Things in the castle were not really what Dia would have classed as normal and it had been affecting everybody. The staff seemed more stressed then normal, the students where actually nervous about walking around the castle and the portraits were, well as Dan had called them the other night over dinner, they were turning into the creatures of nightmares. Out of everyone Dan had been showing the stress more then most and this had not gone unnoticed by Dia. He had not been eating as much and hardly sleeping and his once boyish charm was fading due to the bags under his eyes. He had been the very topic that herself and Girty had been discussing over Breakfast that very morning, for Dia she had found that the safest topic to talk about with Girty was the topic of Dan and then normally the conversation had flowed from there.
The sisters-in-law had now said goodbye and went their own separate ways, Girty off to surprise Alex and Dia was going to spend some time with her Ravenclaw’s. She could not help but feel like she had been neglecting her role as Head of House and so had decided that she has best show her face in the Common Room if just to reassure them that she had not been converted to a Hufflepuff.
Stepping over the threshold into the Common Room Dia looked around with a soft smile filling her fair features. Over the years the room had hardly changed, the same portraits hung on the walls, the same worn out rugs were spread across the floor and most likely even the same books were crammed onto the shelves. It was like a time capsule of memories and emotions where generations of Ravenclaw students have spend their days being watched over by the marble statue of their house founder.
Settling down in one of the arm chairs Dia greeted students as they passed through, has a few simple conversations and excused even the odd one or two from their Astronomy work. It seemed sitting here in this very room, the fire crackling quickly in the corner and the painted stairs on the ceiling above had put the Professor in an extremely good mood. It was just a shame it was not going to last.
