"No, no, no"
"Yes, yes, yes."
"ugh."
Jeremy ran his hand through his hair, ruffling it slightly. The boy had spent all day, running up and down rogue stairs, arguing with armor to let him pass, and now, his hair was flattening. Jeremy just wanted to sit in front of the fire with a good book and fall asleep. However, the way everything was looking, that seemed impossible now!
"IT WAS URG!"
"What? I'm sorry I can't hear you...speak louder, my boy!"
"URG!!!!"
"Now, shouting unintelligible words at me will get you nowhere." the lady in the portrait said. She broke down into a fit of giggles. "My you are a cute one." She said, eying him with her spectacle she had been used for reading. She giggled again and then flipped the page of her book.
Jeremy groaned and again ran his hand through his hair. He began to pace slightly. The question had been simple. It hadn't even been a riddle. Which of the following did not provoke one of the bloody goblin rebellions of the 17th and 18th centuries? The logical answer was of course Urg. Jeremy had thought it through and through. It had to be. Urg was a goblin leader, but he was only an activist, never provoking anyone. However, the doorway to the Ravenclaw common room, the door way to a nice relaxing night, was still closed and blocked by an insufferable and deaf reading lady!!!
"Please, please, please..." Jeremy begged. "The answer is URG! URG the unclean! UUUURRRGGGG!" Jeremy bellowed when the lady didn't even look up at him. He groaned loudly. The lady looked up from her book.
"Well, if your so unclean my boy, why don't you go take a nice long bath!" She smiled sweetly at him, and then burst into a fit of giggles.
"AHH!! URG! URG I tell you! URG!" Jeremy said, basically ripping his rather stylish hair from his head. "Look at me! URG!"
The lady looked up again from her book. She smiled devilishly. "Oh, hello. The Question is 'Which of the following did not provoke one of the bloody goblin rebellions of the 17th and 18th centuries?' "
"Ugh." Jeremy muttered in desperation, this was getting ridiculous.
"No, sorry, Ugh is not the correct answer." The lady said, tears running down her face as she kept from laughing. Either there was something wrong with her, or she was really enjoying Jeremy's pain.
Jeremy groaned. "No, its URG..URG! Ahh, bloody hell." He swore.
"Language my good man!" The woman said, standing from her seat. Jeremy sighed again and paced a couple steps.
"Help..." He muttered.
"No, Help is still not the correct answer." Jeremy could see the tears running down the woman's face as she held the book over her mouth to hide from her laughter.

Miss Laney Roberts had been in the castle for only a few hours and already the stress was getting to her. Professor Vaid had requested a five page essay on Polyjuice Potion that had to include its ingredients, purposes, and how it could be helpful and harmful. Professor O'Donnell had also asked her students to read seven chapters and write a summary of what they had read out of their class book as well. She was also sure her first night wouldn't be spent lazing around the common room with her friends and instead, her hazy dream of relaxation would be replaced with hall monitoring and other duties that had been bestowed upon her when the new title of Head Girl.
She hugged her potions book against her chest as her and a classmate from last year talked about the class they were bound to share once more.
"Laney, why can't you just accept the fact that we're bound to be in Potions together again?"
Carolanne smirked before raising her eyebrows to answer, "Well for one, who says I'll even show up to class? I may have too much on my plate for Potions this year."
Her friend, Alice, didn't buy it. Potions was a class Laney loved for some reason or another and would never believe that the Ravenclaw would drop that simple class for any reason.
"Whatever Lane," her friend said with an unconvinced chuckle, "I've got to go. Mum will be waiting for an owl and you know how she gets. I'll see you later," she waved before heading off in the direction of the Hufflepuff common rooms.
"Yeah, later Alice," she called after her friend but she was already out of ear shot. Carolanne sighed, she was getting a little anxious to see the inside of the common room for once but as the entrance came into sight, she started to get less anxious and more frustrated. Just what she needed, trouble already. She approached cautiously, listening intently on the argument. Apparently, the new painting that guarded the entrance decided to be a little... difficult. When the boy cried for a little help, she couldn't help but let a little giggle escape. She had these days as well.
It took her a minute to realize who the voice belong to, but as she moved ever so slowly around to get a good look at the boy, a grin spread across her face. Instantly, a hand went to her hip and she stood with her weight shifted to once side. She tilted her head just ever so slightly to the left and let a sly expression cross her features.
"My, my. If it isn't the incurable Jerm. Never thought I'd see the day where you didn't get what you wanted." The corners of Laney's mouth curved and suddenly, her smirk turned into a grin.

At this point, Jeremy was very tempted to take the painting of her hook and just throw the whole entire painting down the stupid hallway. Jeremy through up his hands in a fit of angst. The witch in the portrait started to giggle under her book again. "Great, I'm so glad that you find this funny. So glad." he emphasized again.
Jeremy jumped a little as he heard the voice behind him. She knew from the nickname that it would be none other than his old friend, Laney. He turned, hands still in despite positions on either side of his head. He grinned. He couldn't think of a good comeback, so he let his arms fall. "She...I can't...It all her fault!" Jeremy said, pointing his finger at the portrait.
The old woman immediately stopped a laughing and stood up. "My fault, just because you are an insufferable little brat of a..."
Jeremy began to ignore her. Her walked closer to Laney and pulled the book from her grasp. "Potions." He flipped through the pages and then handed it back to her, "Got slammed pretty hard eh, for the first day back." Jeremy smiled. "Well, if you want to get into the common room, you deal with the hag." He said, slipping his hand behind her waist and pushing her forward.

Carolanne watched with much amusement when he turned to face her, both hands on his face. He was blaming the old woman in the picture and she sent a wary look in her direction before turning to the accusing boy in front of her. She was on the verge of busting out in laughter but she fought back the urge and pursed her lips in a tight line. She couldn’t say anything to him, or she didn’t know what to say to him. Either way, she raised an eyebrow in his direction before shaking her head. She really didn’t want to know what they were on about; it was bad enough to have to watch Jeremy get crazed like that. Alright, it was hilarious. Besides, she hadn’t seen Jeremy in a while and the way he looked at the moment was priceless. It was a shame Laney didn’t have some form of camera on her.
Jeremy headed for her and she furrowed her brow at him in a questioning way. He grabbed the potions book from her hand and the look on Carolanne’s face was giving off the impression that she had just been slapped across the face. She stared at him as if he offended her then placed her newly freed hand on her other hip. ”Hey Laney, How was your summer?” she mumbled, trying her best to imitate her Jerm’s voice, ”Oh you know, the usual. Pain and suffering, dealing with that hippie mother of mine, oh, and I somehow ended up falling up the stairs again,” she answered herself.
Jeremy held out her book for her and she snatched it back with much force, ”Well its good to see you too, Jeremy,” she said before shoving her hand against his shoulder. She wasn’t quite strong enough to force him a few steps back, but it was enough to get her point across; if there was a point that is.
Carolanne felt a pair of hands grab onto her waist and suddenly she was moving forward. Her eyes nearly popped out of her eyes as she grabbed his hands and pulled them away from her body. ”Whoa, whoa, whoa!” she said before turned on her heels to face him. ”These hips belong to me, Mister. You need permission to grab them.” She tried to sound serious but when she heard the words that had just come out of her mouth, a short laugh escaped from her before she could stop it. She held up her hands as if surrendering to him, ”The hag is your problem; I can wait to get into the common room. If anything, I’ll crash in the room of requirement tonight.”
(Yuck.)

Jeremy eyed Laney. Was he really the "How was your summer?" kind of guy? He really didn't care, but it was Laney after all. Laney would always be like a sister that he awkwardly flirted with. Really awkwardly, especially when he thought about it. Jeremy sighed. "I'm sure it wasn't all that bad." He said. "Mine was, boring." He couldn't think of another word for it. What else was knew, his family was horrible to him. Stuck up...losers, he thought as Laney pushed him. He smiled and grabbed his shoulder, rotating it. "What was that for!?" He said, smiling at her.
Jeremy let go of her as he pushed her forward. "Oh please..." he said, trying to get her to help him. It was a no go. "What!?" He said, stunned that she would really leave him out here. "What, in our little spot with the couch and the cookies." They were damn good cookies too. He sighed. "Please help me." He pleaded. "She hates me, I dont know what I did, but please. All I want in my bed, my nice, comfy, soft bed. Don't take that away from my Carolanne Roberts." He said, sliding into a slight depression.

Maybe that wasn’t how Jeremy would’ve started a conversation with Laney but she would’ve thought he would’ve said something better than Potions. What kind of ‘hi’ was that? She rolled her eyes at him when he claimed his summer was boring. Maybe Laney should’ve invited him over during the long holiday, she was sure he might’ve had fun. But then she remembered the fact that her entire summer was spent with Max and knew that if Jeremy would’ve come to visit, he would’ve felt like a third wheel of sorts. Maybe Christmas she’s invite him for some fun or talk him into staying at Hogwarts with her.
Laney raised an eyebrow at him, ”That? Oh it was nothing,” she said blowing it off with a wave of her hand. She really had no answer as to why she did that. ”Just missed ya I guess,” she said before sticking a tongue out at him.
Carolanne laughed at him, ”Yes, the place with the cookies and couches. You’re always welcome to join, you know,” she said with a small shrug. Then Jeremy was begging her to help him and she instantly felt bad for trying to joke around with him. She sighed, a sign of defeat and looked back to the portrait. “Alright, like I could really take anything away from you.” She looked back at Jeremy with a smirk, ”You’re gonna owe me if she actually listens to me.”
She grabbed Jeremy’s hand and practically dragged him back to the photo. To be honest, Laney didn’t even know the password to get into the common room yet. Yes, she was Head Girl but she didn’t bother learning the password this year. She usually waited for another Ravenclaw to come around. She stood in front of the portrait and sighed, ”Alright, I’m pretty sure he answered your question right, so why won’t you let him in?”
