Ashton made his way towards the forest, the hour was late, and the ethereal glow of the full moon gave off a sense of eeriness that normally would not have been felt during the day. He looked up, the sky twinkled with thousands up on thousands of stars, he stood in awe of the undescribable beauty for a few moments before entering the outskirts of the forest. The wind whistled through the trees, creating an eerie sound, there was an almost unnatural chill in the air, and Ashton was forced to pull out his cloak. It was either that, or freeze to death. Taking a deep breath, Ashton began to make his way into the darkness, not daring to light his wand, and glad that he had worn all black. Suddenly a twig snapped behind him, and instead of whirling around like most people would, he quickly found a sturdy tree with low hanging branches, gripping the bracnches, Ashton pulled himself up into the tree, he climbed as quietly as he could, towards the top of the ancient tree, where he could see everything going on around him.

Prickles of fear gnawed at Charlie as she sat cross legged under the eaves of the dark forbidding trees, she knew she'd been there far too long. It was getting late, really too late to remain here any longer, but she really couldn't help herself, no she wasn't pulled to the eerie nature of the forest, which she'd heard horrible things about, but more so the natural beauty of the nature within, even in such a dank, dismal place. Back resting against a large dominating oak tree, it's huge hanging branches domineering the smaller trees around it creating an open area around it, covered in pretty feeble yellowing flowers, the browning of death from lack of light when they sucumbed to the drought of so little water. But murmuring under her breath, Charlie pitied the small flowers so unnatural in this place, she didn't even realise it but she softly whispering an incantation that she didn't conciously know of, it sounds strange and if anybody would have seen they would think even more weird than normal really.
So transfixed was Charlie that she didn't even hear the approaching very light footsteps that people usually looked out for when they were in here. She vaguely heard the crack of a dried twig underfoot and came out of her reverie of sorts, looking around with bleary eyes as she'd been completely focused upon the flowers which strangely didn't look so wilted as before. Looking around in confusion she asked the silence, "anyone there?" In a voice that quavered slightly, she wasn't good at magic, and being in the forest at this hour wqas just asking for trouble, of the worst kind.

Ashton glanced down, peering through the braches. He slipped from the tree, landing lightly on his feet, he regarded the girl with curiousity for a moment. "Come to exlpore the forest?" he asked quietly. After looking at her robes, he concluded that the girl was a Hufflepuff, he hadn't met any Hufflepuff's lately. He smirked, "You don't seem the kind of person that would be at home in the Forbidden Forest. In fact, you look like you'd rather be anywhere but here." He said in an icy tone, his sapphire eyes which were normally bright with humor, were now hard and cold, and glittering with an almost eerie light.. He didn't mean to be cold and aloof, but for some reason, today he just didn't feel like dealing with people. And pity the fool who dared ask him what was wrong. Because today, Ashton was not in the mood to be messed with, and anyone who tried would find themselves hexed through hell and back.

Giving a little shriek of alarm Charlie shrank back into the oak at her back, feeling the hard, tough bark and taking comfort from just how tough it felt, it wouldn't just fall even from a bolt of freak lightening, even cutting it would be difficult. Hands pressed into the earth Charlie gaped up at the grim, tall boy before her, his steely gaze was unnerving her, and his questions weren't very light hearted and friendly, what did she expect from somebody in here though?
"Uhm well I come a bit," she explained craning her neck to look up at his towering figure, anyone else would have stood up to even the balance a little, but Charlie was scared that he'd take any movement badly really.
"Well not really anywhere but here, it's not the nicest forest but it's still full of good stuff, like the butterfly behind your ear." She gestured to the small insect hovering about the dark haired youth. Though she was pretty frightened, especially because she wasn't exactly very good at magic, she was really at his mercy, but she didn't think he was really mean, even though his eyes looked pretty cold now.
"Who is at home here though?" She asked curious to know what he thought, she didn't know who was suited to being here, but he didn't look particularly happy to be here either, unless he was just unhappy with her, that wouldn't be good.

Ashton laughed mirthlessly. "I'm more at home here than I am my own home." He said grimly. He gave the girl a small smile, probably the first friendly smile to grace his features in days. "I'm Ashton McLane."

Maria walked through the dark forest. The light of the full moon occasionally shining through gaps in the treetops. She was perfectly calm and comfortable here. This had been something that she had done very frequently. She had always roamed at night and on more than one occasion had found herself in the forest.
Suddenly she heard something, other than the usual sounds of the forest at night. Following voices that sounded familiar, possibly those of other students, she finally came upon two people. In the moonlight she could see that they were in fact other students. She had seen both of them around before, but had never really spoken to them. The boy she remembered was Ashton, the one who had gotten pretty sick that one time.
She stepped out to where the two would be able to see her. "Hello, there," she said casually, looking from the girl, who seemed a bit nervous, to Ashton.

Ashton turned towards the new voice, it was Maria. He gave her a nod, then turned his attention back to the darkness of the forest. Without saying a word to either of the girls, he turned and walked further into the forest, treading lightly, soundlessly on the ground. One minute he was there, the next he was gone. He glanced back for a split second, the girls were still standing there. Either they would follow him, or they wouldn't and would go back to the castle. Either way, Ashton didn't care. He had promised himself that he would explore the forest sometime. That time, was now.

Maria watched as Ashton wandered off. She glanced back at the castle, quickly realizing that she wasn't ready to go back. Looking over at the nervous girl, she shrugged. Maria didn't particularly want to leave the girl there alone, but with a shrug she followed Ashton.
Quickly and silently she caught up to him. The moonlight falling through the breaks in the trees and the utter darkness everywhere else gave the forest a scarier appearance than it had during the day. Glancing guiltily back over her shoulder she wondered if the other girl was going to follow too.

Ashton looked over to see Maria standing next to him. Not saying a word, he stared up at the stars. The wind blew his midnight-black hair around his icy pale face, and his sapphire eyes seemed to glow with a hidden light. The whole effect gave him an eery yet beautiful look. Finally he looked back at Maria. "Why did you follow me?" he whispered, not really expecting an answer, as it was more of a rhetorical question.

Easily becoming pensieve gliding in and out of conversations seamlessly was a trait of Charlie's she wasn't really sure if it was good or bad, but it suited her just fine as if the conversation was lost upon her she could simply zone out, study the natural world about her but still hear what was being said easily enough. It wasn't that this conversation bored her, quite the opposite really, but that the forest seized her attention.
As the dark haired but pale skinned youth supplied his name Charlie's tasted it on her lips, repeating it softly to put it firmly into her memory, "Charlie Peers," she responded with a growing grin, she always found it easier to talk to people once she knew their name, otherwise some inane sense told her they were still strangers, and she said as much, "now we're not strangers I can ask why you're more at home here than anywhere else?"
Not hearing the soft footfalls of another's approach she only came out of her lapsed reverie once more as the newcomer spoke kindly. "Oh hi," startled Charlie visibly jumping a little. "I'm Charlie..." she trailed off as Ashton abruptly took their fate into his hands and went further in. "Oh cool are we going to explore?" She asked the obvious still feeling a little nervousness stabbing from time to time, but she must be safe with these pair. They weren't worried. Well they didn't show it. Thinking if it were better to act confident or just act herself she didn't notice that the girl had already set off after him.
"Oooh wait for me," she exclaimed rushing to catch up then skipping merrily as she noticed the butterfly's were following her happily. "Any idea where we are going then?" She asked, "or just a general wander about?"

Maria turned her head again to look when the girl started following behind them, skipping. She did find it strange that anyone would skip in this forest, but made no mention of it. Instead she answered the question Ashton had asked. "Why not? If I'm going to be in the forest anyway, I could use a bit of company," she said with a shrug.
Turning her head to look at the girl again she asked, "Charlie, right? Anyway, you seemed a bit nervous a moment ago. You're not afraid are you?" Maria asked with only a small bit of concern in her voice. She didn't particularly like the thought of someone walking through the forest who was frightened of it.
