The soft strumming of a guitar filled the air, if you listened closely, you could also hear singing,
"Narenai to sono naka de bukiyou na aiseoi jikan ni oware iya ni natteta hibi sukoshi jiyuu kanjita ato nannen ka sureba omoide ni naru dakara wasurekaketeta kioku to ima wo futo kasanete mitan da taisetsuna mono kakae sugite aruki durakunatta kyou
Hikaru smiled softly. The song had been popular when his grandparents were young, and it had become his lullaby. His grandmother had always sang it, and now Hikaru sung it himself. He knew that if he had not been a teacher, he most likely would've gone into music. People said he had an incredible voice, but of course, like most people, he found something about himself to belittle. Sure his voice was good, but it wasn't that good.
Itsudatte bokura kitto daredatte kanashimi ya yowasa ikutsu mo ikitsurete dare ga kattatte fumidasu chikara wo kitto soko niwa tairyou no egao ga matte iru
He picked up the pace on his acoustic smiling as memories flooded his mind. Memories of his childhood, he had been so happy. Like most people, he wondered why his parents had to die, but also, unlike some people, Hikaru had accepted that there was nothing he could do to change it. Besides, as long as Hikaru never forget them, they would never truly be gone. And he would never forget them, for they lived on inside his heart.
Tsurateku iya de dare ka ushinai kaketa sonna fuu ni jibun no hou kara tsunaida te hodokenai you ni
This was probably Hikaru's favorite verse. He loved how it was saying that no matter what happened, love would always be there.
Tatoeba kimi ga kizutsuita tomerline mo dare no ai datte nandomo iro wo kaeru tsukarete boku ni yorikakaru hi wa donna kimi de mo dakishimeru kara
Another well written verse, all of it was well written to be truthful. Whoever had written this, had some incredible talent.
Jibun wo shinjite..." Believe in yourself. These were words that Hikaru always tried to live by.((Song is Care by Jin Akanishi. English translation and Youtube video link are below)) English Translation: Translation go to the bottom of the page YouTube Vid: Youtube

There was screaming inside her head, as well as a lot of pounding. The night before had been well it had been a bit too much for her to take. She knew better she thought she was trying to control herself but she kept falling back into the same bad habit. Knowing that you had a problem was the first step to dealing with it, her mother had written her a few days ago. Apparently that was bull because she knew she had a problem and she simply embraced it. Luckily, she had managed not to show up to classes drunk, but she was having trouble showing up sans hang over. This made her a bit mean but not so much so that students had reason to complain.
Today she was nursing a bad hangover, that concoction the bartender had whipped up for her practically knocked her off her bar stool, she didn't remember anything after that and something told her she should be glad for that. So now she was headed to the staffroom for a strong cup of coffee, that seemed to make her feel better. Standing just outside the door she heard someone inside singing. It actually sounded pretty amazing. No teacher she had ever met here at Hogwarts looked as if they could carry a note.
Having to see who had this magnificent voice she pushed open the door to find the new flying instructor there. Guitar in hand strumming as if he had been born and bred to play. Vicky couldn't help it she closed the door quietly and stood there a moment listening to the unfamiliar words in the unfamiliar language. Somehow her headache had disappeared and she felt indescribable. What was he doing teaching, he should be on tour somewhere with a voice like that.
When he was done Vicky couldn't help feel saddened somehow, staring at him she just had to say "What are you doing teaching here? You sound amazing, you should be somewhere around fans and a stage, and roadies" giggling she then walked into the room staring at him seriously wondering why.

Hikaru jumped as a voice suddenly sounded from behind him. He turned to see, of course, a teacher. He smiled, blushing slightly. "Oh, hello." he replied, voice accented softly with Japanese.
He listened to her question and thought about it. He looked at the guitar in his hands, why was he here teaching? Then, he looked around him. There was his answer. Teaching was something he loved. Yes, he loved singing as well, but teaching would always be first in his heart.
Hikaru looked up with a smile. "I love kids, and I love to teach, and I love to learn new things, and when you're a teacher, you do learn new things. You may not notice it at first, but you do."
He laughed quietly, "And I doubt I'm anywhere near good enough to have fans, a stage, and roadies." he quipped with a smile.

Vicky started to beam at him. There weren't a lot of people who would give up something like fame in order to teach. There are many who would give up teaching to be famous she was pretty sure of that. He truly had to love his job to want to do it because he could definitely be a good singer. If she was a record executive she'd have given him a deal no problem.
"You really love teaching, that's commendable but you do have an amazing voice, it made me feel a whole lot better. What was that song anyway, I didn't catch a word of it but it sure sounded beautiful."
The coffee pot in the corner had been recently filled she was quite glad for that because she did need her caffeine fix. Pouring the hot brown liquid into a cup she leaned against the counter both hands wrapped around the mug as if holding in the heat. Moving the cup up to her lips she takes that first sip an mmming sound coming from her.
Once satisfied she looked back at the teacher who had fascinated her. "You been playing long?"

Hikaru smiled, "Yes, I do." he replied. "The title is Care. It's Japanese." He looked down at his guiatar thoughtfully. How long had he been playing? "My whole life I guess." he replied slowly. "I got my first guitar when I was about four."
He smiled, "Oh, forgive me for not introducing myself. I am Hikaru Tanaka. I was the Occlumency teacher here last year, but I don't think we had a chance to meet before I had to leave. I'm the flying teacher now."

She had thought it was something like that. He was so skilled it seemed like he had been playing since in the womb. Vicky was a sucker for music and musicians. She thought she had outgrown that phase but after the way she gushed at him earlier she knew that wasn't true.
"It sounds like it, you have no clue how good you sound. The music brought me in here." She was only half joking, the music had intrigued her. "Would you mind telling me what the song is about Hikaru. I do remember you I'm just sorry we never got the chance to talk until now. I'm Victoria Potter, I teach History of Magic." Japanese (I'm going to assume Japanese) had never sounded like a romantic language before but he did make it work.

Hikaru gave a small laugh, "Well thank you." he said with a slight blush, he wasn't used to people, especially pretty women, commenting him so much. He shrugged apolgetically, "I actually don't really know. It was written when my grandparents were young, so it's actually quite an old song. It was my lullaby when I was a child."
He bit his bottom lip, blinking a few times as he mulled the question over in his mind. It was an odd habit of his. Finally, he spoke, "If I were to give my interpretation of it though; I would say that it's about love, and caring, and never giving up, and just believing in yourself." He gave a slightly cheeky grin, "You know, all that mushy stuff!"
He smiled at Victoria, she really was quite pretty. "So, Victoria Potter? A decsendant of Harry Potter by any chance?" he asked curiously. He had always been interested in family lineage.

An old lullaby that sounded rather sweet to her. She didn't think her parents had ever sung to her not even when she was little. That was a very nice memory to have and a nice song to have a memory of. Vicky was shocked that she found the man so interesting. He was very cute, seemed genuinely nice, and had a voice most music artist today would kill for. Odd thing to find in the Hogwarts teachers lounge.
When he told her his interpretation of what the song meant Vicky couldn't help but think that those were all the things she had been looking for. That hit close to home and her face turned a bit sad, but she soon righted it not wanting Hikaru to think it was anything he did.
Lucky for her he changed the subject asking her the one question a lot of people liked to ask her. "I get that a lot I don't think I am my parents never mentioned it, but who knows. That would be an interesting facet to my rather dull life."

Hikaru thought he noticed Vicky's expression sadden for a moment, but decided not to comment. It was probably just a trick of the light. He smiled at her response to his question. "Oh? Well, maybe we should do some research on that? It certainly would be interesting." He smiled slightly, "My family is descended from Emperor Keiko. Very distantly related of course." He laughed, "I'm sure your life isn't that dull!"
"So, have you lived in this area your whole life?" he asked curiously. He loved meeting and learning about new people.

"Ooh related to an emperor sounds fancy. See you tell people something like you're related to an emperor you may get an ooh or an ah. My well people seem interested and as soon as I tell them I don't think I'm any relation they loose focus." Giggling a minute she shook her head and soon took another sip of coffee. That head shake was a mistake because suddenly the headache that seemed to have gone away earlier returned with a vengeance.
She groaned wishing she had thought to take an aspirin. Moving from the counter she walked over to the table and put her head down on it. She wasn't trying to be rude or anything she just suddenly felt sick again. "I have to learn to stay in at night, but yes one of these days I would love to look into my history and see if I'm related." Another painful throb hit her and she felt like retching. "You wouldn't happen to have an aspirin would you?"

Hikaru laughed slightly, "Well, we're not exactly sure how we're related. The most logical answer seems to be that one of our great-grandmothers, I don't know how many times removed. was one of the Emperor's concubine. So...yeah."
He frowned sympathetically when she asked for an aspirin. "No, I'm sorry, I don't."

She giggled a little though she hadn't meant to. She was pretty sure the concubine comment wasn't meant to be funny, but her mind was off. She sort of felt like she was still a bit drunk. The alcohol not completely wearing off and still leaving its lasting effects. Her head throbbed again when he informed her he had no aspirins. Of course he didn't not everyone walked around with a daily hangover. She should learn to carry some around might make mornings like this easier.
Realizing it had been a while since she spoke she picked up her head but only slightly and said "What a good impression I'm making on you Hikaru." Again she giggled putting her head back down. She seriously needed to stop being such a lush, it wasn't really that attractive as witnessed by that very moment. Hoping her fellow professor didn't think less of her she looked up again, her dark hair framing her face and offered a smile.

Professor Kridik's footsteps echoed through the corridor as he walked toward the Staff Room, looking for a place to hide from the crowd of students that would no doubt be arriving in the corridors with in the next hour and a half. He held a heavy book, that looked to be from an ancient library under his left arm while he held an empty mug at his side in his right hand. Yawning, he turned to the door to the staff room and gave the password to the gargoyle that protected the door.
Opening the door, Errol saw two other teachers in the room. "I'm sorry for interrupting," he said, seeing the two talking, "I'm just trying to find a place I can read without disturbance. May I join you?" He walked farther in and set the heavy book on a coffee table that stood next to a wall before heading toward the coffee pot to fill his empty mug with the 'Elixir of Life.'
He turned back to the other teachers in the room, "I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Errol Kridik, the new Ancient Runes professor."

Hikaru laughed softly. "Well, you're making a better impression than I'll ever make!" Suddenly, he heard the door open, and he looked up to see another teacher enter. The new comer introduced himself as Errol Kridik, the Ancient Runes professor.
Hikaru smiled slightly, his shyness coming back. "Hello." he said in his softly accented voice. He smiled again, "Of course, feel free to join us. I'm Hikaru Tanaka, Flying professor."

Vicky wanted to pick her head up and smile at Hikaru but at that moment it just hurt too much to do so. So she mumbled her hair in the way muffling the sound but she thought he'd get the message anyway. The headache had returned with a vengeance she had to start remembering some of those old hangover remedies she'd once learned they used to work wonders though most of the time you were so sick after taking them you forgot you were hungover all together.
When the door opened Vicky heard the students outside yelling screaming, all of this seemed to make her head hurt worse. She was glad when the door was shut once more but that just meant that there was now someone new in the room with them. As much as she hated to do it she lifted her head.
A new professor one she didn't know walked in, it seemed that every time she came out of her room the school had a new teacher. Why was it just so hard to keep professors there? She had no idea what the problem was but that was just as well maybe if someone couldn't hack it they should pack up their stuff and leave. She knew of a few teachers who should do it, actually on in particular. Smirking Vicky looked up her head gave an almighty throb as she tried to look normal. "Oh yes please join us I'm professor Potter, Victoria Potter. I teach History of Magic. Head of Gryffindor House too just don't know how that happened." Now she smiled and this only made things worse. Ahhhhhh she needed to stop the drinking.
