Dipping his quill into his ink pot Dean carefully wiped off the excesses before carrying on with his Astronomy assignment. Had it been for any other lesson for any other teacher he would not be taking this much care, he would not care if his words looked little squiggles or if parts of it smudged but this was for her. As he carefully formed his letters, joining them up carefully to produce his neatest handwriting there was an almighty BANG in the common room. The boy’s quill slipped and his ‘R’ now looked more like a ‘B’, now that was not to be born.
Dean was not a naturally aggressive person and he never truly got angry but when someone made him make a mistake on his Astronomy work then something was going to happen. With a heated gaze Dean looked up from his parchment and glared around the Common Room trying to find out who had caused the disturbance. There was a group of laughing fourth year’s sitting in the corner and he guessed it would be them and so pushing himself out of his chair he strode over to them with great purpose ready to chastise them but then…BANG! There is was again and it did not come from the male Hufflepuff’s but a group of girls…yep girls.
Dean’s ears suddenly start to burn red and the thought of having a go at anyone suddenly vanished from him, but now the problem was he was standing in the middle of the Hufflepuff Common Room feeling like a total prat.

It was a quiet day for a change as Alice sat comfortably on a couch with a book in her lap. Dean Hogarth was to her left on a desk with his homework, most likely his Astronomy seeing as he was taking his sweet time with it. A group of fourth year boys were in the north west corner of the room whispering and sending comments to the group of girls opposite them who, in return, were in fits. Alice tried her best to ignore the pathetic googly eyes the groups were sending each other and it was working until a rather loud BANG sent her jumping in her seat.
She looked around dumbstruck trying to find the source. The sound must have startled Dean as well because he was already up and heading towards the group of boys but when another loud BANG sounded through the room, both of their eyes darted to the girls. One of them was holding a few explosive snaps; Alice absolutely hated those things. Dean was now standing pretty much in front of her, his ears a bright red. He wasn't going to do anything now so it was up to Alice.
Alice closed her book and tossed it on the cushion next to her. Shaking her head while she got up, she confronted the girls. "Oi!" she said rather loudly. "People are trying to study here. It'd make my day if you'd either take that elsewhere or stop all together."
The girls obviously didn't hear her because they continued to snicker and stare at Alice as if she was speaking another language. Alice transferred her weight to one side, "Let me make this clear for you. Do that again, and you won't have any hair to flip in their direction," she said nodding towards the boys who now looked stunned. Feeling as if she still might not have gotten to them, she reached out and snatched the rest of their explosive snaps.
Alice headed back to the couch feeling a little triumphant now. She stopped in front of Dean and flashed him a playful grin, "All Settled."

It has to be sad course of events when a male fifth year had to be saved looking like an idiot by a female. But here it was, Dean Hogarth having to be saved from the pits of embarrassment by Alice Haile, admittedly the female Hufflepuff had controlled the situation remarkably well and had Dean not been so petrified of the opposite sex he most likely would have given her a round of applause for such a tremendous display of authority. The problem though was that he was scared and as she walked over towards him, a wide grin on her face Dean could feel his face turn the same shade as a beetroot.
“Oh.” Dean muttered…was that all he could say? Here was someone other then Neth willing to have some form of social interaction with him and all he could say was ‘oh’ Swallowing the lump in his throat Dean tried to summon some other words from the dark depths of his brain. “Th-that was…er…you showed them!”
His eyes grew wide with horror as he could not believe he just said that, he would have rather stood there staring stupidly at Alice then say that. The boy’s head dropt and he looked at his shoes wishing that he could just slip back to his astronomy assignment and get lost writing the assignment for Professor Owen.
