Kristiana had been at Hogwarts a couple of months or so. There was a period of adjustment but she handled it with grace and elegance the way her mother taught her. Still she hadn't made many friends probably because the others were just jealous of her that was fine because there was plenty to be jealous of. Her blood was pure, her heart was cold as ice, and she was as nasty as she wanted to be.
It was the weekend and again she had nothing to do no one to hang out with so she decided to go to that village everyone was always on about. She thought the name was Hogsmeade or some such thing. There was a map of the area in her bags so she looked through it seeing the easiest way into the village. Throwing on her robes, scarf, and gloves Kristi left the castle.
There were a few shops littered about here and there, not a very wide selection in her opinion. How she longed for the London streets she could shop for days. Nothing seemed really appealing to her she just wanted to get in out of the cold. Deciding to pick a place based on its look she tried to find the least dilapidated looking place.
Finding one further down the road Kristi found the name Madam Puddifoots. Sounded innocent enough and there were wonderful smells wafting from the place. Her stomach growled alerting her to the hunger she felt since missing breakfast that very morning. A cup of tea and a scone couldn't hurt any. Striding into the room Kristi noticed how charming it was a place for couples sweet (NOT). No matter she was here it was warm and she wanted some food. Standing at the counter waiting to be served her eyes scanned the place. Not too many people good good and those there she didn't know so even better.
Her turn next she asked for a scone and a strawberry mint tea. Not bothering to wait because she figured the order would be brought to her table Kristi found an empty seat near the door wondering who would come in next.

Via was in that very homely mood today, where all she wanted to do in the December cold was warm up by a fire, wear fluffy jumpers and drink tea all day. Unfortunately for her her friend Jack had plans with his girlfriend and although she was a little disappointed, she was still happy that he had found someone who seemed to be his soul mate. She couldn't begrudge him that, that's for sure.
As she thrust her gloved hands deeper into the soil, scraping it up the sides of the terracotta pot, she was glad of the earmuffs covering her ears as the mandrake began screeching louder and louder as she uncovered it from the dirt. Pulling it out, she quickly re-potted it and pushed the soil back over it, muting it's sound. Pulling off the gloves, she was glad she was finished for the day and she quickly pulled off her earmuffs and hung them up as she walked out the greenhouse with her patchwork shoulder bag strapped over her shoulder.
Heading down the gravelled path to Hogsmeade, she had visions of warm china teacups and scones complete with strawberry jam and cream filling filled her mind as she smiled subtly to herself as the texture from gravel quickly changed into cobbles, signalling she had arrive on the high street. She swore the journeys to Hogsmeade seemed to get shorter and shorter.
First stop was Madam Puddifoots to fulfill her cravings before she went to buy a few more christmas presents for people, mainly Jackson as he had been with her shopping in the first place and she couldn't exactly surprise him with a christmas present for him with her could she? Now all she had to do was think of what to get him...
As her mind began to wander again, she absentmindedly walked into the shop and didn't flinch when the familiar bell rang above her head. Walking straight towards the counter she ordered an Earl Grey tea and a rather scrummy looking scone, one that looked even better than what she had originally thought, before turning around and catching a glimpse of her cousin, a new student at Hogwarts and a slytherin, like the rest of her extended family. "Kristiana! I didn't see you there" she exclaimed as she walked over to her carefully, balancing her cup and saucer in her hand along with the scone in the other. "Do you mind if I take a seat?"

At least the girl was smart enough to know she was supposed to bring Kristi's stuff over to the table. She set it down so Kristi threw some money on the table for everything. The girl eyed her and Kristi eyed her right back. One thing about Kristi was that she loved a good staring match that is probably why she has never lost one. So she sat with her eyes locked on the girl who realized she had met her match and looked away as she should. Grabbing her money she walked away, another smart decision on her part. Surely there would be some nasty words said about the witch at the table by the door but Kristi didn't get phased by being bad mouthed.
In the moments she wasted thinking about that silly girl something else caught her attention the most amazing aroma she ever encountered. Her head slid down and she saw the smoke unfurling from the cup of tea, the smell that was wafting up to her nose. Taking a deep breath Kristi couldn't believe how good it smelled. Pouring in some milk and sweetener she took a sip. The stuff tasted as good as it smelled, no actually it was even better. Now this was tea worth coming out here for. Kristi started to giggle only for a moment the absolute thing she wanted was for people to think she was girly, cute, or even all that nice.
The second she prepared to take another sip of her magical drink the bell above the door rang once again, unable to contain her curiosity Kristi looked up to see her cousin Via Thorn walk in. The look that passed over Kristi's face was priceless. People walking by might have though someone put a skunk under her nose. She simply looked disgusted. Via just looked a mess it was hard to believe the two were even related. Oh how her father would have had a fit seeing this at all.
Of course her cousin noticed her sitting there how could she not. Trying not to roll her eyes Kristi plastered on a smile "Why my dear cousin how are you, and of course you may join me."

Okay, so Via wasn't dumb, far from it. She knew every single one of her slytherin family members hated her for many reasons. Mainly because her and her disgusting father had turned out to be hufflepuffs, breaking the slytherin family tradition, and two, the parselmouth trait had skipped a few generations and she so happened to end up with the typically slytherin power. There were so many arrows pointed at Via's head that she was sure one day they would just go off and tear her to pieces.
They didn't like her as soon as she was born anyway, who in Slytherin would want to be related to Hufflepuffs? Until then however, she embraced her gift, even if that did mean that her family hated her guts and wanted her dead.
Sitting down with Kristiana felt like she was lowering herself down into a pit of snakes, or locking herself in a room with a chinese fireball dragon, neither she particularly wanted to do. Via however knew she was family and she would be as bad as them if she chose to ignore them. This meant that an awful lot of being nice only to be treated like garbage in return, but Via was willing to go through that for her father's sake.
"Ooh, that tea smells yummy! What is it?" Via asked, desperate to make any sort of conversation. She normally didn't wander far from what she knew, but the tea smelt so delicious that she began to wonder if she should try it. Via didn't like much change and she stuck to her favourite things. She began to think of what presents she needed to get from what places and when she needed to send them back home because she was staying at Hogwarts over christmas this year. She was going to miss seeing Wales all snowy and bright and miss seeing her parents on Christmas day, but she thought about even surprising them and flying there on the day to stay for a couple of days.

The girl was just about as odd as her father always said she was. In her house Via and her father were a running joke, at least until it came to the girls gift. Her parents begrudged her cousin that, how they went on about the filth and how it got what should be their daughters. Kristiana never gave into that, no matter how coveted being a parselmouth was she didn't want the ability to speak to snakes, she didn't much care for the slythering creatures not that she expressed those thoughts out loud.
Poor girl it had to be hard knowing half your family tree dislike if not hated you. Kristiana had never been allowed anywhere near Via didn't really know anything about her except the things her parents said none very nice. So far Kris could see what they meant, she had the last name Thorn and took no real pride in it, walking around looking as if she'd forgotten to take out her big girl clothes and wear them.
Kris tried not to laugh she didn't want to be that rude plus Via had actually been nice to her. She didn't have to be, her parents sure weren't nice to her or her family. Kristi couldn't be mean at leat not now not when it wasn't warrented. Now if she could behave herself it would be good.
"The tea yes I saw it up on the menu board and I figured I would give it a try I have to say I'm glad I did this is liquid magic you should try a cup I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. " So far so good she hadn't snapped at her or said anything mean. "So why are you in here today?"
