts of things began to run through his head. Three simple words cut through his worries though as she collapsed on him, her head buried in his neck. Ricky wrapped his arms around her and cradled her protectivly into him. "I missed you too." They had been seperate a lot this month, the added seperation of the summer too since his parents insisted they spend it with their family in Australia, which was annoying as he had had plans but there was nothing he could do about it. He was in his seventh year now, the work load was piling on, and unlike last year, Erys was no longer a student and therefor didnt have classes with him, last year at least they saw eachother then. He wouldnt allow himself to be another dissapointment, another heartbreak for her, he had promised himself he would always be there for her, no matter how difficult or how long they were apart.
"You know I'm never going anywhere," He said simply, stroking her hair as he allowed her to cry into his neck, "Dont you?" It was something he had to clear up first. "Now come on, dry your eyes, its your birthday you shouldnt be sad. Time for some fun!"

"I know." Erys whispered, upping the volume a little for his human ears; she had almost forgotten he wasn't as attuned as her. Sure, call it a moment of weakness, but they had been together for nine months at least. This had lasted longer than anything she'd ever known, and she doubted she'd be able to handle it if he up and left her like the last one did. Slowly lifting her head away to wipe tears from her cheek, and then the ones from his neck, she laughed, the sound small and shaky compared to what it was earlier. "What did you have in mind?" Lifting a finger to admire the ring then dropping it suddenly--it would make her cry to see it again, she'd have to wait for another glimpse--the Slytherin flicked her eyes around the room, finding gratefully that they had no audience. It had happened before and frankly the second years dearly wished they hadn't been present for the unleashing of her firey wrath.
"Drinking? Pranks?" Figures she'd mention alcohol. Really should get that checked, hey? In all actuality the curiousity Erys withheld was ruffling her fur inside, she was wondering what they could do that was better than sitting together and watching her cry. Hah, kidding, but still, she might tear up again if they just sit and talk some more. Where was Morgana? She was married now yeah? My, how time flied when you haven't seen someone.. Must be an arranged marriage. Jay was suitable enough, and he was Slytherin, so everything was a-okay. She'd probably have horsewhipped Ricky if he'd ever proposed to her in the past year, they were much too young, and even though she knew he was best for her--not sure if she was best for him or not, because of the claws and all that--she wanted to wait.
