Stephanie walked into the common room holding a couple of books, ready to do some studying. she looked up and found that the room was empty, except for this one girl who sat on the couch reading a book. "Muggle Studies" is what the book said on the cover. Kayleen grunted and went to the opposite couch putting her books on the table, well all, but one. She sat down and began to read, but humming while she read. Stephanie was always trying to make studying fun so she often hummed songs and made them fun, happy, cheerful songs.
Kayleen looked up at the girl reading her book and then looked back down. The room was really quiet except for her humming and no one seemed to be coming in today, it must be, because it was sunny warm and a good day to be out by the lake or outside. She could be practicing qudditch, but she wanted to study, her parents where proud of her grades and she wanted it to stay that way. She didn't want to be outside, because Kyle, her brother was out there with his girlfriend and they always told her what to do when she was around them. She sat there humming her song, hoping that it wasn't bothering the girl.

For once in a long while, Brooke Kennedy was studying. Yes, and on Muggle studies no less. The day had been rather a let down and so in a vain attempt to do something, anything, she had settled down to try and study. She wasn't a bad student, but she really didn't like doing homework instead preferring to be an average student in class.
As she sat curled up in the sofa in complete silence, she was pleased that nobody else was in the common room or she would have no chance of being able to concentrate. People seemed to end up coming in and making a huge noise which really annoyed her and she ended up back at square one. Brooke and studying really did not mix.
Giving a sigh, she wrote down a sentence after reading a page on muggle electronics before she heard the common room door open. Brooke didn't want to lift her eyes from her parchment in fear of her concentration evaporating, but her senses made her and she flicked her eyes up to see a girl called Stephanie. Ignoring her just because she actually wanted to work for once, she poised her quill back over the parchment and began reading the next chapter in the book.
It wasn't long before the girl began making a noise and then humming. Brooke's teeth gritted, and she was sure if she was holding a pencil she would of broken it in half out of frustration. Rolling her eyes, she tried to concentrate once more on the book but after re-reading the same line three times she sighed and slammed the book shut. "Do you mind, I'm trying to concentrate and your incessant humming is driving me nuts!"

Stephanie curled her feet up on the couch and grabbed her coffee that was on the table. She took a sip and then concentrated on her book again. Writing a few notes down without looking up from her book. She was still humming not paying attention to anything else. She glanced at her notes to make sure they where neat and then went back to reading about gnomes. This assignment bugged her, because gnomes was a child topic she rather be learning bigger and better stuff, but it was her homework so she had to do it unfortunately. She glanced at the girl who gritted her teeth as to saying something was bugging her.
Stephanie looked down at her book, humming louder and louder, but she didn't understand the concept that it was bugging this girl, who's name was Brooke she believed. She looked at her notes again jotting something down and then back at the book when the girl spoke. "Do you mind, I'm trying to concentrate and your incessant humming is driving me nuts!" "I am sorry I am bugging you, but humming helps me, but feel free to leave, it would make the room brighter at least." Stephanie replied dryly still looking at her book.

Brooke stared at the girl as she dared to answer her back with such a remark. How dare she, who the hell did she think she was, the queen of sheba? Brooke snarled as she felt her temperature rising and the blood boiling up towards her head. Brooke got wound up so easily and she didn't particularly like other people in general except for her friends. People were idiots according to her, and this girl was just another idiot.
"How about you leave seems as though I was here first, brat" she grimaced before raising an eyebrow, not taking her eyes of the younger year. She smirked slightly before pointing back over to the door with her quill where the girl just entered. "The door's over there, don't let it hit your ass on the way out" she continued before putting her quill to paper once again, 'Although I wish it would' she thought to herself.
It was no good trying to concentrate now, the girl had wound her up so easily, which wasn't all that much of an achievement to be fair. Brooke could feel the girls eyes on her and so in defeat of her muggle studies, she sighed and looked back up to the girl, propping her elbow on the arm of the sofa. "Well? What are you waiting for, to sprout wings?!"

Stephanie immediately looked up from her book shutting it tight with the bookmark marking it. She threw it to the side of her and began to get angry.
"How dare you say I am a brat. Your the brat, but I take that back your little sister is so much worse than you." Stephanie snapped back that remark so fast you couldn't believe she was still breathing. She doesn't get angry with Gryffindor's much, nor Slytherin, but now she was angry and this was her slytherin family line of blood coming out of her.
"I don't see why I should leave, you should leave and be careful wit the door, but you know what your brother isn't much better than you either, except the face that he is cute, smarter and has a better personality then you. So feel free to leave, because I'm not. Finally Stephanie realized why she was in here. She was in here for Bryn, because he was cute and she liked him, but she dare not say that in front of Brooke.
Stephanie could feel the anger inside of her she wanted to be in Slytherin, she was the first family member in centuries not in Slytherin, and that was the only thing that bugged her. "you can sprout wings and leave, but I am staying right here." Stephanie snapped. She wasn't going to be able to study at all anymore.

Brooke's eyes widened as she listened to this girl spout of rubbish about the Kennedy family. Brooke was slightly in shock at how the girl even dared speak about them like that and she stood up from her seat and took a big stride over to her. "You must be really really stupid to insult my family to my face" she emphasized.
Brooke was definately not one to mess with, for one she was a Kennedy and two she was like a reinforced one at that. She hated a lot of stuff, and now this girl was on that same list. "Hey!" she said defensively. "As if Bryn would ever want to go anywhere near a piece of garbage like you that disgraces the name of Gryffindor. He's too good for you anyway, you're just NOTHING!" Brooke said, pushing the girl into the chair so she landed back in it normally again. Brooke then pulled her want out and pointed it at the girls face.
"Don't you ever insult my family again or you'll have more to worry about than just your face" she snarled as she tapped the girls nose with the end of her wand and cast Densaugeo.

Stephanie watched with a smirk on her face as she saw Brooke's reaction with her rude comebacks. Stephanie was suppose to be in Slytherin not this baby house, but that was mood point. It was over and there's nothing she could do about it, but act like a Slytherin. The main thing that bugged her was her brothers girlfriend and the fact of her being in Gryffindor and not in Slytherin.
"You must be really really stupid to insult my family to my face" The girl said. "I'm not stupid I'm just telling the truth. As for yourself I would keep your mouth shut, you don't know who I am and what I'll do to you." Stephanie snapped.
"Hey!" she said defensively. "As if Bryn would ever want to go anywhere near a piece of garbage like you that disgraces the name of Gryffindor. He's too good for you anyway, you're just NOTHING!". The girl said rudely. "Excuse me, I believe I said he was better than you, not that I liked him. Your brother is much sweeter than you, why don't you admit the fact you can't get a boyfriend and nobody wants you."Stephanie said coldly. She wasn't putting up with games anymore and she was sure as hell not putting up with crap from this girl.
"Don't you ever insult my family again or you'll have more to worry about than just your face". Brook snarled as she tapped Stephanie's nose and then pulled her wand away. Stephanie's teeth grew quickly looking like rabbit teeth, but that didn't stop her. Stephanie quickly grabbed her wand out and stood up, pointing her wand at Brooke, pushing her back against a wall holding her wand at Brooke's throat, making it impossible to get to her wand or escape. "I said watch who your talking to. You don't know who I am or what I can do, so you'd better be careful, or else. She snarled not letting her grip on Brooke loosen a tiny bit.
